After doing research into the bible I have determined that this is not the work of God, but the work of man being passed off as divine. I have read so many things in the bible that just my skin crawl. From the rules for slaves, to the treatment of women. I have asked several people about this and I always get some variation of the same 2 answers. This does not pertain anymore or that's the old testiment so it doesn't matter. I'm sorry but how can a book that was supposedly written for the protection of our immortal soul become out of date. Is it simply well we have computers now so we can cross this out, or the government says woman are equal to men so no more sexism. The Bible clearly states its stance on this. It clearly states that the old testiment still stands. So how do you a law abiding citizen and a Christian obey both the bible and the law of man. Women how many of you are willing to bow down and know your place as the bible says. There are many verses that say this. If you want to see the quotes go here. www.enlightenedseeker.wordpress.com I cover some of these verses in detail.

I would kind of agree with you. I think it's written by man party on an attempt to teach, and partly on an attempt to control. I do firmly believe in God and I believe the stories in the Bible that try to teach lessons do a timeless job at just that. Some chose to believe that God himself wrote it, and that's fine too. maybe he did and I am wrong. But that is the amazing thing about the animals we have become. We have free will and the ability to make decisions based on the evidence we believe is credible. I don't think anyone who believes different is wrong, just different. And the only way we will ever find out the whole truth is to die. I hope to live a bit first, but look forward to the knowledge once that time comes. Just my opinion though.

See this is the issue... it wasn't written for "protection of our immortal soul"...

It was written as a means of control over the populous...

Fortunatly for us, since the introduction of the internet... that control as come to an end for those that chose to actually read it for themselves... In the past the churches had the only authority on the bible... now the reader that is free from others telling them what to believe is the authority...

And Gods message to his children is still plane as day...

Sadly not everyone can see or hear that message

I love this post. I can't say anything about it except you seem to be an enlightened soul. Don't come across to many that think like you.

Hiya Akragon. Been meaning to send a u2u to touch base as we haven't been debating lately lol! As per your statement above: I can't find any external evidence that shows anything of the sort in any compelling or scholarly way.

Maybe you come to that conclusion by what we term 'internal' evidence?

Regardless, hope all is well with you.

Networkdude: Excellent reply and food for thought.

"After doing research into the bible I have determined that this is not the work of God"

Of course not , i would question god for making a book with such blatant contradictions , evilness , idoltry and many other atrocious things !!

What kinda divine source would ever concockt! such a blasphamy against him self!

if he did write it , i would ask him what the confusion sir ? you already hide , you got a 50/50 prayer rate success rate which is the same as flipping a coin ^^

why would you write such a shady book , he wouldn't ! lol

you can't look at this bible , read it compare it , and not come to the conclusion something is really messed up here ...

and somebodys lying to me lol. But i'm sure after your research you figured out whom.

"I have read so many things in the bible that just my skin crawl. From the rules for slaves, to the treatment of women. I have asked several people about this and I always get some variation of the same 2 answers. "

yes , i don't understand a divine being inspiring some of these things the bible talks about . Outlandish ! I would never worship such a diety , even if the bible is true.

you heard me. Apparently my philosophical views differ greatly from the god OF THE BIBLE, that i would still dismiss it , even if god came down today and say hey here i am , bible my book.

I will say no sir. your good out weighing the bad scale is bust , like your bible ! lol

If there is a satan ! i say his hand is in the bible! What's say you ?

I'm gonna say it dammit ! The BIBLE today is , like that of the work of SORCHA FAAL !!!

lol

If we knew gods message we would all hop on that boat and merry all along.

his message is under tons and tons and tons of misinfo , disinfo , lies , minipulation , games , deception etc etc etc.

plane as day would be god just pops up in the sky and says heeeeey !!

stop fighting , i'm the "man" (not literally ) lol . do this , don't do that ..

we will say oh yea ? prove it your god ...

points at the sun and explodes it , but as the radiation flies towards us at fantastic speeds , he reverses it and puts the sun back together.

lol that would be clear as day ! literally :p

where is his message i ask of you good sir ? in select verses of the 4 books? Is it in our hearts already built in ? but we just gotta figure out which words best describe it ? but then where do we get those words from...

For many yes and for many no. I believe biblical figures from various religions lived by example as a reflection of what we are capable of achieving by living a happy and positive life. In that sense, we are all Jesus, Buddha, Allah and so forth.

It can only apply as ancient literature, fiction or a work of philosophy and nothing more. A book is a book.

Well because you are such a scholar of the Bible I am wondering why there are no verses you give to support these claims. The basic theme inside the Bible is to be selfless and humble. The Bible does not say anything about men being superior to women. And what about slavery? You do realize that was a way of paying off a debt to someone in those times? So then if the bible says that slaves should be obedient to their masters whats wrong with that? It also tells the master to be good to his slaves. God wants us to become more like him rather than more like the world. The only valid point you did make was how does one stay true God and not break the law. Because this world is becoming so morally bankrupt it's true governments are starting to outlaw perfectly moral character, but the Bible is clear to always be faithful to God before anything else, even if you are considered to be breaking the law. The problem isnt the Bible, it's a lack of reading comprehension, pride, political correctness, and every other lie modern culture tries to shove down our throats.

Does the sun still shine?

If the Bible was no longer relevant Christianity would have died out long ago... A lie can only be upheld for so long until it is exposed, so far it's been over 2000 years and man still hasn't been able to expose it because Christianity is the truth, Jesus really did Rise from the dead, and he is the way the truth and the life.

The Laws of the Old Testament was meant for the Jewish people and the tribes of that time. The reason it's in the Christian Bible is because it gives us the history of our origins and valuable lessons that we can learn, not to mention the hundreds of prophecies. I don't think anyone can judge whether these Laws were appropriate for that time period since none of us lived then.

Christians are not under the law of the Mosaic covenant since Christians believe that Jesus is the mediator of the New Covenant. THE MOSAIC LAW IS NOT BINDING ON CHRISTIANS.

And no the bible is not a means to control the populace, most of the establishment in power are actually devout Satanists and Freemasons. The Bible actually does the opposite and exposes much of the evil forces and controllers of this world. If you read the gospel accounts Jesus actually sets you free and gives you a means to escape the bondage we our born into. The Bible is a form of Freedom not control.

Jesus Christ is the only way to God; He alone is able to redeem. He alone is worthy of our devotion and worship. Jesus is the truth!

Acts 4:12 - Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

I had the same thoughts as you OP. but this is the conclusion i have come to:

I think we give too much credit to Satan and his influence over what we call the Bible today. I think a lot of information and manuscripts were taken out by God and His divine influence, for reasons He truly knows. i think the original "scriptures" would have been bigger than houses, to be honest.

to this date, we have mainly two texts to choose and read from, the Masoretic text, which is considered the authoritative Hebrew text of the Jewish bible that was probably written in the 10-11th century, or the Septuagint, a Greek translation of the Old Testament + the apocryphal, which was translated around 300 B.C. and referred to by the apostles in the NT.

how do we become a man of the law and a man of God? this is my opinion: as a Christian, we must abide the law of government. I draw that line when the government intrudes on my faith or God given rights. luckily in the US, if the people do not agree with a law, we have the right to PEACEFULLY protest.

We obey the laws of man until they come into conflict with that Jesus commanded of us. The day man's laws come into conflict with what Christ commanded we will default to what our King says as he is our ultimate authority and if we are persecuted for our beliefs then he will address those wrongs at the appointed time. Dying for his name's sake and because we love him is the least we can do if called to it. Jesus' commands are for all time, or until this heaven and earth pass away, only then will the laws of the bible be abolished.

Star and flag, I like what you said. And I agree. The Bible can no longer be trusted as a true historical document, it is more like a collection of documents from many different cultures all rolled into one little package, and I most strongly believe it is being used to lead people down a dark path, by forcing them to wear a veil, and to refuse anyone's advice not of the religion, and to completely forget who they really are, and to see Divinity out there in some undefined location, always altering the natural order of things, and personally talking to people, and working magick in answering prayers, and gaining new converts. New converts means more money, and more energy to send to whatever force they are worshipping disguised as something nice, and loving.

All right, I will.
He excused the beating of slaves to death (Ex. 21:20-21)
He required a woman to marry her rapist (Deut. 22:28:29)
He ordered the taking of a harlot (Hosea 1:2, 3:1-2)
He killed a man who refused to impregnate his widowed sister in-law (Gen.38:9-10)
He punished children for the sins of their fathers (Ex. 12:29, 20:5, Deut. 5:9)

People hate the bible because of modern philosophies. Bible still pertains to today, talking about the foolishness of men's philosophies. But nowasday wise things are considered foolish and foolish things are considered wise.

Did you not read the entire post. I gave a link to back up all my info. You want the verses about men over woman. Go to www.enlightenedseeker.wordpress.com I cover this in detail both old and new testiment. check The Bible: It's views on women part 1 &2 There you will see the verses that I am speaking of. And yes the bible clearly states that man and woman are not equal and woman shall hold no power over man. So I ask once again does this still stand today.

So I'm foolish for believing that my wife is equal to me. I foolish for believing that a woman should not be forced to marry her rapist. I'm foolish for believing that slavery in any form should be outlawed and condemned. But yet out of Jesus's own mouth he said slavery was ok, he said that woman were not equal to men. Here is the link www.enlightenedseeker.wordpress.com I cover this in detail.

It was written as a means of control over the populous...

Then why was the period of time when the church authority had the most "control" over the people was the middle age when no normal person owned a Bible and it was illegal for them to have one? Why were translators dragged from their homes and burned at the stake for working furiously to translate the Bible into English so the common man could have one?
