Of course the world would united to free the plant from alien rule. The only problem would be the language barrier for example if an aussie and a russian tried to Coordinate an attack on the aliens and nither of them spoke the others language. The real trouble would start after the earth had been freed there would be a global civil war to figure out who will govern what part of the earth.

it's funny to see how some people are so sure a bunch of americans with pistols and bombs can win against advanced aliens by using guerrilla warfare

what if they have shields that protect them from weapons?

and If they wanted to destroy the planet and everyone on it they could just send a few antimatter bombs from their ships and we wouldn't even see it coming...

and If I was an alien commander, and I had to invade a planet I would send in an army of robots, that way aliens never get killed and with robots you have nothing to lose

the thing,is as long as we are incapable of defending ourselves against ships that can operate from space we are vulnerable to any attack.they would'nt even need to come close to wipe us out

That's true that you can't Use guns, bombs and army for everything. Like I said many times....don't say i'm crazy now....they are here already working with governments, and that's how they will enslave us if we keep on denying their presence! Bases in Dulce, Salt Lake and many more cities in the world...there are already here!
Research on this, then tell me about it...Is it a very bad theorie????

In the admittedly rather unlikely eventuality that Earth should be invaded by a hostile extraterrestrial force, do you beleive that our species would have the capacity to set aside our petty internicine wars to defend against this common enemy?

It's entirely likely that one nation or another might "sell out" in terms of military force, eschewing action against the enemy so that they themselves might be spared. Others might even take advantage of the situation to launch an assault against another Earth nation.

However, we humans are a tenacious bunch... even though our technology is probably a good bit behind that possessed by anyone capable of traveling interstellar distances to reach our world, I'm sure that if they bleed, we'd kill some of them, at least.

So how would we, as a planet and as individuals, react to an overt, hostile (e.g. Hollywood-style) invasion that could, theoretically, be deterred?

1) There is no need for someone invade the primitive earth and it's inhabitants;
2) If the earth was needed to ET's, the takover would take place thousands years ago;
3) There is probably nothing that ET's want from such a race as humans, we have nothing that would cause an interest to them. And that's a fact, they maybe cannibals though.

4) United earth resistance, it's a dream, if something likely is going to happen, we will just full our pants and run around in circles, and i seriously doubt that the war is going to be long, 5 mins, probably. *Woosh* *BOOM* Human race is extinct.

is there not? so I assume you know the aliens and what they want/need

and what if they hadn't discovered the planet then?
you are just speculating here

a fact from your imagination?

IMHO, any alien starfaring race with malevolent intentions would grab a bunch of us to do scientific research, then design a virus that would selectively kill all of the humans on the planet. Why actually attack with weapons, put themselves at risk and destroy the real estate? Just seed the virus on every continent and wait for the maggots to clean up the mess.
BTW, if that avatar pic of Amelia is really her, then I just want to say that "YOU ARE HOT!!!"

Perhaps it's called Aids, or the Flu, or BCG, or MRSA, or all of them.

there have been several dif theories with regards to aliens. One did say we struck a deal with them as Amelia implies. But some reports say that we have also had conflict with them, and one article said they did try to take over the usa using their own aagents (implanted humans) but were strongly resisted by the us military.

Maybe they need us alive, some spiritual reason? Like monsters inc type of thing where they feed off our fear and hatred etd. Like in matrix, we are a battery for them!

Its a good thought. But that is all it amounts to. Its akin to saying that all the countries in the middle east put down their weapons and have a group hug. We as a people may be able to put our differences aside in the short haul, but in the long run its going to return to normal. Suppose we do win and we know possess the knowledge, weapons and ability that these aliens had who do you suppose is going to have the lions share of the wealth? It is probaly going to be the two biggest countries ie the us and russia. Do you think the other countries are going to stand for this? Not at all. There going to see it as another attempt by the US to dominate the world and then wars will start and we will be back in the same situation we are currently in. Also one thing that has not been mentioned in this thread is the calamity this would have would have on a religiouse stand point. This would pretty much destroy all religiouse ideology. And how do you expect to get people to fight for one cause when their all their believes have just been proven wrong? The only thing that will result is mass chaos.

Ah...fear of the unknown. Tiz what plagues the human race to this day.

According to Arthur M. Young:

"Put yourself in the position of a primitive savage only 500 years ago, say a Fiji Islander, or a native of South America, or even an American Indian. You live in the forest seeking out a bare existence trapping animals or raising corn. You are surrounded by the ocean, dense forests, high mountains, or whatever, and know nothing about the whole earth, only about the small portion of its surface that you inhabit. Beyond a few days' journey is the unknown. You have your priests and wise men who tell you of gods, and how the world was created. You worship your ancestors and make sacrifices to them. You are not dumb, but your direct first-hand information is limited -- yet you do what you do with great skill you can make arrowheads, you start a fire by rubbing sticks.
Then comes to your shore a fleet of ships so large that you do not recognize them as ships. You do see 'canoes' separating from them and see the canoes disgorge men in metal garments. What is your state of mind? How do you explain these beings? Of course this case is different from what happens when saucers make a contact with earth, but the first impact of such visitation may have been similar -- the sudden invasion of one reality by another. I am speaking not of invasion in the sense of military conquest, but of the shattering intersection of one reality by another, and of the problem which this creates for explanation, especially for the party invaded. For the invading party expects to find something different than what is customary; that's what it's doing, exploring. But the invaded suddenly has his closed world broken into by the unknown.
This is probably more severe for modern man than it was for primitive man, because the latter was accustomed to being in a world surrounded by the unknown. Our current world is not only physically conquered in the sense that it is paved with roads and parking lots; it is spiritually conquered by science and expertise to such an extent that our intelligentsia especially are almost totally cut off from any necessity of acquaintance with the unknown -- the unknown, that is, in the immediate and threatening sense of powers superior to ourselves. To be sure modern man plays at the unknown -- speculates about distant galaxies, about quarks and antimatter, but such is all on paper: it doesn't touch at a vulnerable spot, it doesn't have flesh and blood" Fear of the Unknown by Arthur M. Young (1983)

Well folks it's time to get our act together the aliens are here as in greys and others. But it will take a situation maybe like L Ron Hubbards classic" Battlefield Earth " to get people to realize it. Humans have to be confronted with things some times just look around do world events seem a little strained part of this is due to external influences. Well thats my take on it.

Why would they need to fire anything. Since the would be a higher lifeform than us humans. all the need to do is control governments to start wars and make the human cilivlisation implode on itself. If they can travel vast distances in space they will have technology that can control minds. Anyway thats what i think

Hi you guys...listen, my avatar is ALWAYS Monica Bellucci because I look like her a LOT! Monica and me, we are like twins hehehe, she represent me all the time! You guys have to know that a woman can be beautiful and sexy AND have a strong opinion on ''the real life'' be intelligent and clever!!! Challenge me anytime

Concerning aliens....The aliens that are working with governments (not ONLY U.S) are a kind of aliens of the dark force, not all aliens are bad. The good aliens wants to help, but the governments sent them back. Bad aliens that are in undergroud bases, want to make Humans dark too. They are against god and enlightment. They want to control the world in a bad way. Also, the greys want our ADN, because their specie is dying. They have to find a new way of reproducing...
Hahaha do I sound crazy or WHAT!!!!

Remember guys that we don't know a thing about what's goin on on earth. We have to make a lot of researches and keep the faith in ''love'' and ''light'' and spirituality to guide us in life. We are so innocent, we are light dust in the wind in the universe

just enjoy it

I dont think we would be able to ban together. There is too much gain for some country to kill the other while their backs are turned. All of our countries are intertwined together by a very very thin thread right now, we all want something different and only tollerate what the others think and want as a way to keep the peace. We'd lose because humans are resistant of each other by nature, we'd never ban together, not even to save our planet.

We all know that there are bad beings and good beings. We always look at them in a bad way why not in a good way. Either group so to say could take over Earth if they wanted what we have for weapons are like toys to them. If they wanted they could shut down EVERY silo on Earth. IF THEY WANTED TO TAKE US OVER THEY COULD HAVE DONE SO LONG AGO.
Did it ever occur to you that maybe there are beings that are waiting to show themselves and to help us heal Earth of pollution of our air, water, soil. Peace has to come to Earth. Time is coming soon so I would say wake up and see the light.

This is a fun thread.

Alright, first let's determine how advanced the aliens are: Interstellar travel, space-warp technology, mind control, bioenergy weapons, stealth nano-weapons, zero-point energy, cloaking, time-travel, teleportation, advanced genetics

Next, let's determine their hostile intentions: Eradication, Enslavement, Evil, Earth Destruction

Eradication of human life: Red button tactics
1. Infect humanity with a fast-acting virus
2. Teleport all humanity out into the space(or the sun)
3. Unleash a bio-energtic death ray that destroys all of humanity
4.A stealth nanoweapon, gracefully lands on earth, then assembles a whole army of robots, composed of shape memory alloys, that wreak havoc on humanity.

Earth Destruction: More Red button tactics
1. A Zero Point Energy weapon dropped from the heavens - obliterated into vapour

Evil
1. A bioenergy beam, that sucks the bioenergy of every human being, turning everyone into mindless lunatics that destroy each other and everything on the planet.
2. Using mind control to play everyone against each other, televised to the home planet on pay-per-view

Enslavement
1. Secretly infilitrate every section and department of society, government and religion, keep everyone in the dark, breed ignorance and hatred, erode away the human mind, as to render it it impotent, shatter their souls with endless war and crime. Reduce to them sheep. A slave race at the disposal of the ET gods. This is the most likely scenorio of an ET invasion.

whats with the weapons
u dont always need guns to fight
THE MIND IS THE MOST POWERFUL WEAPON OF ALL!!!

For those of you that most likely chuckled at Abyss's post don't be so quick to dismiss the thought. It is true the mind is the most powerful weapon humans have. The potential of our brains is enormous and was most likely the reason previous anchient civilizations were wiped out. They fought with their minds yet they did not have all the technology to back them up. In this day we have such wonderful technology, yet we have lost the control and power of our minds. Regain that power, with the backup of our technology and development and we will win the battle that is already taking place.

Think outside the box

Lets hope the mind isnt the most powerful weapon, since space travel would entail some wicked intellect ^ ^

Seriously though I think we would be owned. The only chance we would have is if we united before the invasion and not in the midst of the chaos. Then again you could always hide out near the water...I hear they don't like water...

Also consider that most of the alien force that would be part of the invasion would most likely be their warrior/soldier equivalents. So hope they don't send one alien for one human
Yes i'm suggestion you learn Kung Fu.
