Well no names dropped and no nuttin' of some sources or credibility, but despite this lack of hard evidence, it doesn't seem implausible given the topics of contemporqry Hiphop, far away from Consciousness it was once ... but as it was said already: There'S a lot of good stuff out there, but the conscious industry generates so much "white noise" that only their even louder bull# is heard above that by most people ... There's no Problem with 20%of dissenters in a society as long as you keep the 80 % on track ...

I would rather go with the theory that raps content just comes from a lesser evolved culture, thus relying on the importance of material things, violence, and sex. Although it would be a better story if they were chosen and forced, it's hard to believe because boyz 2 men and will smith were successful.

Anyone seen the new Sean Paul vid "she don't mind"?
It's basically glorifying TSA gropping.

The music industry is what the elite use to brainwash us into a way of thinking.

Here's a passage from that article (among others) that particularly stood out to me:

As the months passed, rap music had definitely changed direction. I was never a fan of it but even I could tell the difference. Rap acts that talked about politics or harmless fun were quickly fading away as gangster rap started dominating the airwaves.

If this entire thing is true (which I'm on the fence about, naturally) then this could go MUCH deeper... beyond record company profits, on up the hierarchy of corruption through the evil that is private prisons, up to the levels of government and ideology that may have engaged in furtherance of COINTELPRO-esque programs to neutralize/dismantle/discredit/divide entire populations that were growing in political discontent but also political POTENCY (and even militancy). Oppressors and tyrannical forces THROUGHOUT history have not been too fond of art/music that offends their claims to power/wealth/hegemony.

Once again... I'm on the fence (as anyone should be about anonymous anecdotal evidence), but wouldn't be surprised at this at all.

Hopefully more comes out... unless it already has... I haven't read through this thread yet. Guess I'll go do that now!

They did the same thing with the entire Vietnam war. Circa 1965. The "elites", in this case President Johnson, abandoned the plan which ultimately ended the Vietnam war in 1973. Same plan the Joints" wanted to implement in 1965.
Why? No money in no war, can't ruin society then, especially the guys who fought the war.
Same M-O different industry.
Here's the link to the story: online.wsj.com...

This is a really good read. No way to check it's authenticity, but very interesting.
The long and short of it is a closed door meeting happened that encouraged rappers to glorify criminal activity in order to fill new prisons for mad cash.
