Gatwick Airport in england isn't any better. We flew to Ireland from there last summer to stay with family for a few weeks and on the way out of Gatwick not only was I given a search and pat down etc (I'm used to it, Irish Passport seems to mean I'm obviously IRA... smh) but so was my eldest child who was only 7yrs old. I was livid and told them as much but only got a shrug of the shoulders in repsonse. My poor girl didn't know why they were doing it and I had to make a joke and say they were checking for any sneaked sweeties and it was ok. She was terrified. Luckily they left my (then) 4yr old alone.

You do know that this has been going on since we first started using metal detectors. Anyone with a metal plate or screws or rod, needs a letter from a doctor to get through security if it sets off the detectors.

Can you imagine what this forum would be like if the Underwear bomber was not escorted onto the plane by someone with enough power to force security to violate their own policy?

just have a bomb sniffing dog check everybody going thru the metal detector or the body scanner and leave people alone.

how much can 10 dogs at every airport cost.

if they want to frisk me, they should train a playboy playmate or hooter girls to do it. at least make it fun and enjoyable. people would line up to get frisked.

i wouldn't mind a woman frisking my nuts, but then i'll be put on the no fly list for carrying a weapon of mass destruction.

but of course it'll be sexist, in this backwards and broken society.

O'hare security adds a new level to the insanity. It takes twice the time to get through security there than my local airport. Makes me wish I didn't have friends in Chicago.

Anyone that is ok with this would love living in North Korea, where everyone except the elite live like dirt, or in the military or, their in the labor prison camps. The North Korean Government would expound upon how evil the South Koreans and Americans are and we must protect ourselves from them.

Switch the American Government for the North Korean Government and we are getting close.

Elite living like kings while everyone else standard of living drops - Check
Less and less Freedom everyday - Check

Just had to post this question out of curiosity. Does any one know how many terrorists have been discovered going through security at an airport? I've never heard of even one.

So it seems to me that we spend millions of dollars each year to employ pedofiles and geratric molesters for no reason other than so they can get their jollies. This scam must have been thought up by a politician.

This country was founded on Freedom and used to be the most proudly stated characteristic of the USA.
It no longer is with all the rules, regulations and acts they have put into place that stifle our way of life.

If you lived in North Korea, you would understand what freedom means when you traveled back to the USA 30 years ago.

Those characteristics that make North Korea such a craphole, are slowly creeping into this country.

Those who desire safety and security over freedom deserve neither.

This statement is not just some worn out cliche but something those humans understood and escaped from the stifling laws that were encroaching on their lives to live as free human beings.
It is not different this time either, humans never change, we just tend to go in cycles and repeat the same things over and over again.

This is rediculus. When are you guys going to get the randomness part of these checks? If they only checked anyone who looked like a terrorist then they would be profiling, most likely racially profiling. In order to avoid this they do random checks on whoever passes through the checkpoints.

Here is something else to think about. If I knew that they weren't checking innocent looking people, wouldn't it be a good idea to plant something on that person? I could get whatever item I planted when that person got through the gate.

If a terrorist can predict how our security works, then they can work their way around it.

I love responses like this. Let's get the focus away from thinking logically and instead post hysterical things.

The TSA guy is doing his job. I've never seen such an over reaction in my life. "Terrorists", so to speak, use little kids as their minions to carry out the dirty work. From my personal experience in usaf eod, the toddler looks like hes wearing a bomb strapped to his chest. Upon further investigation, it is in fact a cast. Rather be safe than sorry IMO. Whats five minutes of a clearance check compared to a lifetime of grief, honestly?

Damn that is a huge wheelchair, do they not make smaller models for kids?
