So are you both saying that we've gone past the point of no return?

We are now a socialist state?

No turning back?

?????

the us has been practicing fabian socialism for quite awhile

and as the uncreated pointed out will require radical reforms
and a complete paradigm shift
[most probably at the individual level]

a good start would be general tax strike will put the brakes on the truly entitled ones in washington

Where does the State draw its support and funding from to pay for our own enslavement, to
prepare for our inevitable rebellion? Funding and support comes from you. From me. From anyone
who voluntarily supports Leviathan. You are conditioned to think that death and taxes are certain,
but, while you can't escape death, taxes are indeed voluntary and the State is powerless to enforce
their illegal theft so long as enough people refuse to cooperate with it.
During the Great Depression there was such a tax revolt. Not everyone participated in it but it was
sufficient enough in numbers that the government was powerless to do anything about it. They
could only hire people to go door to door begging – begging – people to pay their taxes. What a
glorious example of the real power we, the People, have over even such a grotesque, power-bloated
government. They begged them to pay their taxes. They didn't SWAT team their houses, shoot
their dog, and throw them in jail. They begged them to allow the State to rob them. Let that sink in.

Oh really, Mister President?

I read this in the paper this morning. He's a more comprehensive version:

"I second-guess myself constantly ... I make a mistake, you know, every hour, every day," the Democrat seeking re-election in November said with a laugh in an ABC News interview.

"There are always things that you're learning in the job. And I have no doubt that I'm a better president now than the day I took office just because you get more experience," he said.

uk.reuters.com...

Pretty smart actually. He portrays himself like an every day Joe. Remember when Carter was running and he said that he had "sinned in his heart"? Nice set up for the second paragraph. He's selling his experience without saying the other candidates have none.

Did the economy suddenly fix itself when Obama came into office?

What you are looking at is the residual rise in welfare/food stamps due to the recession - which really bordered on depression - of 2008. It will take years before those numbers go back down. Let's not forget the obstructionist congress which has blocked every recovery effort, ensuring this recession lasts. Remember the GOP's motto, "Damn the country, Obama must fail".

I can ensure you the solution to the economy is NOT going to come from the establishment GOP, and only a FOOL of the highest order would ever consider putting them back into office. The GOP at this point has only one saving grace and that is Ron Paul, and they treat him like dirt.

In part, you are correct. Thanks for the graphs. They show a decrease in public employee due to Obama's policies! Local and state level governments have lost so much "revenue" that they've had to let employees go.

Obama saves money towards failed green enery companies (Solendra et al) insted of teachers, cops, fire fighters, etc.

it hasn't been what it claims to be since before you or i were born, beez
1st we have to figure out what it was meant to be,
and if that is in anyway related to what it claims to be.

I agree that it is an ass backwards policy. In a time when start ups are having a extremely hard time finding start up capital investment, the government is guaranteeing and giving loans away to failing businesses.

Most business knows years ahead of time if they are heading into bankruptcy, so either these green energy companies committed fraud by presenting false numbers to the feds, or the administrators of these loans and guarantees are extremely negligent.

Look, as much as I disagree with most of his policies, even Mitt Romney will admit that every business venture will not end in success. Just because Solendra has failed doesn't mean that there is no future in "green energy," but quite to the contrary. Green energy is the future and anyone who refuses to admit that is just sticking their heads into the sand.

Regarding the reduction in the number of government employees; I swear, no matter what President Obama does, he never seems to be able to please his opposition. I thought you people wanted smaller government, am I wrong?

Sooner or later, his opposition is going to have to stand for something, because just hating him alone is not going to get anything accomplished.

Is President Obama Creating A Nation Of Dependents?

Direct payments. The amount of money the federal government hands out in direct payments to individuals steadily increased over the past four decades, but shot up under Obama, climbing by almost $600 billion — a 32% increase — in his first three years. And Obama's last budget called for these payments to climb another $500 billion by 2016, at which point they would account for fully two-thirds of all federal spending.

Gee, maybe that's because some other guy irresponsibly gave the banks the key to
the vault, which destroyed the economy and put millions on the dole in a short period
of time
I wonder if you are internally as dishonest as you project here on ATS???

Entitlement much?

Ignorant Much?

People getting benefits. According to the Census Bureau 49% now live in homes where at least one person gets a federal benefit — Social Security, workers comp, unemployment, subsidized housing, and the like. That's up from 44% the year before Obama took office, and way up from 1983, when fewer than a third were government beneficiaries.

You are too much man, full speed to ignorance... Again you ignore that the economy was in the
worst shape it has been in for over 70 years, the day he took office. I think you truly expected
him to SAVE you and wave a magic wand. Seems like you have some REALLY BIG government
expectations.

Nanny state much?

Food stamps. This year, more than 46 million (15% of all Americans) will get food stamps. That's 45% higher than when Obama took office, and twice as high as the average for the previous 40 years. This surge was driven in part by the recession, but also because Obama boosted the benefit amount as part of his stimulus plan.

Did you really pen this whole thread on one giant lie? The whole thread is just BS???
Really?

And yet, Obama called Bush the food stamp president.

Disability. The number of people on Social Security disability has steadily climbed since the 1970s, thanks mainly to easier eligibility rules. But their numbers jumped 10% in Obama's first two years in office, according to the Social Security Administration. That sharp rise was due largely to meager job prospects since the recession ended in 2009. When employment opportunities are scarce, experts note, many who could otherwise work sign up for disability benefits instead.

news.investors.com...

When Obama gets reelected and when this economy does turn around, I am
gonna laugh at you and rub it in so much, you will have to make another
persona and pretend you didn't write this garbage for half a decade...

If you want to atribute a legacy the same as Carters' then you and Obama are wecome to it.

Personally, I think the ony reason Carter is still alive is in hopes of seeing a worse president than himself.

Obama didn't create the economic collapse which occurred under his predecessors term, and I haven't seen the Republicans do a damn thing to alleviate a situation they own the lion's share for creating.

Really?? Now if you want to play the political game let us remember that some of the dems in congress where their and voted! As these days the repubs are the obstructionists, we must also remember the role the dems still played in the bills that went through. They were in control in the last years of the Bush administration. So they can from hence forth be referred to as the enablers.

I'm not in Obama's camp. Personally I'm pulling for Romney but I call them as I see them and this was a smooth move imo.
