I am (fill in the blank).

I heard this tonight and it blew me away. I was in born again christianity for a long time. I've gone on into other things; but, alot of the teachings of Jesus have stuck with me. And now I hear this verse spoken in a new way that is consistent with enlightenment teachings, imo.

John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Mystic version: I am is the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by I am.

I am (fill in the blank).

We fill in that blank many ways: with christian, atheist, mystic, enlightened, stubborn, open-minded, sinner, sinner saved by grace, etc. etc. But, what we fill in that blank with, is just a cloak that our I am wears. (cloaks include self, our persona, our story, our body).

We come to the Father by our I am, not the cloaks that we've put upon our I am. It's an internal way of awakening and awareness, a realization of I am.

Dear ajkesh,

I am me. I define myself and because of that can have true relationship with others. To know and be known is the answer and if all we do is chase the goodies of the world then that is who we are. Self determination means recognizing that it is a choice. Peace and good question.

Simplest answer but by far the most accurate I would say.
I also cannot say that 'you are you' as I do not know who 'you' are. The only person who really knows who you are is you!
Therefore I am me applies to everybody!
We define ourselves but unfortunately we allow society to dictate the person, all that matters is being yourself, whoever that is!!

Not a Christian, as can be easily seen by my posts, but, to me, the best way to fill that black is not with a common name, or a religious faith. The best way to say it is thus: I AM SPIRIT. Once you come to that point, no religious faith/dogma is needed anymore. Everything become simple, and life becomes real.

I am nothing percievable because I percieves.
I am the seer and knower of all things.
I am the all seeing, all knowing eye.
