UFO means Unidentified Flying Object. It is only an object in the sky that at the time can not be identified. Don't put into it anymore than what it really is.

I am thinking...that they very well may be aliens from another planet (or planets) taking a tour...observing people on earth...and most likely glad they don't live on earth among us.

Or...these are man-made experimental aircraft...out for a test run.

Unless I'm terribly mistaken, this is Easynow - this is just a snarkier, ruder version of that previous poster. He has given up trying to debunk, and now simply ridicules and throws insults out, trying to convince everyone they are "idiots" for even considering a sighting, while laughably adding such comments as "this is why people don't take us seriously." As if he is a UFO believer in any way, shape or form. Just ignore him.. he adds absolutely nothing to threads he graces with his rude, condescending comments.

As far as this sighting goes, I wish there were more than 2 pictures, with some frame of reference. That base is home to an air regiment as well, but I believe the airbase and control tower was added after the date of the sighting. One would think a military base subjected to mystery lights would be quickly investigated by said military - unless no one called anyone of importance, and the things were not on radar, etc. Not nearly enough to go on however, sadly.

If there was something Unidentified in the air-space of any military installation then it would be investigated promptly. The only problem is that we would never be privy to the findings of said investigation.

If it was terrestrial or ex-terrestrial the powers that be would not want the American public to know that They, TPTB, are helpless in defending their own airspace.

Why would a technological advanced alien species show up in the dark, with round ships that are
Illuminated for all to see.

Why would they have multipul ships in a straight line and all Illuminated over a desert backward country like Afghanistan.

The chances that this is a genuine UFO case are as good as me winning next weeks lottery.

I think they are a rehash of the "Pheonix Lights"

Yeah.... Whatever. The USA has lost every war since the 50's. But folks like you cry cry cry that the military is so damn advanced. Give me a break. Our military does have some neat weapons, but they don't win wars, folks who hide in caves and who aren't afraid to die win wars.

I said they maybe military related as the military tests tech in war zones. I know this to be fact for various reasons, not least of which is that i used to have access to a library containing footage of such things - this was whilst at University doing Conflict Resolution. Once trained, we went all over the world to various situations, working closely with peace keeping, etc. As a result, we gained access to "off-limits" material that aided further training. There are many other reasons i could go into but they amount to the point that i know stuff is tested in war zones to be a fact.

You, on the hand, offer absolutely nothing apart from vitriolic comments to various other members. That really makes you rather an odious little individual.

You really think the USA goes to war to "win"? The MIC starts wars for one reason, to continue lining their pockets with trillions of dollars, that's it. If there is no war, then you make a war, and that's exactly what we've seen.

Page 3 and you can see now why I hesitate to post on this forum. Too many people 'join in' who are out and out ugly and mean. No wonder if 'they' (aliens) are out there 'they'd' rather stay hidden. Take one look at this forum and you'll see why. Are you 'naysayers' so sans hope, so full of animosity, so just - sad - that you can't take a look and think for even a moment - MAYBE? JUST MAYBE? If this 'sighting' is a 'secret type military vehicle'? I'm sorry to say I believe we're going to see a LOT more of them as this year progresses also.

Between now and then? Which one would you choose? More military action? Or UFO's/Aliens?

I was just about to say the same thing. Page 3 and it's already off topic and annoying. This site is becoming painful to visit. This is also the reason for MY low post count. I have been a lurker for quite awhile and watched it all go downhill.

That being said, thanks for the OP. I find it interesting and would be interested in hearing if anything more is found out. But as with the lights (foo-fighters) during WWII, we will probably never know. I hope we do see much more of this, and also expect that we will.

Now I am off do do something more relaxing. Perhaps I'll go chew on some tinfoil and peel my fingernails off.

I agree. There are way too many threads that someone starts and then because someone ask a question or makes a remark about the topic that the op doesn't like then suddenly you are a troll and not contributing to the thread.

I for one do not think that ATS is going downhill. ATS has and will always, imho, be one of the greatest sites to stay informed on numerous subjects and a wonderful place for people to post their feelings or beliefs on those issues.

I do believe in alien visitation and I would never knock the op for their post but I don't believe it is the responsibility of other posters to call "troll" if they don't like what someone has to say. Let the op defend his/her post if they care to and let there be a good debate without name calling. If someone is truly trolling then just ignore that person. It's a zoo and the rules are, "don't feed the trolls".

That was the headline from the news article, correct me if i'm mistaken but isn't that protocol of posting on ATS?

Seems to me there are 3 possible explenations here;

-They are Flares released by aircraft, possibly for marking a route or perhaps suspected surface to air missiles in the area, I kinda doubt that that is the case.

-They are Illum rounds fired from howitzers, illumination rounds are used to create light on the battlefield, they are much brighter than flares dropped from aircraft, I wouldn't know why they would be fired in a line like that, that would like require an entire battalion sized element to fire the rounds.

-They are an unexplained phenomena, natural, Extra-Terrestial or black government.

Alien? not so much, UFO's? definitly.
