“National Def. Preparedness” Exec. Order OKs Conscripts, Nationalization of Private Industry

Enacting Martial Law and suspending elections would be a major breach of the Constitution. Even during the Civil War elections were not suspended, nor were elections suspended during World War I or II. Even during the great depression which could have turned our Republic in to a communist or fascist country the government did not suspend elections.

If in the unlikely event that this were to occur, we would have a constitutional crisis on our hands. Being a clear violation of the Constitution our military officers and elected officials (Congress) would have to make a choice. Let the order stand and be guilty of Treason or do the right thing by removing the President via Impeachment or force as a last resort.

Our Military's Officer Corp swears and Oath to "Protect and Defend the Constitution of the United States against all threats, Foreign and Domestic." An Act such as suspending elections and enacting martial law with out clear and just cause, would make this a threat to domestic security and our Generals would be forced to choose to do whats right (remove the President) or follow illegal orders. At the very least this could cause a Civil War, with different fractions choosing side.

Only time will tell if this will come to pass or if we are all just a little bit paranoid. I pray its the latter.

I don't care for Obama, but as was already pointed out, this is not something Obama came up with. These orders go back a good ways into the past, and honestly I highly doubt the president would use that order unless it really was necessary.

I say this because it would be absolute suicide to do so during peacetime, unless there was a disaster that encompassed most of the US. Even in wartime it may not work, depending on who we were fighting. I say this because the people of the US have a certain frame of mind.

Why do we call most people sheep? Because they don't take seriously much of what we discuss on this site, even if it is true. Why is this? Because most of these things have no direct effect on their individual or family lives. If this EO were enacted, everyone would feel it, and THEN Americans would cry for the Constitution in droves. That is when the people would rise up. And I do not buy that the army could even suppress the people, because they are the people, and are sworn to protect liberty and the Constitution.

So all in all, I am not worried about this one bit, since A. this is nothing new; and B. it wouldn't work anyway if it were used tyrannically; and C. Putting this order into effect may actually do what it was designed to do...Continuance of our country and government. So I do not think these are as nefarious as they sound, simply because the country is not as bad off as it would have to be to enact the EO, but if it were, most would want to see as many systems still in place as possible.

I have my gripes with the American government just like many of us, but I will say that when TSHTF, as long as it wasn't the government who brought us down initially, they very well may prevail. We very well may prevail. Wow, that sounded pretty socialistic huh? lolz. Good thread regardless, but we should all take this as an example to research these things more in depth. Doing so in this case would have lightened the load considerably for many of us.

Indeed I was once asked to provide "proof" Obama was laundering money by raping treasury (or in this case the printing press) then investing it into a projects run by his supporters in exchange for campaign donations. Specifically the Green industry among others.

I told the poster that people smart enough and corrupt enough to manipulate their way into the Presidency do not leave trails of evidence that citizens can follow on the internet. They always maintain enough distance through lackies and gofers to have if not an alibi for straight denial - plausible deniability.

We can wish for real evidence in one hand and take a crap in the other and guess which one will fill first….

It is just simple money laundering. Obama (and other politicians as well) can't raid the treasury directly to support his propaganda machine so he takes the back door.

That is his incentive in hard currency - money they can use to continue to remain in power, which is what he covets the most. He has no honor and will use our taxes for his profit – which is more power.

Then there is the double return on investment in virtual currency of buying votes with the treasury funds because this idea of “green energy” panders to his radical environmentalist supporter base. They then all drink-up the (treasury funded) "kool-aid" or propaganda then pull the levers and he gets another four years to rape the treasury. Rinse and repeat.

Anyway - The fact the country elected a shyster lawyer from Chicago to the highest office in the land speaks ill of our collective ability to judge character. Sad IMO

Speaking of Illinois – we all see how healthy their treasury is right now and how great their economy and society in general have become.

They have enacted some of the highest taxes in the country with a lot of the big social programs that go along with it. In return they have among the highest crime rates (see Chicago) and some of the most restrictive laws regarding personal freedoms, low test scores in school, abysmal graduation rates, and high teen pregnancy rates etc… Poverty is rampant in Ill.

In fairness to Obama I personally think a good many of our politicians regardless of party affiliation do this - our country has become corrupt, no better than the Banana Republics we so vehemently ridicule.

That said, in this case the "government" which is "lead" ( a lose term in this case) by the Obamaites right now is most certainly the most corrupt I have seen in the last 30 years. It seems they don’t even care to hide it – they are rubbing our noses in it.

Americans sit safe in their homes and think we are better than those countries because they use violence to achieve power; however, we use coercion lies, fraud and economic manipulation. I see little difference - except at least in the Banana Republics the politicians are straight forward about being thugs and criminals.

We here realize (I believe) that ROMNEY is just more of the same........and I really don't know what it will take to make the a "change we can NOT BELIEVE IN but can trust!"

Reminds me of the movie I am watching....State of Play.....the US is the playground paved by the lives who faught for freedom and since Nixon we have been in a "state of play." Only for those who are in the circle - not for those family members of loss loved ones. Oh, this is nothing, just wait till he gets re-elected (as scarry as it sounds you know he will). My bad.......had multiple thoughts going, with various threads going and accidentally said Nixon! You are exactly right and the evolution of the nanny state did begin with FDR; and BO only knows how to act upon what he was taught. I am sure FDR has been his muse for some time now - probably reinforced every Sunday while he sat in Rev. Wright's church allowing for his continued indoctrination of an Ameritopia Progressive Purple State, which has been our reality and all the while. That was the left hand and America has been busy with the right hand so to speak as we stand strong in party lines as dems or repubs and in all reality behind closed doors the agendas are all the same.

No matter how much people get riled up about this, nothing will happen. Nothing will change? Why? Because no one cared when little kids started getting felt up by the TSA in airports on a daily basis by strangers and potential child predators.

That should have been the line in the sand, but it wasn't, and neither will this be or anything else. Everyone is going to sit down and wait for Iran to get attacked, and shortly after we will be bombed to kingdom come and no one will do a damn thing but sit there and pray to God to save them.

For the past decade, law after law has been passed that has systematically destroyed our freedoms, in the dead of night while we sleep.

It's over. It's too late to turn the ship around.

I disagree. They've been beating the war drums for so long now. They needed to get a boogeyman so they tried to blame Ahadinejad for 9/11 to get people on their side. I think something is going to happen, it's just a matter of time.

I don't think it will necessarily come that quickly. Remember that the Executive Orders associated with Operation Garden Plot (the camps, etc) were issued back in the mid eighties. They run on a timetable of extreme gradualism, so it's very difficult to know exactly when it will happen.

I do think, however, that there has been an acceleration in the amount of this sort of legislation that has started to accumulate in the last two decades, though. It makes me wonder how much of it the system can stand, before it collapses entirely. The degree of police brutality in response to protests recently, is particularly concerning.

It might not happen this Autumn, in other words...but I think it is coming.

I gotta agree, I don't think this'll happen this fall. But personally, I feel the fix is already in and obama'll get re-elected (shutter) the thing is will there be another election? That's where all this might come into play. Cause lets face it, he gets re-elected, the gloves come off and then he'll do exactly what he wants.

Aaa and he made it illegal to own gold and silver, so big gov took it from everyone....
