TV did a dumpster dive last May Day, that was five years overdue.
Figured it was time after Olbermann got fired, the lies weren't even
funny anymore. I'll just have to get my news the hard way, as long
as they let us, on the Internet... and when this gets my BS filter
clogged I'll pull the wire and just heat up some propcorn (no typo).
Taking a short look around; maybe the whole system is five years
overdue for the dumpster-- and it shows.

TextI find it interesting thought that they have replaced almost all of the men on the news with women news anchors and now everyone thinks the news (some of which was once trusted) are all synonymous with lies.

You are the first blogger I have read that hit the nail on the head. Fox news has so many empty skirts running the show that I turned it off months ago, How these fancy little females can get to be experts overnight is well beyond me. It used to take a rookie reporter years of experience to gain what these empty skirts have gained overnight. Just a cheaper way of running their mouth off. Even the O'Reilly's are a bore anymore. They only cover gossip just like a rag paper does. I get on the internet and punch around to try to get the news and even then it's pretty well guarded. Best source is to get foreign news outlets and try to balance the truth. It has gotten to be nothing but a morning Oprah girly show. The entire nation has been shut down except for guys like Dr. Savage on Savage Nation radio and George Noory on Coast to Coast radio.

I used to leave Fox News on as background noise while I was on the computer, but it just got to the point over the past 6 months where I can't stomach it anymore. I always knew it was bad, but took it for what it was. The blatant ignoring of Ron Paul was breaking point. Sure, they did the same thing last election but enough is enough. All my news comes from the net now.

What was going on at that time..

Japanese Tsunami..
Wisconsin Protests..
Arab Spring..

What is going on now..

Republican nomination process..

I guess America just doesn't give a crap about the race for a party that isn't going to take the White House.

I got rid of cable a few years ago, not so much because of the cost involved, but
because I do not like the idea of having to pay for the propaganda they pump 24/7.

Not just from the News Stations but also from the corporate sponsored commercials.
Someone else can buy it, I'm not paying for it.

It is up to each individual to be responsible in what enters your mind.
I gather my news and information from as many sources as possible across the globe.
While they all have a bias, taking in as many sides as possible, in order to formulate a bigger picture is
the responsible thing to do.

That includes not letting the US Corporate Government owned media spoon feed you what they want from one source alone.

They don't report the news that is effecting everything in our lives, like the Patriot Act, TSA, NDAA etc but only what they want you to focus on, like the war mongering and who their going to go murder next.

I think what you really have to LOOK at is the history of Pravda (old RTV) in the USSR. While some what sensible reporting was going on in the states.
When you realize that with Stalin's purge and the collapse of the wall, the worm turned.

thats the best news ive heard in a while.i gave up cable tv over a year ago,it was the best thing i could have done.besides the programming sucks and way to many commercials.

I can tell you that I am one of those viewers. I actually quit watching ALL cable news. No matter the network.

I did so because I was getting the exact same news right here, with out the spin,opinions and being told what to think.

I am still more informed than your average person who watches those shows that laughably call themselves "news". I am still the go to guy for friends and family about the latest developments on any given news story...I am proud to tell them I got my info from ATS.

It's been about a year since I have watched any of those bias propaganda shows...And again, I am not just talking CNN here. I am talking all of them...( I even get local news online)

ATS truly is the best place to go for news. Often times we even break news before the TV news stations do!

I think that if their viewership is dropping like this, it is a good sign that people are waking up to the reality of bias political propaganda coming from those channels...

Shouldn't the alternative media viewership also either decline or stagnate if the real reason that the MSM was losing viewers was because it was a slow uneventful news cycle?

I honestly believe you are witnessing a market share shift, and that certain firms are growing into new sectors while others are losing their ground in once long-held sectors. The "slow news cycle" is more like the straw that broke the camel's back, rather than the primary causation behind the overall decline, I would presume.

Thanks for bringing up this aspect of the situation however, it makes for excellent conversation.

Anyone that has more than the awareness of a snail knows that CNN is pure horse #. CNN = half truths, govt propaganda, deception and lies. CNN is socially irrelevant, they are part of the political abuse they should be exposing.

CNN and FOX, along with others like MSNBC, just kind of seem the same to me. I used to watch, but they all seem to be pushing ideologies on people. I can't identify with the ideologies they express, so naturally I have just moved away from this.

I may tune in for kicks, sometimes, but I don't expect much from it. It mostly just irritates me.
