On that count, I agree with you. I don't personally believe the evidence is there for a first degree murder charge. But that doesn't mean a judge and jury couldn't hand down substancial jailtime if convicted. And lets face it - there's a pretty good chance he'll be convicted.

Maybe, maybe not
it all depends what kind of charge
it will be. THEY OVER charge him
i doubt they get anything.

I called this WAY earlier in the thread. This is just for PR, they know the whole thing will get thrown out on appeal.

So far local news are saying IT MIGHT or NOT be charged in 4 hours, Officials say that he probably will be charged with something if they have not already, but its not confirmed if they will charge him with something YET.

Any sensible judge will convict him to avoid the obvious backlash of a not guilty verdict. I'm not saying that that's any version of 'justice' that I agree with. If the evidence, when examined and poked and prodded in a court of law says that Zim is in face innocent, and a jury finds that to be so, the so be it.

But everybody has their own level of respect for the letter of the law. Rioting is one thing, but this particular issue has become so emotionally charged that there could be an armed uprising, worst case scenario.

i think we have known that he was not going to get charged w first degree murder. it takes a grand jury to try someone for that. zimbo if you are out there, cop a plea man save yourself, admit your guilt. it will save you a few years in the slammer!!!!

My worry was that they were going to let him just walk away on his word with no solid evidence to back it up.

I suggest you re-read my post. I'm aware thats not how it works, but you can't deny that the threat of a massive backlash wouldn't play heavy on a judge or jurors mind on the eve of the verdict.

One could argue that the same thing played a role in the OJ verdict.

I stared this post because I have wondered the same thing...

Is Popsmayhem George Zimmerman? He is speaking out on the internet these days...

HOWEVER, I still side with Zimmerman and have always felt that he acted in self-defense,and I say that as a black woman.

The Florida state prosecutor caved in to all of the race-baiting and is only trying to prevent riots in my opinion, which is not real justice. The media nor any hate groups, rioting fears or backlash should NEVER play a role in justice.

What you feel and evidence are two different things, ive always felt he was a power hungry punk and he probably even knew the stand your ground law and maybe even baited Trayvon..

Stop with the excuses Z supporters

Pops has carried the cross that Z is innocent and now we found out what the course will be. Imagine you have a thread 2xx pages long and provoking much needed conversation on racial issues presumed dead and burried. I think popsmayhem needs an applause for giving many of us something to think about. Seriously
Thanks pops.

There is no doubt it took a lot of courage to stand your ground in such an unpopular topic, and take the licks pop has taken.

And yes, it is interesting, and a subject many don't want to, or are afraid to address.

Actually your right. Regardless on how you feel about Zimmerman's Guilt or Innocence, this topic has been in the spotlight,Nationally. These pages show, the dynamics of ATS,and that even here, amidst the Aliens,9/11,and Prophecy threads,we as a group have kept it civil. After Reading Springers thread,I have to say, that this thread has weathered the storm. Thanks goes to OP also.

Well, I told my alien story a dozen times on here, I imagine people are tired of hearing it.
