Okay, but HOW are they being deep throated. How is Ellen being gay, affecting them?? If Ellen wasn't gay would they still want her out??

If it was a simply about Ellen I'd understand but I think there's a whole lot more involved than simply Ellen or "for being GAY"

I think they are a hate group because...

This is what I'm trying to say here.
I can respect your opinion because you are being honest with the ..."I think" opinion.
You aren't claiming to give facts like I've grown accustomed to since becoming a member of ats.

Do these "moms" have a right to protest? Yes, they do, just like the KKK has a right to have a peaceful rally. Do people like Annee and me have a right to say they are hateful bigots? Yes, we do.

I agree with you 100%, except for Annee has "zero tolerance" and her agenda differs greatly from ours.

I am still unclear to what you are referring to, and what your message is. What is it again that you were trying to say, try using more than one sentence.

It's probably because people feel like they've had enough of it pushed onto their children and their selves far too quickly and harshly. Maybe they fear the advertisement going too far.... just as they feel the gay movement has gone.

If you're going to force something down the throat of others, and expect them to accept it, then it should be done a little more gently... maybe.

Every group has their extremists and that doesn't exempt the "gay" group either.
Maybe the moms think this is just a beginning of a push they'd prefer not to have to have.

There's two sides to every story and then there's the truth.
All I'm saying is that I truly don't think Ellen "being GAY" is simply the reason they rallied.

YES - ABSOLUTELY!

I have ZERO tolerance for Discrimination and fighting against Equal Rights of a Minority Group (that harms no one).

The FACT that the majority of those fighting against Equal Rights of Gays are Christian - - is not my problem.

They ARE Christian. As the courts said in declaring Prop 8 unconstitutional - - they had no legitimate argument.

A God Belief is not a legitimate argument to deny anyone their Equal Rights.

Could you show me this please. The "it" and the false information please?

Omg, you're kidding.... SPL?

I gave you the link. Too afraid to read it?

Yeah - - oh so funny - - lets all laugh at the Southern Poverty Law Center. They couldn't possibly have any real credibility.

Its pathetic when people show their own stupidity and prejudice.

Nothing is being forced, here is where your argument falls apart. There not being forced to do anything, you don't like the ads, then don't listen to them, don't watch tv, don't shop at JcPenney. This doesn't mean they can't rally for it, it just means that they are doing all of this for the SOLE PURPOSE of eliminating gays from society. Why do they want to do this? I can't really say for sure, but it is my inference is that they're doing it for hate, unless I can find some other reason, but there is none. Your argument works if they were actually being forced to do anything.

What if I got a bunch of people to say "Impeach Obama because he is black", and could come up with no other reason as to why to impeach him, I would consider this a hate group, because they are rallying based on their hate, it is that simple, to say this is right or wrong would be an opinion.

I suppose if some Right Wing Christian lawyer group made a list - - - that would be credible.

But - because its the Southern Poverty Law Center - - - its just a great big joke.

"JC Penney is Now Insulting Its Customers"

Yep, they sure as hell insulted me with that horrid screaming commercial I've never shopped at Penneys a lot, but I'll guarantee you, I will never shop there again! And it doesn't have a thing to do with Ellen. It has everything to do with that horrible, screaming commercial I was confronted with every time I turned on the TV.

I like Ellen. She's cracks me up. One of the few celebrities that doesn't take herself too seriously.

I gave a link to counter the biased link you presented. They are of an opinion.

You've repeatedly said they harm no one. Youre wrong and this also shows your narrow minded prejudices. I can not make that kind of a statement about any group.

Your pro government support is very telling too (since it fits your biased pet project).
If you were an advocate for equal justice, you'd address both sides of the argument but instead you prefer to continue to twist the subject and your bigotry so you can continue to play on emotions ... just like the narrow minded title.

You are no advocate for equal rights but you are one hell of a good hypocrite.

Since you lack the capacity to look further than your nose at this subject, you'll never truly represent the gay community in a respectful way.

Replace Gay with Black in the title, would that be considered a hate group?

You want me to insert race into this. This is about the rights of everyone and not just what she deems superior.
If I were to say someone is a hate group, I'd, at least, show proof, footage or direct articles.

This is about allowing peaceful protests to happen even if it's a difference of opinion.

If the thread said " One million moms rally at Jcpenny's to fire the CEO, for being black. No one would argue that they are a hate group. But switch that to gay, and suddenly people are ready to backfire. People are afraid of race, and won't say things about it, but will when it comes down to sexual orientation because we see it as a choice rather than something we can't change. I think going from gay to straight, would be as hard for someone to go from straight to gay. Do we choose to be straight? I don't think so, and its the same for being gay.

Its okay to call people who dislike something purley on race, a hate group, a rascist group, but suddenly this changes if you dislike someone purely on sexual orientation?? If you can tell me how that isn't a double standard I would be amazed, and just goes to show you how rascist, sexist, and whatever ist's we are.

this is how dumb that line of reasoning is.
Instead of replacing gay with black, which is wrong.
It is about sexual preference so try replacing gay with pedophiles instead.

See how dumb this line of reasoning is?

I agree. It would be different if they were forced to watch the show in school, or forced to shop at JcPenny's but this simply isn't the case. What purpose does firing Ellen do for this group, other than satisfy the power they have over people who are different. This is the definition of a hate group, and if you can't call this group a hate group then you couldn't call any group a hate group.

My question to those who think this group is not a hate group, give me some examples of hate groups and I'll use the same reasoning you use to show how they aren't.

ok, good luck with this one.
And I WILL use your quotes in the future.
I HATE pedophiles.

your turn.

What I was trying to say is that maybe the Million Moms rally happened because a slew of changes that's happened lately that they feel is an intrusion onto their children and parenting rights.
One step has led to another and another. This has become so sensitive that it's no wonder they're taking a stand. I have to say, I truly don't think it's a "hate someone for being gay" problem here.
It's larger than that.
The spin, imo, is to paint it as hating gays.
The problem is that many parents do not want the education to influence their children on sexuality and so on.
The fear might be... what's their next step?
Please compare race with race subjects and sexual topics with sexual topics. I don't see anywhere in the OP where race comes in this.

jcpenney CEO on Ellen DeGeneres controversy

On "CBS This Morning," Thursday, jcpenney chief executive officer Ron Johnson, said the company "shares the same values" as DeGeneres and that the decision to have her as a spokesperson was a "no-brainer."

"We don't look at it like a controversy. One of the great things about America is people can speak their mind. And you know, the organization that believes one thing has spoken and it was great to see Ellen share her views yesterday. And we stand squarely behind Ellen as our spokesperson and that's a great thing. Because she shares the same values that we do in our company. Our company was founded 110 years ago on The Golden Rule, which is about treating people fair and square, just like you would like to be treated yourself. And we think Ellen represents the values of our company and the values that we share." www.cbsnews.com...
