I see nothing wrong with Big Game hunting. Its a hobby. Dont like it? Dont look at it. Also , generally what happens is big gamers donate the meat o local villiages any how. So you get the sport of hunting such a renowned beast , but do not waste their flesh and life and it is used. Its a win win situation.

our ancestors use to hunt and kill and eat mammoth, whats the difference between those and elephants.

Good for him and took down some of the toughest most dangerous game that you can hunt.

The animals he hunted are in no way defenseless, they are some of the most dangerous game in the world to hunt.

Im and avid hunter and enjoy it, theres nothing that brings you back to how your ancestors felt then tracking and taking down game, I dont waste the meat I use it.

Who are all of you who say that this is disgusting, people have lived off of meat for thousands of years, lived off of hunting. People are happy with a prized kill, big deal. You would be happy to if you just took down a 1600lb water buffalo or a leopard that could have killed you if you missed your shot.

Its disgusting the amount people judge someone they don't even know,

So many wrong things with your statements.
First of all, our ancestors had to hunt because they didnt have meat readily available to them. Fortunate for most of us, we do. I have nothing against hunting and as a matter of fact I love being out in nature and hunting for my own food. Let's call it what it is, the Trump kid is boasting the fact that he is rich and privilaged and was able to take down a few exotic animals. Couldn't going out to the mountains and taking out a few elk or deer be a better option? Of course not, its all about being able to boast at the end.

The animals that he hunted are endangered or getting there due to poachers and the ever growing civilization that are pushing out these animals out of their habitat. I saw a show on National Geographic regarding lions not being able to survive in the wild anymore due to being driven out by villages that are expanding. Cant go one way cause a herd of water buffalo is ready to kill them, cant go the other way cause villagers are ready to shoot them. Oh and on top of that watch out for the poachers and hunters. An no, I wouldnt be happy taking out a lion or buffalo unless he came stampeding at me in the city. Im not going where he lives to invade their space. That is their home, not mine.

The animals that he hunted were not endangered and not getting their due from poachers because the money spent by the Trumps and other like them go to the ranch and locals who police the grounds and help stop poachers from entering their property.

And I have never seen a water buffalo stalk a lion in an attempt to kill it.

The one with the Leopard and Elephant are very distasteful.

And no, I didn't forget the second line!

Funny how you can bash hunting yet have a Predator as your avatar.

I guess if we were hunting humans with laser beams attached to our heads that would be ok for you.

OH DAMN!! Ok you got me man... Im really an intergalactic alien big game hunter that hunts humans for sport, But only those with guns and never pregnant women.

You waskaly wabbits have uncovered my ploy to undermine hunting so me and my clan can holiday here in peace and hunt to our hearts content........

The Predator is a fictional character from a movie genius and an Avatar is not always literal. Its a SYMBOL, and you would have to know me and my interpretation of said symbol to understand what it conveys. I guess simple minds see simple things but on to the topic.

As for arrows. Im sure 99% of the hunters that actually DO hunt with bow and arrow use compound bows or crossbows and have either carbon fiber arrows with tungsten heads. Or alloy arrows with stainless steel heads. Never seen an army of rednecks in cammo gear sporting a 2m long wooden bow and wooden arrows in tights running through the forest hunting Deer or Boar and sometime Rabbits, Which is what bows are manly used for.

Your arguments are weak....but this does not surprise me.

Also my stance on hunting for food has been documented.

edit on 15-3-2012 by TiM3LoRd because: (no reason given)

Yes but you establish yourself on ATS with an avatar, and that avatar is a fictional character in a series of movies in which its only true purpose is to TROPHY HUNT HUMANS!! Thats the only point I was trying to make. I really don't think that you are a predator sitting in front of a computer.

And there are many many many hunters in my area that I know of that hunt with a long bow and homemade arrows. You seriously have no clue about archery hunting or hunting in general.

As a matter of fact, the first buck my father ever shot was with a long bow, with homemade arrows.

I saw your position on hunting for food....so maybe you should do some research on the matter at hand. The animals that were harvested, not killed, were used to feed locals and ranch hands.

we do encourage it in Montana and we charge out of staters at least 200% higher then locals get to do it for probably even more if they come from over seas so yeah we encourage it and it adds to our economy and as Montana seemed to make a profit last year it seems to work and as a lot of funds get transferred back into conservation i have no problem seeing how the locals could benefit from it and as a Montana resident (with a surplus of deer) any one who wants to hunt is more then welcome just do it legally and ethically and i dont think the locals will mind either

watch swamp people very rarely are they just shot floating around or on the bank as its alot harder to get the meat and hide.they control the population and feed the locals and primarily hunt with .22's or smaller and usually only shoot the gators after they have either caught them on a line with bait or with a custom made trebble hook(no idea why its called that btw) and reel them in by hand alot more complicated then just popping them by the shore if ya ask me....and btw did any one see in season one of axe men when shelby shot and then promptly traded a squirrel for work some people only have access to what they can catch and it can become a form of currency for those in impoverished areas or to others a sign of independence and a way of not depending on stores to survive

This cat is so cool. Would it not be pretty awesome
to be one of his home boys?
I think the pictures could of been taken a little better
and I doubt he had a pro photographer. The pics do
not look as stunning as they could have. The feeling you
must get when you road kill a elephant must be almost
like drug induced euphoria. The lepard looks beautiful, it would
look real stunning as a live effect wall mount in a big den, a log
cabin/vacation home, back in the wood.
I would also love to get a pair of tusk. This guy
is super lucky to be able to get to kill such huge wild animals.
Killing something 500% bigger then you would be magnificant
feat accomplished by the best predetor on this planet, the humans.
How you become a man in tribes.

im almost positive it was a leopard not a cheetah as from what ive seen from watching nat geo cheetahs arent exactly hunted all that commonly as africa tends to conspire to kill their babies on its own pretty well(lions will go out of their way to kill cheetah cubs)and as cheetahs seem pretty used to humans they will often sit on the roofs of filmmakers range rovers or tourist cars to get a better vantage point as they seem pretty tolerant of human contact and the fact that they arent largely hunted compared to most other animals in africa(water buffalo, cape buffalo, gazelle and perhaps zeebras?) www.youtube.com... and as evidenced by that video if a cheetah does show up it tends to not (apparently) immediately try to maul the humans in the jeep....so i think they arent hunted for sport as they dont act very threatening or evasive of humans so aside from coats or rugs they would prove no real advantage for hunters looking for "dangerous game"
(hope that works its my first attempt)

and for comparison
www.kalahari-trophy-hunting.com...

and fyi that was a game warden being almost eaten not a hunter

Why can't the locals hunt for themselves? And why can't the little worms go to a restaurant if they want to eat? These little pansy-@** chumps are cowards. Nothing but destructive, useless, small cowards. And I absolutely HATE creatures like them.

In what way at all does this effect you so much that you have to call people you don't know anything about "pansy cowards who you hate"

They went on a trophey hunt, donated the meat to locals so it wouldn't be wasted and were able to help boost the local economy. The only reason you and all the people who are bashing them is because of who they are.

If they werent the Trumps nothing would be said. Thousands of people go on Safaris every year and nothing is said, but the minute it is someone like this...bring out the skeptics and followers.

Look..Im a hunter, but whatever I hunt, I eat. I have had venison for Thanksgiving for the last ten years, instead of turkey. Hunting for sport, or trophy, to me is just illogical. Especially the elephant, I mean c'mon, look at that Doucheb@g, cutting off the elephants tail. I thought the hunting of elephants was illegal

# the meat they killed a leopard there was no need for that
people need meat go hunt a trump..... get rid of some useless turds and feed some villagers
that leopard was worth more to me than trumps entire family

(the leopard and elephant piss me right the # off not trying to hate on ALL hunting)

Speaking as one o' them rednecks, the only bows I use to hunt with are the ones I make myself. Nary a compound bow in the bunch. They're not quite 2m long, but generally run around 5' 10", and are usually made from Black Locust. Nary a bit of carbon fiber, composite, alloy, or stainless steel in the whole rig.

Some of us rednecks are far too neanderthalian to use yer fancy city-slicker hi-tech doo-dads.

How is that human arrogance at its finest?

Its not like it was wasted, the meat went to local villages, if you love the animals so much go live with them be like the grizzley man and live with them

Oh by the way the Grizzily Bears that he lived with ended up killing and eating him so...

A treble hook is 3 hooks on one shank spaced 120 degrees apart to make the hooking more likely and harder to slip.

"Treble" = "triple".

www.kalahari-trophy-hunting.com... if any one was interested in the cost and animals on the menue so to speak and pricelist (kinda weird animals on their and i was suprised to see cheetah on their as well as baboon...) so i think the 15% tax they get charged ends up going to the animal refuge or the state for conservation? either way i bet that adds up quickly

www.kalahari-trophy-hunting.com... and info on how large of an area and how they go about their hunts

4. What is the size of the hunting area and what species are available? Uitspan Ranch, our base here in the Kalahari, is a 7000 hectares (17 300 acres) area where we hunt on. We only have high fences on the outer borders of the ranch. Furthermore, do we also hunt on several other ranches in the Kalahari and in central Namibia, depending on the species our clients want to hunt. These areas are huge and the animals are free roaming. We hunt the Hartmanns Zebra in their natural habitat in Khomas Hochland, the mountaineous area near Windhoek. This is always a thrilling experience. Near the international airport we have another special area where we hunt especially Warthogs, but Waterbuck, Kudu, Hartebeest, Oryx and Baboon can also be found here. We start most hunts at this place because it is not a long drive for the clients to do after their long flights. The Kalahari is our prime hunting area and famous for the best quality trophies, especially on Oryx, Springbok, Eland, Impala, Kudu and Blue Gnu. We have the species like Duiker, Steenbok, Black Gnu, Giraffe, Red Hartebeest and Blesbok also available here.

You're an 'ell of a man, guvner, just an 'ELL of a man!

Lemme know the next time you decide to walk the 37 miles to the nearest restaurant, wife and kids in tow, and make your purchase there by trading 'em some wicker baskets the little missus wove for you. THAT I gottta see.

City-dwellers kill me, they just plain slay me, thinking you can just walk down to the corner for every little thing.

Is it a BAD thing that folks like you just slay me?

Careful - don't spill that Perrier!
