Hi! I’m so glad you’re here I have to tell you what happened the other night.

Well you know how I’ve been complaining about my broken arm for the past few days? The night before last I must have rolled over on it while I was sleeping. I woke up around 2:30 am and that sucker was throbbing like a mother.

Since I was already awake I decided to take my dog for a walk. He’s just a little guy a Chihuahua named Bear he kind of looks like this…

I live in Phoenix back in a neighborhood that’s pretty quiet at 2:30 in the morning. (I planned on giving this big description but my typist is tired and hungry so I will skip some details.)

About a block from my apartment is a small public park. It’s only 100 yards or so square. It’s a nice clean little park the city maintains it very well but the lights are turned off after 10 pm. It’s very dark toward the center because it’s bordered by roads on three sides and an elementary school on the west side meaning there is very little ambient light.

We began walking along the east side of the park heading south. As we approached the south side of the park I glanced over toward the school and saw the strangest thing.

There were between six and eight maybe nine people performing some kind of ritual or praying. Being 60-75 yards away and the poor light it was difficult to see them. Now thinking about it I really don’t remember much about them.

I think I saw them before they saw me. Because at first they were facing each other but they were in some type of formation. After a moment they all quickly formed a circle. I don’t know if it was because of me or if it was normal. I couldn’t tell if they were swaying or rotating but they always seemed to be moving /shifting.

It may sound as though I stood there for a while but really it all happened in about 30 seconds.

I’m not adding anything just sharing what happened. They didn’t come after me, Bear didn’t freak out I don’t think he even noticed them.

I just quietly turned around and went home. I didn’t sleep very well for the rest of the night. I guess not knowing can make a person anxious.

So does anyone know what they were doing? Is it a religion? Wiccan?
I’m not judging.
I’m just curious.

Before she leaves I would like to thank my typist Suzette.

What made you think they were doing a ritual/praying? You didn't reveal that detail.

Thanks.

Dear Suzette,

You forgot "Suzette is the greatest woman in the world, and I'm going to shower her with gifts after my arm heals."

To the story, not sure, but most likely kids playing around.

It sounds to me like a prayer circle, where they holding hands? Kind of odd time, unless they work the night shift or something.

Even christians do prayer circles though, so cannot say what religion it might be.

OP said they were facing each other in a formation, then shifted to form a circle, and seemed to be swaying or rotating.

Interesting find, OP. I know some people who did this type thing late at night a long time ago, when they were younger. Typically a Pagan type of ritual...of course Pagan covers a lot of religions, so....good luck specifying without more info.

I don't know just how they were acting.

It looked kind of ritualistic and it was 2:30 - 2:45am. I thought maybe a moon thing.

Could have been a number of things. Stoners passing a stone, Christians praying for your city, members of AA meeting outside, a group of Walmart stockers on lunch break, like you said maybe even Wiccans doing whatever it is they do. It could have been a bukkake film being made(it's best to film those outside and when people aren't out and about). Or a crowd that just left the club or bar. Could be anything. I would not worry too much. Just be careful when walking the streets late at night.

Next time you can take a walk to see if they meet on the regular. I'm curious if you'll bump into them again. Hopefully they're just teenagers up late and being weird. When I was a teen I would hang out in parks, docks, beaches, somewhere outside while hanging with friends and having a really good time, but we never got weird and found ourselves in formation. Drunk people don't fall in formation, they just fall

Off that info it could be anything. A rape club meetup in the park at 2 am or

A Masonic Ritual taking place at some location. Maybe even a group of positively aligned individuals having a meeting for less nefarious purposes than the first 2 groups lol

If it was some kinda ritual under the moon Ide place my bet on a group of masons.

I like you. Always good for a laugh or thoughtful response. I remember being 12 and having a big group meet up late. We met up to pass around pilfered booze and smoke cigarettes. A few times someone would walk by and yell at us, come up and yell at us, come up and join us, or walk away and call the cops. Funny, a group of youngins trying to b cool probably does look creepy to me now. Stupid mid twenties.

I'm curious to what they were actually doing. You haven't really provided any description or details as to why you believe they were performing a ritual.

Why on earth would a bunch of Masons be out larking in a park when they have perfectly good Lodges set up for purpose?
OP why don't you go to the same spot during the day, if some sort of ritual was taking place you can bet there would be still evidence of it. Otherwise I'd just write it off as doggers or a gang of bored teenagers.
It's not uncommon to find idiots still out in a park at 2.30 am here swigging special brew and looking for a Goth to kick in.

Tell me some more

This could easily just have been a few kids or younger teens who were playing around (especially since this is the first time you have seen them)

The moon was 67% full, so I would keep in mind two things. 1. Keep an eye out and see if you see them a second time around that part of the morning. 2. Keep an eye on the moon and see if they show again around the same phase of the moon.

I think a park is not the most discreet place to meet up for that sort of thing, and it could just be some kids who read a 'spooky thing' on the internet and were looking for some entertainment. It is certianly something to keep an eye on though.

This link may be helpful if you have more information on them / see them a second time
www.watchman.org...

Do you have any more information on them. Such as attire, numbers of them, etc?

You are very sparse with the details, such as the precise date. But it apparently was the night when Daylight Saving Time went into effect or the night after that, and these may have been people whose sleep patterns were disrupted by the changeover.

Also, you may have stumbled upon a group that was walking home from someone's big party - and when they realized you were there, it reminded them to be considerate of the neighbors trying to sleep at that hour, so they clustered together to keep their noise down.

Ever notice how when a gang goes home, the tend to linger for a while at the place where the group splits up to go in different directions? Maybe it was something as simple as that?
