All done here! A cell broke off from the line and it sounded horrible outside when it hit. Shortly after it was gone the sirens sounded so I rounded up the kids and went to the basement. We waited and waited listening to those dang sirens and nothing....nada...no wind, no hail, no nothing. It was weird. Came back upstairs to watch the news and the line was past me by about 5 minutes. I was at least expecting as much as the first round.

Hope the rest of you get it as easy as I did. I was happily surprised by the lack of whooshing winds and golf ball sized hail.

Eyes to the skies for the people east of me.
Stay safe.

Southern Illinois; our power was out for a good 2.5 hours here. Very scary high winds, and no basement. My son and I were up freaking out. Needless to say he's not going to school for lack of sleep.

Wish I saw this before the fact. No net, no phone, no tv, no way to know what if anything was headed toward us. Felt like I was 200 years ago, living on prayer. And denial.

Potentially significant tornado is on the ground on the Tuscaloosa/Jefferson County Line. Couplet is around 100 knots on the lowest tilt with a very organized mesocyclone currently present. Dangerous situation ongoing in Alabama!

I guess I just barely missed it then, you must be farther south than I am. I'm just east of St. Louis and all we got here was some slightly strong winds and some lightning but it didn't even rain. We usually get some small tornadoes in towns within just a few miles of us but my area has never been hit as far as I know. It's always worrying not having a basement with all those tornadoes close by though.

EDIT: The winds are really picking up all of a sudden. Looks like I may not be out of the storm quite yet. No rain or lightning at the moment though.

Morning folks, well, at least for me.

Hope everyone fared well thru the night.

There is still some nasty weather moving east, looks like eastern Tennessee just now.

Notice a couple tornado warning boxes a ways west of Atlanta.

Stay Safe Folks

Looks like Gadsden, Al. and heading into Rome Georgia.
