Since Saturday, there has been this constant light in the sky. It appears the same time every day ( or about i dont exatly go outside the same times) The moon is always to the left, and this thing is to the right of the moon. It flickers, very fast changing colors rapidly. It doesn't move, and even after the moon as moved some the flickering is in the same exact spot. I have a HTC EVO 3d Im going to try and capture it but i know it wont look good. It's nothing like anything else in the sky. This thing looks like it is powered, or alive or what have you. Now it could be a star that is just far enough away to look like its flickering rapidily, but it just seems odd I never noticed it. Anyone else on the East Coast or anywhere else in the country noticing something like this? Its def not on earth as where i am located there is anything close by that cold generate that. Ie towers, airports, plus the position is well about the sky line. I also live in area where they do not use street light so I can get a clear view of the sky at night.

Any thoughts? Suggestions?
Just relized i posted in FragileEarth not Aliens and UFOS How can I move it?

Debunker's pov: "Probably a translucent bird that swallowed a Christmas light bulb."

But now really, try and capture it on camera, we'd be glad to see it too!
And try to check with your neighbors and friends if they see it too. Honestly though, I think you're lying because if it was true then it would probably be all over the news by now and someone else would have already captured it on camera.

Well again it looks like a star... Im not saying its UFO or not. It just seems odd. I dont think anyone would notice unless i said hey stand right here.. look at the light right there does it look odd. But again it def could just be a star that is flickering from particle in the atmosphere. But it just seems to be flickering way to much. I will try tog et a picture, i doubt it will come out well. But i def will try.

You might want to try Google Sky or a similar software to find out.

Suggestion? Try and borrow a better camera from a friend, especially if it appears at a predictable time.

Yeah that would be my second guess, that it didn't look so weird after all. Then sorry for flaming at you but hey, one thing I learned from the world we live in is that if it really were something to worry about we'd know it, MSM would report it massively around the globe. As much as I am on a conspiracy forum and like conspiracies, I don't think that the MSM wouldn't warn us if something was really happening. Well, at least I like to believe so.

I'm located in NY and that light you're talking about has been there for the longest. I always thought it was a satellite system. It's definitely nothing new and it's always been in the sky, as long as I can remember at least. Nothing to worry about.

I realize you are new here, so ... omg!!! What is that light in teh sky is freaking me out! (click to find out)

The 3 brightest lights in the sky are Moon, Venus, and Jupiter.

Venus is really amazingly bright. Jupiter gives Venus a run for her money.
I doubt you're seeing the moon and not recognizing it for being the moon, so, yeah, then there's the moon.

If you have a smart phone, there's apps you can download that let you point your phone at stuff in the sky and it will TELL you what you are seeing.

Considering that there are at least 2 or 3 threads a week freaking out over Jupiter or Venus, I'm going to go with the statistical probability that this light you are seeing is either Jupiter or Venus.

If you don't have a smart phone, then I highly recommend you use a free program called Stellarium.
Click HERE to go to Stellarium website to download for free

I don't mean this to be insulting or to belittle you. It happens. You're actually in the majority if you don't know what's what in the sky. More people DON'T know what's in the sky than those that do. Dems dat way.

enjoy.

Okay...I'm game! I am in Rhode Island also. Could you please provide some basics like:
1. How big is this light? (how much of the sky is illuminated?)
2. I'm a Rhode Islander so I will know some location specific clues that others won't. Protect your privacy; but maybe a hint about where in RI you might be? South County, Greater Providence area, Northern RI (Cumberland, N. Smithfield???
3. Exact time?...(so I can look too). The whole state can be traveled North to South in a little over an hour and East to West in the same amount of time. It's not a big chunk of sky we're talking about here.

Okay...I maybe a bit skeptical but I would love for you to prove me wrong.

Peace Rhodie

I guess you are in luck as I am in providence myself. I was going to post the same questions as our neighbor above posted.

Rhode Island is home to one of the more famous video captures back in 68? That was on 8mm though. The cigar shaped craft in Woonsocket. I also know youtube seems to have a number of postings from around Rhode Island as well..
Wasnt someone from Mass. just asking about lights as well on some post around here lately?

Anyway, nice to know I have some ats neighbors

eta: thought I might as well post the video too!

If I recall correctly, it turned out to be Venus, as I suspect may very well be the case this time.

Venus, or Jupiter.

Please see my post above this one.

Cool vid by the way. Very interesting.

OneHuman, I was aware of the 1968 incident, but didn't realize there was actual footage of it. Thanks!

Again as i posted im not claiming it to be anything. As i said it very well could be a star. Its def not a planet though its not bright its doesnt illuminate the sky... it just seems to be rapidly flashing more than a normal star. Believe me im not excited, i was simply posting to see if anyone else has noticed in RI or could shed light... no pun intended. . Maybe I should have been more cautious of the title i chose. I live in on the woonsocket north smithfield line. Again.. it not huge, its not bright, its the way it "twinkles" i guess. Im guessing its more of a star, as i mentioned before most likely just comprimised by particles in the atmosphere. Yesterday though it seemed to be furhter away so.... but thanks for the replies.. im sure it can be explained.

I live near the beed barn.. also its not bigger than any other star... its not brilliant in light.. It just "twinkles" alot more.. so I dunno. Its not something that anyone would probaly notice. I just always scan the sky on my street since woonsocket is cheap and wont turn on the street lights lol.

Jupiter is setting the opposite side to the moon right now and is nice and bright.

Going by your description, my money is on our Jovian neighbor.

As suggested get a hold of stellarium and you'll be able to work it out yourself.
