No, but as per the design of what the Fed Govt was supposed to do, and what taxes were designed for, the application of tax funds going to Military, Roads, and Schools is what it was designed to do.
Not give food stamps to people, Health Care Crap and every other want under the sun.

Heard Ramstein is colder than a polar bears tootsies lately, hope it warms up and you get out and enjoy the fasching BTW. I always thought it was so cool when the women storm the Rathaus in landstuhl and cut all the men's ties!

But that is beside the point.

I think people should be as self reliant as possible, but i think social welfare is necessary in modern society.

I do not think it should be the governments place to provide this welfare, I think it should be up to us to provide it to our fellow man without government interference.

However, reality is, many people do not want to care for their fellow man out of their own sense of charity, which is why the govt has a security net in place.

I am not a Christian, but one thing I will say is the Christian churches provide a lot of charity in the world, and I have a ton of respect for that. Also humanitarian groups do a lot of good. Sure, it could be argued they pull a bait and switch, and yes, sometimes they do, but overall their efforts are sincere I think.

I am fiscally conservative and socially liberal, I do not pick parties, but see the good in each and the bad, I do agree with everyone posting that there needs to be a middle way, the Tao of politics!

Taking sides is just divide and conquer, and that sux!

And for the record, Ranstein is nearby but I'm on an Army base, not Air Force.

But we are looking at @ 6 inches of snow (if you can trust the 21st Operational Weather guys.)

And it's cool we disagree, I wouldn't expect you to agree with everything. Being military related myself, I understand everyone's got their own POV, we all come from different backgrounds, walks of life, each bringing unique stuff to the discussion table.

In the military, if you are not tolerant and respectful of people's differences you get flamed,so I am not about to flame you, just say I disagree and why, then if you want to discuss further, cool, if not, then I said my peace, ya know?

As one of my favorite Germans once said, "alles klar commissar!"

And I am sure by now you are used to the military insults, so no need to go there on that one
