Top thread.

We humans always seem to believe that we know it all. We know all there is to know about plants!

I had a dog that knew 5 minutes before people were coming home. Science just says meh to these types of events. Another is thousands upon thousands of starlings in flight without any midair collisions. Humans have problems when 5 jets are in the same general area. Science is meh where human ego is concerned.

Plants have somehow survived and thrived after ice ages. Try and tell me the seeds stayed dormant for thousands of years. We know stuff all about plants!

If my dog starts getting upset for no reason I would get my BOB ready and exit the building.

This pollen migration is across the Northern Hemisphere. Take the hint!!!!!

It has been a little warmer than average, but nothing crazy. We just set a record last night for low temperature here in northern Indiana. Pollen has been normal.

Great thread! And I live in Atlanta and can vouch firsthand for all the pollen. My office is near a lot of pine trees and I can't begin to tell you the pollen dust storms I have watched around here....it kills my sinuses. Been unusually warm for us here this year too.....but I am thinking we will see one more late freeze as usual here.

I have noticed an extreme uptick in the wind.
Always windy.
Wind moves pollen like no other.

There you go.

I have no allergies other than mold and lactose.

My pagan perspective... We are awash in plant sex. The earth is letting us know how fertile she is, and can be. We can embrace it and glory in it, because this sort of fertility gives us abundance.

She hurts our eyes, but we probably should be crying for her.

Very precise and clear writing of this thread! I'm definitely intrigued by your theory, as I will do some of my own research into this subject now. Thank you!

Something is up. I have never had watery eyes till this year and I can't be outside for more than a few minutes before they start. So far nothing helps except to stay inside.

It's like "The Happening"! In all seriousness, I am a serious allergy sufferer.. of the past 1 1/2 years. Never in my life have I had allergies of any kind until fairly recently. I get extreme nasal and sinus congestion and pain fromt hem. I have tried every medicine out there and the only one that works for me is 12 hour claritin D, Zyrtec D makes me feel high as a kite. Anyway, can't remember if it was here or somewhere else, but sometime in the past week, there was an article about the "truth" of the Fukushima situation and that the radiation released is way more than what the govt or media is telling us, with the places receiving the most radiation in the US being Portland, OR, I think L.A., and Boulder, CO (my neighbor), something to do with the jet stream. Anyway, according to the poster and accompanying article, pollen itself has become radioactive and it is causing severe allergies in those exposed to it. THe number of allergy sufferers in the US has grown exponentially and they all seem to have the same kind of symptoms I have.

I don't know if this is true or not, like I said, it was from a forum and vague source, but makes sense to me. What would happen to pollen if it became irradiated? Would it take on any extreme characteristics besides making you sick when you inhaled it? Would it become abnormal, like dandelions and other plants are becoming? Would it become larger or somehow or could it mutate? I have no idea on any of it, just theorizing

But actually I have to disagree with the OP ive been feeling fine outside despite there suppose to be a ton of Pollen...I think its in your head. If anything id pick up a farmers alamanac and do some resarch instead of just guessing. ::Thumbsdown::

Do you see any evidence of the alleged mass death of bees fitting in anywhere?

Tie in the bee's with the dolphins in Peru as well as other locations (which to my knowledge yes yet to be scientifically explained). Along with other notable animal die offs in the news said to be a normal occurrence. Begins to make one wonder what is astir.

It's like "The Happening"!

I thought of this as well, there are slight similarities. The concept of that movie was magnificent imo.

I posted links to sources showing records were broken to support the t-h-e-o-r-y, however thank you for your input nonetheless.

Very good theory indeed!

I do have to wonder tho, yes its been heating up quite a bit........

But whats to happen to the big producers with this"early spring"

IF there were to come a big frost before summer?

How would that affect the food supply? Its possible, temperatures are fluctuating wildly .....

Just today in my area we had a high of 96 with a low of projection of 58? what the hell is that?

recently several species of bamboo flowered, which often occurs one a century or even much less often, like 500=1000+ years/

the problem is, when that species of bamboo flowers. they all die around the world, entire groves of bamboo, almost simultaneously.

leaving only the seed to bear the burden of reporopagating the species from scratch, tiny slow-growning seedlings.

The Pollen count must be high, I never suffer much from any pollen until now.. Not only that The Moths, Yup the Moths are out in great numbers by the thousands or millions maybe here in NM . The moths hatch or what ever they do in August; This year It's April 3 to 4 month early and they are every where on the highway, your home, etc.. you can't escape them. I never seen so many in my life. My Labrador eats these things. he was having a good time at the park today, jumping up and trying to catch them.

I am a horticulturist/gardener and I have been talking about this for over a week. It is a very strange year indeed. The Lilacs are almost finished here, usually just starting to bloom, and they look better this year than in the 15 years I have lived in this state. I also have witnessed some plant evolution of some sort. I have a house I have worked at for years, one weed in particular has started to spread it seeds by throwing them, I have pulled this same weed, at this same house for years and never have they had these projectile seeds. I know plants will bloom and attempt to seed when they are under stress and about to die. Strange indeed. Thank you for the post.

you know what's crazy...I have really bad allergic reactions to pollen. This year I have NOTHING. I have just recently moved to an area with a new type of pollen I hadn't gotten use to. (4 years ago). Each year was worse than the last. This year....I am perfect. Weird to me.

WOW, I cant believe you have the same thing, just started in our lawn. Was rolling down some grass seed during the 85F weather we were having in NY and noticed a these small wheat type weeds throwing seeds when I brushed them lightly. Where are you ? We have never had these before...
