This is an extremely helpful thread, for which I thank all the above contributors. What I am wondering, and haven't so found the answer to elsewhere (ATS is a very big and multifaceted forum!) is whether there is an area where avatar-uploaders and novice posters generally can submit "test posts" to see if they come out right? Thanks for any advice here.

Sorry but both of these are too large for use on ATS

Avatars

Maximum pixel dimensions: 170 pixels wide by 240 pixels high.

Maximum file size: Remains 75k

Because the layout parameters for page structure is different than the old per-2010 format, overly-tall avatars can make the thread-view a very-tall page.

I don't know where to put this, so I will try here. I would like someone to photoshop me an image of Damascus at night with the Bat Signal being shot into the sky over the city. Something like this: Image

I would like to use it in my signature. If you someone feels like doing it.

This is a great idea for a thread, but the instructions do not match what I'm seeing on the page.

I cannot find an image online that isn't copyrighted.

Creating an original image would not be a problem, but scanning it in would. My scanner does not work.

Looks like I will have to live without an ATS avatar.

thanks for the information - have never been able to figure this out. just got windows 8 - had windows xp up till now. Maybe the new computer and windows 8 will allow me to accomplish getting an avatar.
