It has begun (again). Congressman Walter Jones has started an impeachment process on Obama.

Finally someone has done what others have talked about for a long time! Started the impeachment process on the dictator of the United States!

I clicked the link and that is the bill folks have been talking about that would, if passed, make it a very black and white impeachment offense if they blow off the War Powers act...but the headline gave the impression that someone had actually started the process of bringing an indictment against Obama as happened with Clinton?

Thanks for the follow-up. You got me curious so I did a bit more looking into who he is.... I hope he gets sponsors so this may go somewhere. I'm sure he's a peach of a fellow to this own district. He must be. He's been in office since 1995. There is something I found that leaves me wishing ANYONE else ...well...ALMOST anyone else ( ) brought this.

There should be major consequences for this guy to pay WHEN this impeachment fails.

It was the same with Bill Clinton, GOP would only press for impeachment instead of actually wanting to work with the guy, the impeachment failed but there were zero consequences for the people who bought the impeachment forward.

This is the problem with frivulous law, there are vast sums of money spent defending yourselves against it and no consequences for the person who bought the suit.

If the suit fails, the person who instigated it should have to pay the costs of both sides.

Sure I'm sure of myself in saying that the people who bring frivulous law suits or other legal charges should have to pay the legal costs of both sides if they lose. Several countries (including the UK) have a similar system in place.

What's wrong with that? If the Government (or any one else) brings a charge against you that they can't prove, why should you have to pay for your own defense?

Trust me, there would be a MASSIVE drop in lawsuits across the country if this were the case.

In the UK, after a frivulous lawsuit has been settled, there is often a "costs" portion of the judgement, where the judge will award costs of both sides to one side or another (usually the losing side) or will split costs (ie each side pays their own costs) if there is a split judgement.

OR are you saying I'm sure of myself cause I'm saying "WHEN this fails"?

I'll agree entirely with you in so far as there is no basis what so ever to impeach Obama at this point in time. If he invades Iran or Syria and the pretexts aren't rock solid...and they better be in hindsight, too ...then I think that all changes.

If Bush did it, and in Iraq at least, I entirely agree he did......and if Obama does it and gets away with it, where does it stop? Yesterday Iraq, today Iran...where are we going next? What nation does Romney really have it in for? The precedent will not only be set but confirmed. He might as well go for it by then. Or..whoever else becomes President.

It has to stop somewhere. So ...If Obama doesn't get us into a new war on false pretext, impeachment is absurd. Agreed. If he does though....Impeachment is the duty of Congress if they have any sense of it left among them.
