CHART: Economy Has Recovered All Private Sector Jobs Lost Since Obama Took Office

As of April, there are now more private sector jobs in the United States than there were in January 2009, when President Obama took office. You read that right. We have now replaced all of the private sector jobs lost while Obama has been president. And that was no mean feat, given that over the course of 2009, the private sector shed about 4.2 million jobs.

Unfortunately, the news is not nearly so good when it comes to the public sector, where there are currently 607,000 fewer people working than there were when President Obama took office.

Saying that Obama ruined the economy is becoming a harder and harder sell each day.

i had to close my shop, and me and my employees were out of work.
me and two others still haven't found jobs yet.

hes nothing more than a new face in an old game.

Voting for the right man is a myth, they are all bad.

What was one of the many things Obama said he would fight for and didnt?

the answer is irrelevant.

Up is down...Down is up...and The ocean isn't wet, we just think it is.

I'm sorry to question your chart and it's not personal, but the unemployment numbers I'm pulling for state comps every month aren't showing improvement at all. They show a little up...a little down...but generally a long term sputter at the crisis level with rates spiking north of a staggering 20-25% in some on the top cities the Labor stats carry for their chart. Even Drudge headlines have been directly contradicting this the private sector side of the chart? Odd...

On the other side, the chart says Government jobs have shrank while Pelosi has been sharing her wisdom of Government expansion being good for the economy for 3 years now. She's still a senior leader and matters...she just got demoted a rung. It's a growing Government though and not least of which by recent examples like 15,000 or so IRS agents bright eyed, bushy tailed and raring to go enforce Obamacare provisions.

So how can the chart jive with the headlines and Government maintained stats in some of the most relevant areas?

Uh-oh... you are posting something positive. You know that's against the rules to most of our members, especially if it doesn't make Obama look bad.

The fact that our economy is actually getting better is a bitter pill for many people to swallow. The people who are unemployed are, of course, going to say it's not getting better simply because of their perspective.

Incredibly misleading

haha why is it measured in the thousands? It states millions were lost and that graph shows a growth of 5000 payroll jobs from its lowest in 09 to where it is today

If it's getting better then why isn't it actually getting better? Why is it that everywhere I look I see people out of work, places going out of business, etc.??

I really doubt a chart from a website that is and has been a constant supporter of Obama is true. Especially when he's trying to get re-elected...

It's called cooking the books....manipulating data to get the results you want.....people stopped looking for jobs and are now on unemployment for two years.

And I even missed the part that it was only 5000!

Read the title, it's in thousands.

So what's a thousand thousands?

Read the chart carefully, the legend states "in thousands" - so on the left of the chart, where it reads "-4000" for instance, that would be multiplied by 1000, which is -4,000,000. It again states in the accompanying description that about 4.2 million private sector jobs were lost since Jan. 2009.

Great
he has fixed everything,
no need to reelect,
he can kick back, and brag,
about his achievements
while retired.
Now we can move on and elect a women for president,
and please don't vote for that cross dresser,
what was his name Gouly?

Sorry, but that chart is a bunch of BS.

I don't need a chart to let me know what is going on in the employment world. All I have to do is look around my town and state and see the thousands out of work, shops closed and businesses failing.

Just because the government says it's all better now don't make it so.

I can make a spreadsheet sing "Mary Had A Little Lamb" when it is opened. Numbers are determined by the HONESTY of the functions instituted upon the inputs.

As I already stated, it's in the thousands.

As for the books being cooked, well it's possible but I went looking for any news about job increases in February 2010 and lo and behold, we have this article...

US jobs surge in February

Make what you will of it.

The author and creator of the chart is Michael Linden, private_sector_jobs.html, based on Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Never believe a hockey stick chart..

I thought everyone has learned that
by now..

Exactly what Gore used and faked..

I do not think any working middle american
people would say with there pocket books
and wallets, the jobs they are at, and all
the people everyone knows on unemployment
still that the *ECONOMY IS FIXED*
What a FARCE...
I personally know 8 people on unemployment
people that have never had a problem getting work.
