Serbia and Montenegro, Slovakia, Slovenia, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom AND the United States."

I displayed the Union flag once on my Facebook profile pic, the idea was, that each of us that played one of the games on there, displayed our respective countries flags in memory of those fallen in war (one of the players brothers had just been killed in Afghanistan).

One person de-friended me and 3 more sent me nasty mail calling me a racist for displaying the Union flag.

I still shake my head to this day.

You MUST be joking. Every race has every right to take pride in their culture and not be scoured for the sins of their fathers. Taking pride does not necessitate superiority and anyone who thinks so has an obvious distorted perception.

Intellectual number few in this thread so far! A little late, but better late than never!

They won't believe it when a non-white non-Australian tells them, maybe they will believe it when one of their own tells them bluntly.

The news article says that people who fly the flags on their car are more likely to be racists.

Not that people that have flags on their cars are being racist.

Drama Llama.

Just another day in the whole scheme of things. Just another day for people to sweep the real issues under the carpet and get smashed and set themselves up for a potential 4 day weekend (whether they work or not).

The paddy wagons and the police cells will be getting maximum use 2day!

Actully i think it's a fair call calling it 'Invasion Day'
I mean lets face it thats pretty much what is celebrated.

As for the the raucous Fervour surrounding Australia Day, i really think that such an overt display is kinda fake.

I'm proud to be Australian but i don't feel the need to scream and shout and cover everything in the flag.

No there isn't. Humans have the same basic DNA. We're all 99% like one another.

Maybe you have some sort of distorted perception that people the live in the jungle are less human than you, even though they're not. That's opinion, not rooted in fact at all. Fact is we all have the same DNA minus tiny, seriously tiny, differences.

I ain't too find of the 4th of July. The British were fairly decent to my people and the Colonists held a long grudge against us for it. Still do I reckon. But it is the day the whites celebrate and I ain't too keen on them not celebrating it. I would rather they allow us to elect our own people to head the BIA instead of getting a white to control our money and lands. They will never do it, but I still wish they would.

However, when a group of people make child molesting a national pass time and they huff gasoline so bad they had to change the formula to prevent it. Then you can't even begin to call them equals. They're not by any means. Their skulls don't even look human compared to a white. As such, their opinion matter precisely nothing.

I'm a first generation Australian from an Italian background and I am proud as punch of this fantastic country. My grandfather had to leave Italy after World War 2 as he could not feed his family. He came to Australia and never looked back. This country offered him work, safety and freedom. He came here at the age of 44 and started again and paid a house off and led a comfortable life here. Although his English was bad he learnt as much as he could he absolutely loved AFL footy and Carlton was His team. So I'm Aussie and I love this Country. I've been to Italy for a visit and that is not my home, Australia is my home. No Country is perfect but this is a fantastic place to live. I'm thankful that Britain came here and created a stable Government here and have allowed so many Immigrants to come over too. I am sorry to the Aboriginals that had there land taken and I am respectful of there History as they are the rightful decsendants of this Land. I hope that over time more can be done to help and heal the wounds that were created. I also believe that as my Grandfather was able to come we should continue to encourage Immigration. I have had the fortune to work with many new Immigrants to this Country (Chinese, Egyptians, Iranians, Iraqis, Indians, Sri Lankins) the list goes on. I can honestly say that these different cultures enrich Australia further and from what I can tell most of these people are grateful that they have come here and that they love our Country too. So yeah I will definitely be flying the flag this Australia day.

You are wrong, until recently it was thought Europeans and Asians were descendents from Africa. However, DNA evidence has proven there is a 2-4% difference between Euros/Asians to Africans. Meaning that there is a missing link from where we originated from. In case you didn't know, almost all life on Earth share 99% of the same DNA, so even a 0.5 difference is ENORMOUS.
