Thought I'd share this. I've been going to the same doctor for over 15 years. Same office, etc. Well, I haven't been in around about a year and figured I'd get my annual checkup, and since I have a nasty head cold, I thought it would be a good time to kill 2 birds with 1 stone (so to speak).

I called the office and they said I have to arrive 30 minutes early because I'm not in the new system. I have to also bring the follwoing.

1: Insurance Card
2: PHOTO IDENTIFICATION!

I got a laugh, and called the lady a racist. She didn't "get it". I had to explain that asking for photo ID is now considered "racist" by the Obama Administration.

if photo ids were issued to all residence free of charge this would make sense
however they do cost money and should therefor not be required to vote
voting should cost nothing.... direct or not
and that is a perfectly valid argument

so you want to argue that you need an id to vote the first thing you need to do is waive the fee on identification cards and issue them to all residence rather than require some ass backwards process that requires you to take off work and pay a fee (isnt this what taxes are for?) for something that is almost required to be able to live in the country

Exactly why Obama's DoJ doesn't want people to have to show a photo ID - it would disenfranchise illegals voting illegally. It would also prevent a lot of other voter fraud from occurring.

My question is...who DOESN'T have a "State issued ID" in 2012?

I actually agree with you. States who require ID should offer a photo-ID free of charge as a state identification card.

But I don't think for even a second that the Obama Administration is fighting the new rules on the basis of the ID laws being unfair due to this reason. They specifically are worried that their massive base of illegal voters could be jeopardized .. they don't want to lose their votes. If state offered free ID's and required those ID's at the polls it's likely they would try to fight that too.

(I don't think photo ID will deter illegals voting that much though .. all the Illegals I ever worked with had drivers licenses. But if you add strict punishments to voter fraud, which for some reason this country has practically no laws against voter fraud, it would hopefully deter both illegal and legal residents from cheating)

i think these imaginary lines drawn are the map are obsolete in a world that is becoming increasingly globalized

however for the time being its kind of ridiculous for people to be voting when they are not citizens ...it sets dangerous (again only for the time being)precedent in allowing votes from outside parties think russia china israel iran etc. could just cram a plane full of their own citizens and come vote! insane right?

It's amazing how in America today, if you DON'T have something that is required by almost every Federal and State function (Like VOTING) suddenly you are "Downtrodden" and "discriminated against".

So what this is is saying is that "Hispanics" require special privileges and the rest of us (meaning EVERY single other race) and ethnicity should once again cater tho their 'special needs' or else we're all 'racist'.

I'm getting it more and more...

Screw the law, screw what's fair....we got "special people" that need "special attention" and can claim 'racism' and voila.

Wanna fight Illegal Immigration within the law? Nope you can't. Why? Because it's racist against "Hispanics". Why? Dunno why....maybe because most Illegal Immigrants come from over the Southern Border? Well that's just a geographical issue.

why do you have hispanic in quotes? and rather than say illegal immigrants you initially refer to the group only as "hispanics" this implies all hispanics are illegal immigrants regardless of if you meant to or not or that illegal immigrants from mexico are generally refered to as hispanic (california here and i rarely here the term hispanic)
so just out of curiousity how many mexican friends do you have?
you do make good points but your post seems to be oozing hate but it is hard on to interpret on the internet
so could you honostly clarify how you feel about people from mexico in general? (it will not detract from your arguments)

your argument sounds good but it isnt how it is, i have to have a valid photo ID to buy liquor, i have to have a valid ID to buy guns, some pharms, etc, even if i am walking down the street, and a police officer asks me for ID i am required to have it on hand......so why not be required to vote? i agree we shouldnt have to pay for something that is required, but it is what it is! i also work in an industry that deals heavily with illegals, and let me tell you it churns my stomach how many get caught monthly and we fire them or report them IMO why make it easier for them to vote the people into office that they want if they are not legal?? like i said i agree we should not have to pay for some required government documentation, but i do think it should be required, free of charge or for a more nominal fee, and also more offices per city to reduce wait time...............

This may be a good test. See how many votes Obama gets in states that have voter ID laws. If he scores better in states without it, then..... I think that's why they're against it, they have a harder time cheating when the dead and illegals can't vote.

Many, and they know how I feel. Even the Mexican girls I've dated and the one's I have as friends. But you won't believe me so instead I'll just say "Blah Bah Blah Blah Blah I hate Mexicans".

Mexicans should have overthrown their leaders and hung every drug lord in the streets. Good people overall though. The one's in Mexico City and the more populated areas are not as cool as the farmers and 'country' Mexicans. I can't stand Americanized "Vatos" or "Chicano" attitudes. Illegal Immigrants are great people for the most part. I just know that Illegal Immigrations has RUINED my city of Los Angeles and my State...California.

But "Mexican" is a Nationality...not a race. So how could I be 'racist' against Mexicans...firstly. Secondly...are Mexicans even "Hispanic" by default? Thirdly....I have every right as an American citizen to fight laws that cater to a certain class of people before others, like the one's in the OP. And I don't apologize for the realization that our laws are more and more catering to subgroups and cultures who SCREAM the loudest.

fair enough but you have to understand that most people taking a similar stance do so for all the wrong reasons and its hard not to be suspicious

my opinion is illegal immigrants havent ruined much of anything at all theyre no more guilty than the people who will hire them for below minimum wage
if they paid a fair wage competition (influx of new people willing to do the job) would force many illegals out and if they can do a better job for the same (minimum or higher)wage i say let them.... as long as the money stays in the country and cycles through our economy rather than back over the boarder to help their families then far more good than harm is being done
theres plenty of blame to go around and as always the motivating factor seems to be greed (cheap workforce=large profits and an entire industry that would lose their jobs if the boarder was no longer an issue.... and its bad when people lose their jobs)

I will agree cheap workforce=large profit. But I would ask why would they be willing to work for cheap? Because illegal immigrants have learned that what they don't make at their job the Government will supply for them food healthcare and even now free education.

If the average American was given the same support as illegal immigrants we to would be willing to work for cheap. Don't be fooled this "cheap-labor" as one would call it is not as cheap as one would think. I knew of many contracting companies paying top dollar $20+ under the table to illegal immigrants.

Well how do I know these workers were illegal you may ask. When you are told not to drive around the construction sites slow watching work them because the last time it happened the workers left for about a week before they decided to come back to work.

IF TX is anything like the SC protocols of getting a photo ID then it is rough to prove you exist and are actually who you claim you are


the motor vehicle dept (DMV) in SC issues all certified ID cards...which are not Passport IDs
and i had to produce the actual birth certificate and naturalization documents to get an ID card issued for $15.


the SC DMV would not recognize copies of the required documents which the USA Justice Department sent to me under FOIA before the DHS took over the Immigration and Naturalization Department..

i brought the Justice Dept., Post Marked, mailing envelope containing the 22 separate pages of my life history from birth to citizenship...and the clerk said i needed the original papers/documents not photo copies even if the Department of Justice sent them from their archives


SO --- according to the SC DMV, they outrank the Federal Justice Department...i guess that is both good-&-bad

well.... logic would dictate that they work for cheap because they arent legitimate citizens and cant find work else where and these criminally low wages are still better than they would be paid in mexico


and again you want to place blame dont blame the guy trying to feed his family you blame the programs that are giving the hand outs ( i would like to see some figures on this by the way but i do agree if they need help they shouldnt be getting tax money unless they agree to stay in the country and become citizens spending their money here rather than in mexico where the dollar goes farther)
the only problems are keeping the money in the country and allowing for fair competition
i think you fail to realize how long illegal immigration has been a problem (far longer than these governments programs you speak of)

I don't get what the big deal is.

I'm in Texas and I had to have both my Voter ID Card and a picture ID (I used my driver's license) the last time I voted. I thought that was the norm here until this law happened (and then didn't happen, and then happened, and then didn't....).

Even if you don't need a driver's license, its still pretty easy to get a state-issued ID. A lot of schools require you have some form of picture ID, even if its theirs. Its so ridiculously easy to get a picture ID here that it shouldn't be an issue.

But I guess it is an issue if you can't legally obtain one.
