Most Chinese doctrine suggests for weapons like this to be effective it would need to offensive....
Jog my memory please, when was the last time that China attacked someone offensively? Perhaps you can refresh me as to the last time they went on an empire building spree of false flags, illegal wars, occupations, murder, rape and theft?
Could it be that US strategy of "containing" of China and Russia are driving defensive political & military doctrines of those countries?

The Chinese were the dominant empire in both economic and military terms for over 3,000 years in South East Asia. It's only a matter of time before they take back this title.

And none are, thankfully, capable of stopping the DF-21D.

If operational as is believed, the system marks the first time a ballistic missile has been successfully developed to attack vessels at sea. Ships currently have no defense against a ballistic missile attack.
Be quiet, child.

The Daring class (type 45) is built to deal with a new age of threats. Saturation attacks with supersonic ship-killing missiles, that fly from the ship’s radar horizon to ship impact in under 45 seconds. The reality of future threats from ballistic missiles, and WMD proliferation. Plus a proliferation of possible threats involving smaller, hard to detect enemies like UAVs. Overall, the Type 45s promise to be one of the world’s most capable air defense ships

Threat eliminated.
EDIT: I highly doubt there will be war with China, or at least I hope, there is enough crap going on in this world without more.edit on 20/3/12 by woogleuk because: (no reason given)

Exactly, if the type-45 can already take on these DF-21D (type DF-2D vs Type 45 into Google, the evidence is all over) then you can guarantee if they become a real threat more ships will be outfitted with the technology in the Type-45. I'm sure the UK would share it with the US should the need arise.

What??? I'm British, I'm not pro-American, but last time I check the American people were our allies. We may not agree with their government, but it is no reason to hate the people.

The US is probably the most subversive and vindictive enemy England has ever faced.
