It's 7am and it's already almost 30c. today we're expecting 42c. this is the 4th day in a row, or 5th.. I stopped counting. of over 40c temps.

What the hell did we do down here to warrant this unending torment? It's literally 2 steps away from hades. And we have no air conditioning, only about 600 fans all blowing wind in ever direction which only makes your sweat wiggle on your forehead.

Ahh but they say it will be late 30's tomorrow, oh and then they say back to the 40's next week.

I've about done my noggin in. This is borderline insanity heat. And the strange and scary thing is, 2 nights ago there was a huge thunder storm AGAIN with mad lightening everywhere... which promptly turned all the droplets of rain into humidity.

Can someone send me a bag of snow, so I can drown myself in the boiling water it will be by time it arrives?!

What the hell - all the eastern staters in Australia are flooding again, rain and cooler temps, yet .. we're basically being deep fried in out own sebaceous glands...

Deep fried madness... whod live in western australia

A couple of my gamer friends from aus have been complaining about the heat too.
Is it abnormally hot for you all this year or have you had air conditioning in the past?

Welcome to the central midwest USA in August!!
Sorry.....take naps....drink lots of fluids, and know that autumn and winter are coming...(while we prepare for another dreadful and oppressive summer).

Usually just before xmas/new years we get really hot, but it then starts to cool - this year, it's just been mad. really weird, never had air conditioning, usually just stick it out, so this year, so many days in a row of over 40c is new.

I mean, 4-5 days in a row, thats bizarre.

and more to come, you know it's bad when they keep telling people on news reports, that the elderly and young should keep well hydrated and cool.

I helped an old lady the other month, who'd fallen in her garden and behind her fence, by sheer luck I saw her and called an ambulance. That was about a 35c day and I got madly sunburnt with her waiting for the ambulance, so this 42c stuff is insanity... god help anyone who's caught in it, in direct sunlight.

not to mention everything is constantly wet !!! and you cant even go outside because god has a magnyfying glass on us.. :/

Naps.. that about sums up my entire sleep pattern in this weather. lol

I have about 4 frozen bottles of water in the freezer, and as soon as I take on out, within half an hour it's unfrozen. Weeehoo... can't wait for midday to roll around, I shall call this EXTREME SITTING DOWN!!!

lol

You should buy a lot of bags of ice and fill your bath tub with it - then move your computer in there.

Your family might think you're crazy but at least you'll be cool.

Yeah, I hear ya!!
Once I was listening to a silly early-morning radio show that asked: What modern convenience do you think is the most important to have been discovered/made available....
lots of people said "microwaves", 'bread slicers', 'telephones', but in my mind was:
AIR CONDITIONING. I don't know why or how people decided to settle here in the first place (makes one wonder if the women in the covered wagons, after miles and miles and miles and babies dying and general discomfort, said, even though the place was arid and hot and dry and insanely inhospitable:....THAT'S IT! I'm not going ANY FARTHER!);

but yeah, artificial climate control is the number one.

There could be a method to your madness!! But moving the computer, sounds like hard work.. lol

God forbid I turn it off and go sit in the tub however, thats.. some sort of insanity!!

But you know, I have considered digging a hole in the backyard, putting a large bag in it, and filling it with water to sit in. Us with no pools or access to one, have crazy thoughts at times.

god that actually sounds plausible atm, for a 42c day. lmao, Or I can just pretend to go shopping, they have nice cool air cons there.

Cheers you got me thinking!! lol

I truly feel for you and especially if you got doggies too!
I have the heater on here in Kalifornia USA.
63 degrees here....17 by your measurement.
Just a bit too cool to be comfortable but I HATE hot weather much worse than freezing.
Get a small window air conditioner and get to a small room, crank it up and lock yourself in if you can!
If not, fill the tub and soak, do not drain it, just use it like a pool.
My heart goes out to you though as I do hate the heat.

(Edit)
I do not know why I didn't think of this but if you have an indoor mall close by, go window shopping!

Hahaha, true. I think people settled here because it can be rather nice at some time, and by time you'be built a city, you can't go "aww crikey, bloody hot now!" and pack it all up.

All I know of a real airconditioner, is the next door neighbours who have one positioned right next to my window. As when they get a little bit warm at 2am, I get the full brunt of the BARZANNNNNNGGGGGGGGG as it kicks in and rumbles my walls..

Best I can do is hit the backyard with a hose and water the house, hoping it converts some of that blistering heat to steam.

The evaporative air con we have, tends to just distill the water and make human soup out of us lol..

Ahh I'm still thinking about digging a hole and making a bogan pool out the back lol, I know the old couple over the back fence play the radio all day long, so I could settle for classic 80's and 90's hit's while encasing myself in just enough cool water to close my eyes and pretend..

Haha like minds you see, already considered the shops! A little bit of browsing here and there, and its really nice in the mall here. Apart from the people. But I'm sure I could handle that!

We had a pooch... sadly had to have to put down but she'd have been suffering in this to be sure. miss that silly woofy.

It's just so strange to be so hot for so long at this time of year here. And I've been saying for years that it used to rain a heck of a lot more. Raining less, heat waves more. But at the same time, floods over east again.

We're certainly in a world gone topsy turvy, I think I'll be looking at the bath in a few hours, still hasn't hit 30c yet, still just under but it's not even 8am yet.

Lol I cant even take advantage of the sun and get a bit of a tan, this stinking heat would bake me before I even sat down!

He hee!! That must be a window unit, right?? Or not....
but yeah, Central Air Conditioning.....condenser outside the house; thermostat inside; it gets above the mark set on the thermostat, and it kicks on and spews out COLD AIR!!!

Just so you feel better.....as I was typing this, my Central Heat just kicked on....
So, now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to light a fire in my hearth!

Come visit if you want a break from the heat!!

Last winter (a bit over a year ago) our old pooch went out into a freezing rainstorm and just laid down, right there, with her nose to the incoming freeze, and acted like she was not going to get up.....I encouraged her to come in, and that night she went to sleep and didn't wake up.
I'm sorry about your pooch...

Nearly 12 years ago now, I was in England, staying at a charming bed and breakfast, and the owners had us for private breakfast and a chat....
they asked what the weather was like where I live.
I said, "Well, in the winter it get's so cold that people die. And, in the summer, it gets so hot that people die."

And I was not exaggerating....they (and we) of course, chuckled, but yeah.

PLUS, we don't get to have windows without bug-screens, like they do there, or in Norway or other more hospitable climes......
we are plagued by flies, mosquitoes, gnats,.....and so on and so forth.

But hey, nice to meet you!! Hang in there, it will pass!!

We used to have a proper air con in the place my dad used to live, oooohhh I had that beast on cold so much I never thought of it when the condensation would drip onto my old 15" crt. lol.. woops.

Come visit? I'm on my way!!
I just sat out the back yard for about half an hour, thinking I was in the shade with a slight breeze... Now I feel the sing of a burn on my legs.. lol.. it's overcast here, but still that insipid sun know where to get me...

Thats so sad.. like our girl, she just lay out the back in the rain, under the pine tree, and would look at us as if we had come to play, but her body was done.. I'll never forget carrying her into the vet, and she was that weak, they couldn't find her vein to say goodbye.. they had to shave her, and she knew it.. I had to leave, I was so distraught. She was like my little girl... I'll never forget that. Horrible.. I still, to this day say "Hey kimba, hey girl" as I walk in the door, as she used to dance around like a freak just to see us.. haha.. ahh.

I would hope shes still here in spirit as long as I do that.

It's insane, sounds so much like here on average, when we get hot we get hot, and when we get cold we know about it. Elderly people have died in our heat. We dont get snow or ice or anything, but we do get periods where we have 0-3c mornings. Nothing extreme in that way, this is just so out of the ordinary. This heat, and then a thunder storm, and then heat and no letting up.

it's 40c now, and it's just gone 1pm. I feel like I've just stepped out of a shower lol.

Hey, it's really nice to meet you too, and thank you for your words!!
Never expect a rant to become a conversation!
*shakes fist at the sun, thanks sun for meeting good people*

Ahahah, my old man and mum were from the UK.

I think thats why I hate the heat.. But I can tell you, there is a good heat and then there is this. This, in the shade, when the wind burns you.. not good

Give me a pleasant rainy day, with the wind and the fresh wonderful air, and the smell of the earth, anyday!

This is Australia!! I should be used to it damn it!! lol.. no this is really out of the ordinary for us here. We know our heat, but.. wow.

it's not just here that is feeling the difference in how the weather is ? ! I know for years I've seen less and less of the good rainy - and I mean torrential type - rain.. and an ever increasing heat wave, each year.

I dunno, it's most likely the earth telling us to settle down, or it could be that it happens all the time every whatever hundred years, but.. this really is beyond a joke. I used to find myself on a 40c day sitting under a tree and thinking "Man this is a hot day. Whew the wind is bighting my face off!" Once in a blue moon.

Now it's becoming the norm, the last few months, and I'm not opposed to it, I just dont expect this. my old mum is in her 70's and we have no air con. kinda scary when shes sitting in the dark laying down with fans blowing everywhere and doesnt move for hours....

:/

lol, and before I know it, I'll be posting about the damn cold and rain.. what ever happened to normal weather?

PS: can you send the snow in a insulated bag??
If you find some more that is
