As far as taxes go. I only make six hundred dollars a year and I pay one hundred of that back in taxes. No I do not get a refund. So I pay more of my meager income in taxes than Mitt Romney, multi-millionaire does. I challenge him and other millionaires to pay the same tax rate that I do.

So you are ok with the rise in your own taxes while the rich pay zero payroll taxes and can skate through life paying 13.9%?

Or the socialized money that funds schools.

Roads.

The military...

I have no idea how much money you make. Nor am I asking. But I make roughly 60k a year. I see every penny of tax as a penny that may help someone less fortunate than I. Last week I purchased the parts to build my new computer. $1,000 in the end. Paid my rent. Maintenance on my car. Took the girlfriend out and made her smile.

You know how much time I spend angry at the government due to my deductions? Zero. The money taken from my check is minor. I use zero loop holes. I don't sit at home alone fuming that someone with less than I is receiving assistance. Actually I'm rather offended that you have that avatar picture up. If you are a soldier or you are an individual that is patriotic and thankful to the men and women risking their lives regardless if the war or engagement is just. If you are patriotic and you "love" this country. The last thing you should do is make a huge deal about the taxes you pay. During the golden 50s people were proud to pay taxes. It was their American responsibility and they prospered heavily.

No one takes from me. I am happy it helps. You know what I do after that? I donate and physically assist those that I know are doing poorly.

When everyone on this thread is old enough to be called an old #. They will wish there were a few safety nets available.
edit on 30-1-2012 by GeekCream because: Spelling and grammatical.

So you are ok with working hard, and being successful enough to make 60k a year, and then having the Govt reach in to your paycheck, steal money, take a huge chunk, waste it on God knows what and then hand out a fraction of it to others?

Ok then. Good for you, I guess.

I, don't.
I work hard for every cent I make and I am tired of it being taken.
My family could use that money stolen from my paycheck every month.

We could sit down together like civil men and agree and disagree on a list methods in which the government is using my taxes. But regardless. I know that a family is able to eat. A child is able to get medical assistance. A road will get patched. My water will be clean. The children in my are will have a public school to go to.

We can agree on many things I'm sure if we were civil. But we cannot have that conversation if you feel that due to the negative expenses that we should stop taxing anyone for anything.

I just cant support a world view like yours.

Never said NO taxes.
I stated I am taxed more then what is needed.
And taxes should not be going directly to other citizens.
Taxes for Roads, Bridges, Schools and Military is fine.

And using the whole "For the Children" argument?? Really?
Now that is just too funny.

I believe I saw a story about social security. The money we're paying now goes to those who are getting social security benefits NOW. They had a nifty little chart that showed how many taxpayers ss contribution it takes for one individual to recieve benefits. It used to be two but now it's around four or five. And don't forget the number of baby boomers in the system.

I have a friend who is recieving SSD. She's ben out of work for 2 years due to a bus accident. She wants to work but her doctors repeatedly refuse her request. Maybe THAT is part of the problem too...

The number of people on Social Security disability has steadily climbed since the 1970s, thanks mainly to easier eligibility rules

I about fell out of my seat when I saw that BS. A younger person, under 55 gets disabled and the Social Security will intentionally decline benefits for TWO years before a court forces them to pay up.

What is that person supposed to do for those TWO years? Lose everything they have and go live in a cardboard box and maybe die so the state gets to keep their money that they put in?

Social Security has only got worse over the years and the government does not want you to have your own money. SS is ridiculous and if its not fixed soon they might as well shut down the government because pissed off people are going to come for their money.

I am a disabled vet. I never applied for social security but they were quick to send me an official letter stating I wasn't eligible for benefits. The reason they gave for denying me, drum roll please...I told them I did not want to file a claim for SSI. WTF?? They never asked me, nor did I ask them. I just thought it was funny...

Just curious if you are a US citizen and if you have or ever will vote.
I have an interesting story about where those people get their paychecks from.

Where are you trying to go with this?
I just don't blindly fall into traps.
Please explain as to what you state.

Exactly where I went. I asked a question for which the point of was to get an answer.
I asked if you were American and ever voted in order to...
find out if you are American or have ever voted.

I thought it was pretty straight forward.

I just don't blindly fall into traps.

So the only time you ever get trapped is when you see them first, then get caught in them? Odd thing to brag about but when you see my question as a potential trap that says more about you than me. It is just a question. What exactly are people afraid I can do to them here with my questions?

Please explain as to what you state.

I am not sure I can make it any more simple.

ARE YOU AN AMERICAN.
HAVE YOU EVER VOTED.

Does bigger help?

Nope, because you have yet to explain why you are asking the question.

Damn you are a scared, precious little thing aren't you?
I asked a very simple question. Either you can answer it or you are mentally incapable of doing so. I cannot tell which. You keep looking for an explanation or alterior motive if you like but the reality is that I simply asked a question.

Man up and just say you are too afraid of a simple question to answer it instead of trying to pretend I need to justify my simple question. There is nothing to justify.

What the hell are you so paranoid about? I answer questions all the time.

Do you not know the answers? Do you not know you nationality or voting history?

America. The land of the free...... Handouts
Look at the money that Bush gave away in an effort to keep people off his back. Now we have a President that again has fallen into the same trap.
In the real world, if we use our credit cards because we are living beyond our means, we have to pay the money back with a hefty interest. The money that has been given away can never and can not be replayed by the majority of benefactors for many it is their life line. Could we not bring many of these people back into the american dream by participating in voluntary work projects, that would in tern benefit the whole community.
People helping people to sort out a million community problems, even a few hours a week will make a significant difference. There are few things in life that makes a person feel good than being able to say."I did that". Mr President go to the people ask the people for their opinions. See if the people would like to participate in a national community project. For many this will improve their self esteem and help combat their negativity.

That's why we need to wean the country off the entitlements just as slowly as the socialists made us dependent on them... Call it Cloward/Piven in reverse. The problem is, it makes for a very unpopular issue at campaign time, and if we go broke in the meantime, it will happen anyway. Either way, some sort of collapse is and will occur.
edit on 27-1-2012 by ThirdEyeofHorus because: (no reason given)

Why don't they fix the economy and they wont have all these people asking for help. Did you ever think of that?

Asking that would require the 'i don't care if your granny dies' crowd to actually be honest about the situation. Good luck with all of that!

Right and that simple challenge was to you. I did not realize you would have such a tough time answering a simple question.

Why does it matter?

I am not sure. I asked you a question and you have responded 3 times now demanding I explain something to you first that does not exist to be explained.

This is a VERY SIMPLE CONCEPT.

I ask you a question.
Your response is either to answer it or to not have an answer.
I have not idea what the matter is with you that you cannot do that.

So much for civilized discussion. Thanks for acting like a child over a question.

The government tells you "pay in all your quarters and you will get full social security"...this is all I heard in the 1970's when I began work at the age of 17 while still in high school. I worked for years and paid in all my quarters. Well well well...after I paid in all my quarters I lost my job in a factory. I looked for work and found a secretarial position at our local community college.
The liars now say that since I work in education they will take a big portion (to me any portion is BIG) of my social security when I get to retirement age as I am going to be "raking in the big dough" with my paltry teacher retirement. No I don't rake in the big bucks of a teacher so i need every penny I can get when I retire. Secretaries make the lowest of the low at a college.
So now I am having taken away my full social security, what I was told was rightfully mine if I paid in all my quarters. It sucks.

I will answer a direct question, when I want to answer it.
I would like to know why it is relevant.
It appears that you have no justification for the question, so I shall move on.
