Because it's not a huge event.Again, take it down a notch.

ONLY because this won't cause a huge wave and kill thousands.. I have been one here NOT making a big deal and calling this the possible Mayan Event... I do hate the ego crap that goes on here and if you read this thread you would see that... Many are sitting in the basement of their parents house and posting here... I am not one of those...

7.13pm: US Geological Survey revises quake off Indonesia downward to 8.7 magnitude from 8.9.

9:15pm: The USGS records an 8.2-magnitude aftershock off Sumatra island, while Indonesia's geophysics agency says it has extended Aceh's tsunami warning by two hours.

9:32pm: Indonesia's geophysics agency says there has been another aftershock of 8.3 off Aceh.

Another. Can't tell if referring to the same one

And the energy for the past three days has felt very intense and strange. I've also had headaches each of those days, and I never get headaches.

For the record, I've had an extreme migrane headache since Friday, and it still hasn't gone away.

Don't know if it is related or not, but I sure would like to know what triggers them. I don't get them all the time, maybe a couple of times a year, but when I get them they are intense and last a long time or come in groups that last a long time.

You don't think multiple 8+ earthquakes with tsunami implications warrants news coverage?...

AFP: Tsunami measuring 10 cm (four inches) hits Thai coast.

Seems that most damage reports coming out have happened trying to get to higher ground.

Small waves??? The Danish news stations are reporting that Aceh was hit by a 5 metre wave just now and there's heavy structural damage.

We live about 1000km from the epicenter so the waves should come in at around 3 hours after the quake. In 2004 the quake hit at about 9.00am and the tsunami waves reached our shores at about 12.30pm on a Sunday. In Penang, Malaysia we felt tremors or maybe aftershocks at about 4.00pm and everyone in my neighbourhood ran outdoor. Hope its not as devastating as the one in 2004. A lot of lives lost then as well as a lot of damage to homes and infrastructure.

Not good news. I hope all those pele get evacuated in time.

Do the outlying islands have warning systems? I hope they know to get to higher ground.

After shocks seem to be happening with high frequency... I wonder how the quakes are effecting any volcanic activity in the region.

I'm not sure either. But my head has felt like there was a pressure sensation just waiting to pop. Nothing super painful, but nagging. Went out late tonight for a drive around 2 am mountain time and felt uneasy. Couldn't sleep, so what do I do? Check ATS
Hope you're feeling better!

Have you kept a journal related to the headaches and quakes? Any trends.

BTW, You may be unaware that SOME migrane sufferers have upped their water intake considerably and had the headaches disappear almost entirely.

Are you bothered by light . . . particularly flourescent flicker rates? Glare?

Otherwise, if there's a headache evaluation/treatment center within traveling distance . . . might be worth going through.

No need to ansswer the headache items. I just care.

The "good" news is that the warning was sent out in good time, so people managed to escape to the nearby mountains. So the damage seems contained to structures... but yeah, they really didn't need this :'(

could be me, if someone else who is monitoring closer and can confirm this or not, would be helpful, as there is what seems to be an increase in 5.0 and up quakes in recent hours on the planet and seeing the rings of the mag. 8.2 and 8.6 in Sumatra, could be more action today, and in coming weeks, is logical guess, so will continue to monitor

Buckle up!
