Dear atheists, unbelievers, secular humanists, etc.... (this is not addressing spiritual/religious people who believe in gods other than Christ YHVH, this is aimed at those who believe in no deity)

I was in the process of reading an article, and reading a post on ATS in another thread, and I just feel like sharing this with you all.

I feel this is a great read for anybody who has bought into Dawkins / Hitchens anti-God anti-Christ crusade,

www.dailymail.co.uk...

Thank you and God bless you all

For instance, Dawkins often compares belief in God to an infantile belief in Santa Claus or the Tooth Fairy, saying it is something we should all outgrow. But the analogy is flawed. How many people do you know who started to believe in Santa Claus in adulthood?

Dawkins can be debunked with simple logic, but the world chooses to believe fools like him instead of the thousands of brilliant Christian apologists....

Define "God Hater", Is it someone who doesn't agree with the popular image of God? Is it someone who doesn't agree with christian ideals? Or is it someone who Thinks a little too much for "God's"(or at least what people assume god thinks is too much) liking?

I do all those things, Does it mean i hate God? Noooo

I love God, But religious nut's irritate me....

I don't completely believe in God, I don't completely dismiss the possibility.
But I get on my nerves when I see Hate getting hold of mankind's heart. Hate that comes from a handfull of men like Bin Laden or Dawkin.

I went up to Oxford to study the sciences in 1971, expecting my atheism to be consolidated. In the event, my world was turned upside down. I gave up one belief, atheism, and embraced another, Christianity. Why? There were many factors. For a start, I was alarmed by some atheist writings, which seemed more preoccupied with rubbishing religion than seeking the truth.

Quoted for truth.

Especially on this forum.

I run the middle ground in this whole 'argument'. I believe that the two doctrines can be followed concurrently; that one is no more right than the other.

But that's just my $0.02

And I believe that religious 'nuts' annoy almost everyone except those that they associate with, but can you not say the same about the atheist 'nuts' who are simply trying to disprove the existence of God? If you do something enough times with almost no result, you're going to annoy someone (and be called insane), and that can be applied to both sides here as well.

I have thought that Richard Dawkins is an obnoxious jerk all along. He may be right but why be a jerk about it?

Not much to see here, Alistair McGrath seems to have a new book out dedicated entirely to Richard Dawkins better known for evolution than anything else.

Who cares if Dawkins is an asshole sometimes, should that make me rethink my lack of belief in God?

What a silly suggestion.

Wouldn't a God Hater be a believer of God as something has to exist for you to hate it?

If you don't believe in God there is no way to hate God as in your mind there is no God.

I'm an Atheist/Agnostic. I am not a "God hater" because in order for me to "hate God" I would have to believe said "God" exists in the first place.

If you really want to have a discussion on such matters as "God" or religion, be polite and don't start off with name calling.

It makes you sound like a child.

It's not that people hate god, it's that people hate the hypocrisy that often is displayed by those professing to be doing "god's work."

There are a lot of really awesome people on both sides of the fence. I have many friends that are happy with their religions, and if t makes them happy, I'm sincerely happy for them. (I still don't believe in religion though)

An analogy is just a reference to partial similarity in order to make a logical point. Analogies do not have to be perfect.

Finding one way God belief is different to Santa Claus belief doesn't destroy the analogy.

This is retarded

No, I called his silly statement about "debunking Dawkins" retarded.

The whole thread is basically a flame against Richard Dawkins, so you're right, it started at post 1.

Thanks, I respect a lot of the major religions. I have a Bible, a Qu'ran, books on Norse mythology, Greek mythology and Egyptian mythology.

I love a good story. But what I don't love, is crazy people.
And crazy people can sometimes use a good story for crazy reasons.
I'm not saying the vast majority of believers in these religions are crazy, but there are enough out there to worry me sometimes. lol

Watch the interview, available on Youtube, between Richard Dawkins and Wendy Wright. Please tell me, if you were in Richard's position, you would remain as calm as he.

Here is an example:

Wendy: There is no evidence for evolution

Richard: In the museum, there are fossils of the following early humans

Wendy: Show me the evidence

Richard: It's in the museum, go look

Wendy: I find it insulting that you think I have not been to a museum

Richard: If you have been, you know there is evidence, so why are you asking for it when you've seen it

Wendy: I don't believe in evolution, because a society based on evolutionary standards is immoral, and teaches people to trample the poor and be ruthless

Richard: Sure, but that doesn't discount biological evolution

Wendy: Show me the evidence

His frustration, I think, comes from the unwillingness of the Religious to look at the evidence. He is a professor, so he is passionate about the truth. On the other hand, you have some religious folk who ignore evidence just to preserve their faith.

Edit: Her only proof FOR creation, was that each of us are 'unique'
I know this is off-topic, but it helps to explain his sometimes fierce manner.
