How could anyone with an ounce of common sense really believe only planet Earth has life?

But... Someone had to be first...who's to say we aren't the first?

Care to elaborate or give ONE (one would be enough!) reason why you would even remotely think "we are first"? This is just the same, uhm, sorry, ignorance and arrogance but just in a milder form. We are NOT special in any way, likelihood even that other civilizations are much, much older than we are.

One reason your scientists put forward for the lonely earth theory was 'the great radio silence'.
They pondered that had intelligent life been evolving (to the same levels as, or greater than, humanity)
Then they decided it was logical to assume that those species would at some point invent and use communication mediums, such as Radio.
The fact that no transmissions of any kind have yet to be detected by humanity makes it lean more toward
the theory that there aren't highly intelligent species out there and that you are indeed the first, or only.

From a human point of view, there is more evidence (or lack of) to support a lonely earth theory
than there is so far to support a vastly populated universe theory.

Moving on however,

As has been pointed out before, The stars and planets are only recently in the stages where they contain
all that is need to create and support life. The minerals, elements, longevity, stability etc.

So it is perfectly acceptable to believe that the first 'intelligent' species are only just coming into play.
Why is it so hard to believe that you may very well be a lonely planet as of yet.
Afterall your planet did have a lot of extraordinary events happen to it to help make the conditions 'just right'
for life to thrive. Cosmic collision, Creation of a large stable moon, Millions of years long ice age allowing
bacteria to grow and release vast amounts of oxygen into the atmosphere, Extinction events wiping out
dominant predators etc.
Not every life containing planet out there would have such an amazing boost as Earth did.
Earth itself is not that special, but the events that happened to & on it are simply amazing.

As I have stated in many other posts THE NUMBERS DON'T LIE! Look at the vast amounts of planets that are out there it's in the billions and that's being conservative because we don't have the technology to find them all. If you think that earth is so special that in the whole universe we were the first/only planet that had events happen for life to form. And by being life that would be life as we know it here on earth. I know I can't prove it but can you disprove it?

Throw infinity in the numbers and all they do is lie. If the question is "What are the chances of life in the KNOWN universe, well i give the odds at 1in a million.

LMAO!! OMG, you made me laugh so hard on that I triggered myself an minor asthma attack!

If I was betting on those odds in Vegas I would take the under. Once again can you prove infinity? I can't. At the same time I also can't disprove it. Can you? If so enlighten us all and problem solved.

But seriously on the real...common sense would've also said, if there was "hard copy proof" of life on other planets we would have known by now and believe some idiot would have already built and the Starship Enterprise and warp 9 their arses over there by now just to start a war to claim some super unleaded hybrid oil.

But in the matter of public opinion we can only say sure, maybe, possible theres life elsewhere but only the man upstair knows that for himself only and he isn't going to tell us about it anytime soon.

That's true, so answer this question, please:
how many planets do we know that have life?

PS: when quoting other posts please keep just the part you are answering to, keeping all previous quotes makes it hard to read.

Of course there's life on other planets

I could give you link after link showing how we've been visited, but, the people who want to put their head in the sand and scream "no, we're the only ones!" would never accept anything short of being beamed aboard the USS Enterprise as proof, and even then they'd scream that it's just one of our "black" projects, then start muttering something about CIA and the bilderbergs.. So that's pointless. We are not, nor have we ever been, alone; not on this planet, not in this solar system, not in this galaxy. Furthermore, earth has seen advanced civilizations before; at this point, we're re-discovering but a small portion of technologies that we once had in abundance. This is why I reject religion, and any control system; they were devised to stop you from learning this basic truth.

everything we've been told is a lie. start with that.

There should be Earth life lving on other planets in our solar system. Earth has been hit by comets and asteroids during times life existed on earth. Some of the hits have released earth bacterial etc... into the solar system on meteorites that should have landed on Mars, Moon etc... NASA has shown some earth bacteria can live exposed to space through experitments on the ISS.

Someday we may find Earth life on a meteorite on mars.

Just one would be enough, if from a real and trustworthy source.

Thank you for making my point for me. Who defines "real" and "trustworthy"? that's a game with an endless loop. No matter what I, or someone else presents, a skeptic would claim it's "not credible", then set up an ever-shifting criteria for what WOULD be credible, with the ultimate goal of frustrating the presenter. It's a tactic. Once you resort to "tactics", you out yourself as someone not really searching for truth, but, rather, someone who wants to keep the status quo. I've seen that tactic used(to great effect) against 9/11 truthers, against those of us who were against the iraq war, and on, and on, and on..so I don't bother playing. I know what I believe, and will stay true to it; those who wish to believe otherwise..more power to ya
