Here is an interesting interview in Dec 2011 with Lyn Buchanan. Lyn was one of the original military RV and has operated a successful commercial business in RV.

There lies the benefit of RV. It makes cash for those that dupe the gullible.

Can't tell you if this for real, but it claims to have been written by Ed Dames.
www.remoteviewer.org...

Several days ago, I received a phone call from a distraught father whose child had been kidnapped. This parent related to me how he had called Sergeant Buchanan for help, but that Buchanan's response was, "If I use remote viewing to help you, and the CIA found out, they would come and get me." This is a typical Sergeant Buchanan excuse for not being able to accomplish a mission. (The CIA could care less about him).

Although Buchanan purports that his "Assigned Witness Program" can help assist in locating missing people, the simple fact is, as that child's father discovered, that Lyn cannot stand and deliver, even if he could arrange to take time off from his employment with a computer contractor.

Buchanan states that he cannot produce his records, because they are classified. (I guess the CIA will come and get him if he does). In truth, he does not want to publicly display his primary job title during his assignment: Data Base Manager. His secondary job was to maintain the unit's vehicles.

Here is an interesting look at how bad RV is. Gives a look at the history of the program and some of the stunning failures such as the predicted bombing of Washington DC in the 80s.

www.straightdope.com...

Newsweek also reported that, as if the early years of the program weren't bad enough, it became even worse in the mid-1980's. A senior general would call subordinates together for spoon-bending sessions. One "psychic" wrote a long paper predicting a huge air attack on Washington during a Reagan State of the Union speech. The program offered several suggestions about capturing Saddam Hussein during Desert Storm, and all of them proved utterly useless. And one of the "remote viewers" left the army because he was convinced there was a Martian colony beneath the New Mexico desert.

It must have been that the remote viewer saw Washington attacked in the War of 1812.

That martian colony in NM must be in a different time line.

dont you think that possibly as time has progressed, and knowledge of the workings of the mind have been refined, that some may have the ability to "see" things more accurately?

Not that any clear, sane thinking individual with a smidgen of quantum understanding and a wee bit of Googlesearch wouldn't already know but...from Scientist Dean Radin's personal blog [which btw echoes his studies of RV and his scientific opinion of RV]

Skeptic Agrees RV Is Real

Why would learning more by real researchers have any bearing on this vague "see" you mention? If real scientists do scientific research does that have any bearing on charlatans?

Love the blog that misrepresents what was stated by Wiseman. He agreed that the result would have substantiated a result IF there was any sort of backing to the claim of RV. But since RV does not have backing of the sort of long history of evidence supporting it as do other scientific areas he is asking for more data.

This sort of out of context material is the realm of the charlatan.

The blog also does not include the comments of Hyman who worked with Utts and came to a completely different conclusion. Remember that Utts took part in some of the experiments she evaluated. Both Utts and Hyman reported that the controls needed to be tightened and independent results obtained. With this report in hand and after 20 years of flushing money down the toilet, the remote viewing project was cancelled by the military.

For those interested in Dean Radin's continuing support for the legitimacy of RV, here is a report on Radin's Precognition, Presentiment & Remote Viewing in a conference with Russell Targ.

Targ

Subtle Energies and the Uncharted Realms of Mind

An excerpt:

"Russell Targ's group at SRI International was supported by CIA and defense contracts for most of its existence, so a good deal of their research remains classified. However, in recent years, some intriguing research has been declassified. A number of their studies show that it does not appear to be any more difficult to know the hidden future than to know the hidden present.

Except of course remote viewing is a hoax.

Remote viewing/astral projection is one of the easiest things to test for. Simply lock a random object in a safe miles away, and have your "viewer" name the item. Of course, this fails time and time again.

Nothing to see here.

not so fast sailor. The FBI doesn't think so. The Military Department doesn't think so. So unless you have a PH.D. or 3 and a long distinguished book roster to your name, those comments wont be taken seriously

Yes and a former CIA director started the tabloid news. So now we know they are pushing the boundaries of chaffe, contaminating the field of evidence with unicorns and time travellers and more Hollywood BS

Still no evidence for RV.

Now it is another appeal to authority logical fallacy in which we turn to Dean Radin after finding out what Buchanan was doing on the job.

Targ and Puthoff studied Geller in the 70s and got hoodwinked. They still deny they were unable to catch Geller cheating, but others including Richard Feynmann showed how it was done.

On occasion we will hear from the ill-informed critic whose skepticism outweighs his ability to make any serious effort to understand the art and science of RV. He will invoke the "James Randi Challenge" a well known pile of garbage as attested in this now ancient ATS thread.

It is the whiners and those that know they are fakes that condemn the million dollar challenge.

It has become a mantra of those that know tests will refute their dubious claims.

The million dollar test is safe for now because the world is full of outrageous falsehoods such as RV.

Personally I think Randi hopes someone will win the million dollar prize because it will lead to tens or hundreds of millions of dollars in cash when won.

Still no evidence for RV as working or being scientific which is the basis for the OP which claims that there will be a meteor impact before 2013.

As long as nothing is happening in this thread I might as well point out that meteors don't impact, it is meteorites that impact. A meteor is a flash of light we see in the night sky. The solid thing is called a meteorite.

If it hasn't yet impacted its a meteor

again thank you for keeping this thread a success and relevant.

Actually sir your generalizations are out of place

Which military?

Who in the military said it didnt work?

What you have observed in part is a dispute
(Lyn not helping the guy)

Dames actually from my research is the one who went alien crazy. Hes the one who got into it with Lyn, He caused the bad blood from what little I picked up.

Morehouse also went a little off the ranch so to speak. He is still doing his own thing last I checked

This leaves
Joe M. , Paul Smith, Lyn B, R Targ, and Puthoff

As the main ones operating

As for the Uri Geller, they said under control conditions he demonstrated nothing.

Sir before you go spouting off half cocked you need to fact check.

I for one fully believe in the development of the human minds capabilities. I also believe that a few idiots are holding us back because of religious (note: atheism is a religion, faith in place of evidence is faith)

Let me ask you again.

What where the results of the experiment you ran?

Did You use the Outbounder or Controlled Remote Viewing methods in your experiment?

Who was the monitor for your session?

What was the batting average of your session?

The last question also is applicable to the team you where remote viewing with.

Do you understand why I mentioned the batting average? If not, you need to find another subject and stick to it and stay out of adult conversations. I will explain it if you ask, onlyy one time

BTW- the alien guy you tried to smear the whole CRV's with
(is like saying all Christians are like catholic priest)

Came up with the kill shot theory- just like this thread

(ed Dames)

BTW-
I also formulated a postulate as to how it might work from a skeptics view. How ever the problem is that it requires reverse speech as one of the requirements. But you skeptics never responded

"Why so?"
In 2014 you will figure it out.

Aren't we all so glad our tax dollars went to war instead of the space program? Where is our moon base to shoot away these meterors?! Honestly I don't beleive it, I don't feel that vibe. I See oil as being our global problem.

I see that you have been misled by the OP error and have not read much of this thread and none of the Farsight Org article. So for your convenience...

"This project describes climate and planetary change between the years 2008 and 2013...our research does indeed suggest that major global change is a possibility between now and 2013. However, web site visitors are reminded that this is research, not certitude. Remember what Albert Einstein once said, "If we knew what we were doing, it wouldn't be called research, would it?"

The devil is in the largest of easily found details.
