Sure was. Why else would someone start reading a thread and post in it. Duh. It's a Ron Paul thread. Somehow you don't want me to talk about him. What gives?

You maintain your focus on Paul however. He seems to have you quite shook. Is it that the other contenders' flaws are just much more apparent?

Like I said, this is a Ron Paul Thread. If you want to read about something else, perhaps it's you who should start another thread.

Despite your protests and going through the motions you are only succeding in demonstrating your own limited knowledge and understanding

If my understanding is so limited, you should have little trouble showing me some evidence of where I've gone wrong. Why is it that the Ron Paul supporters in this thread can't seem to provide any evidence or arguments? I've come to expect better from ATS.

You might do well to start another thread in the appropriate forum if you wish to pursue a more in-debth discussion of the Civil War, this is not really the place for it.

But this thread is the place to discuss Ron Paul's lies and Pandering to racists and bigots, so let's talk about that. Mr. Paul is little better than a snake oil salesman. Most of his policies are peddled to cater to folk wisdom and economic old wives tales and other foolish prejudice.

It should be obvious to anyone with more than a cursory knowledge of American history that there was more than merely the matter of slavery involved. There vast volumes written about this.

You should be able to cite a contemporary source that explains that the seceding states were not primarily acting to preserve and extend chattel slavery if that really is the case.

I have already cited sources and made arguments. your side has nothing but appeals to unnamed authority, and personal incredulity. Those are not arguments.

Let us move on to another of Ron Paul's appeals to folk wisdom and nonsense. I suggest we discuss his economic ideas. What say you?

OK, top slot on a Google search - About.Com American History
Top Five Causes of the Civil War Leading up to Secession and the Civil War
americanhistory.about.com...

The Civil War lasted from 1861 to 1865 and led to over 618,000 casualties. Its causes can be traced back to tensions that formed early in the nation's history. Following are the top five causes that led to the "War Between the States."

1. Economic and social differences between the North and the South.
2. States versus federal rights.
3. The fight between Slave and Non-Slave State Proponents.
4. Growth of the Abolition Movement.
5. The election of Abraham Lincoln.

There is discussion on each of those points if you care to follow the link. It is short and concise, an easy read. I hope About.com is sufficiently neutral for you.

Actually this thread's title is "Ron Paul Is Secretly Taking Over The GOP — And It's Driving People Insane" so that could possibly be a bit off-topic here, but no worse than it has already gotten, I suppose.

You seem to be quoting me here, but I assume you are having difficulty with BB coding as I believe this is part of your direct reply.

I suppose if you wish to enumerate and elaborate on why Ron Paul's not so "secretly taking over" is driving you insane, please, by all means, carry-on.

There is a couple of things you have to watch out for. Word is the board of governors/fed reserve bank are scared of Ron. And that there are at least 11 governors who are set to throw the race when it gets to their location. This was seen in Iowa, New Hampshire, Maine, and Florida..already. What they are doing is closing off the voting booths, and then not registering that district.

Rothschild owns all the media news outlets through Azurite Press, and he was given a 'Natural Monopoly' by the Supreme C. in the 80's? and then recently the SC ruled the news 'entertainment' and has a right to lie! ...and so they are hiring actors.Whats worse is the news casters all get the same scripts, so you will hear key phrases monotonously repeated by all of them for that reason.
If you look at the bottom of the screen during the races..you'll notice the box marked for votes in..it is constantly at 'zero' when they are literally 'calling' the race to whom ever their script says, before the votes are counted..anywhere!

All you get are counts of some of the districts. There are more than 7 at a time being closed off and no voting occurs. And they are all in Ron Supporters areas.

Acorn did not 'disband' it broke into 'operational cells' and spread like a cancer! They are renamed, into smaller groups, and they still control the elections.

Rothschild is screwing with the election in order to keep a 'banker friendly' Pres in his pocket. He knows he cant control Ron Paul. Whom ever gets the election is the one that Rothschild means to get it, unless you call the news media out on it.

If you bothered to read the article you linked to there, you would clearly see that #'s 1,3,4 &5 all actually revolve around slavery. And #3 was really only at issue because of the others.

So I'm not giving you any points for linking to about.com, which only supports my version of events. Nonetheless, I note that I specifically challenged you to find a pro-secession source from before the civil war that emphasized other issues to the exclusion of slavery.

Anyway, why don't we talk about Ron Paul's occult ideas about precious metals being the only sound money.

Perhaps better if you start a new thread on that rather than going further off-topic here. Besides, you've already made the point presented by this thread, i.e., Paul's momentum is driving you insane. Right, got that.
