There are a great many bad things happening, but a great many good things as well.

It seems that most religions look at humanity as one big experiment, that could succeed or fail. I don't think the jury is in yet, but I suspect that we will soon be culled by looming realities.

It is plausible that God is an alien, why not?

I think the bigger truth is that the after life is even more challenging, that reaching the next higher level means developing the skills to get there, because it will even more complex and confusing. If there is an afterlife.

I would say that offing yourself to get to some afterlife paradise, however, is very foolish.
