Any military attack on Iranian nuclear or missile facilities, and possibly an oil embargo against Iran, will only increase Iran's resolve to build a missile capable nuclear weapon.

The reasons I often hear in defense of Iran are: America kills people indiscriminately, America only fights wars for oil, America should mind its own business (as if nuclear threat isn’t our business), Iran has never started a war with any country, Iran should be allowed to have nuclear weapons because America does, Iran is a peaceful nation, Iran would never use a nuke even if they had one, Iran just wants nuclear energy (which is why they’re building reactors underground)

Saying that you have heard it much is not going to show that it is wrong.

I have heard that human beings die at last and I have seen them dying , but the facts are the facts.

DEATH TO AMERICA DAY

And they surely mean death to American people , but you refuse to accept.

And why they are not satisfied with US policies toward Iran and other countries , are the facts you refused to believe in the beginning.

So you erased the facts , you inserted your agenda , you get your own conclusion.

Just worthy for yourself.

And what could we expect from a person who his avatar is an army man ?

Warmongering.

Agreed.

If they get nukes AND a delivery system capable of reaching America from Iranian soil, THEN we may want to reconsider, but otherwise, we need to reign back and let folks take care of their own problems.

I disagree. The threat of possible Dirty bombs or a Nuke being shipped via an oil tanker or Cargo ship is not beyond the realm of possibilities.

After all, it's being the World Police that got us in this mess to begin with (Iran hating us)...that, and our reliance on foreign oil.

Agreed.

Paints down?

Call me when Karzai can leave a city with a brigade with him.

Even by US accounts, the Taliban have not left, and are currently gaining support.

Us is the only country nuked two cities and killed millions of people.

And while the OP invite others to refusing it , they make their thread and they justify another nation while they have some big bombs.

Being Critical of the Iran?

You can be as long as you could gather true information.

But it is hard to get true information about most countries US chooses as target.

And Iran has started some English speaking channels but it is not enough.

American people are really being dis-informed and some people find it hard to accept it.

So, is the contention of this thread that those who want Iran to have nukes are peace activists?

This seems to the tone set here.

Sorry.

It is not true to ask people who don't believe in anything to respect other people belief.

My fault.

My feelings are ---- That you've worked yourself out of a job over in the "Big Sandy" [Iraq,] and "Asscrackistan"[Afghanistan;] and you want to stay employed so as get the U.S. in another military quagmire over the mullah's in Iran.

Your starting to sound like a real mercenary.

Cool your jet's,

So...

How does this relate to the fact that being critical of Iran's Activities being viewed here at ATS as Taboo among so many?

I think the whole idea of us wanting to dictate what Iran's policies should be are egocentric and pathetic.

Here we have a people who sits in their own homes over 2000km away from Iran trying to justify what rights Iran have or should have. How pathetic.

We have a right to have a opinion about Iran, but making our opinion a law by force is pathetic.
We would never let another nation do that to us. That is why we have nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction. We have created a defence to have the right to do as we please within our own borders.

Now since we have this well established defence, we use our defencive power to dictate our own policies on nation who dont have the same defencive power. Because what the OP is doing is dictating he's own personal policies on Iran. And he is doing so in the comfort of defencive power. A defencive power that is now being used for aggression.

Well OP I only have one problem with this. Iran is one of the only nations in the middle east to sign the nuclear nonproliferation treaty.

I'm sorry if you see them as a threat but because they are one of the signers they have the right. (not the ability, or the privilege.. the right) to pursue nuclear power legally according to international law.. If we are a nation that respects the rule of law then we are obligated to let them.. So far there is no real evidence that they are after a weapon... In fact their enrichment practices are getting them no where close to weapons grade.. and I'm happy about that...

Unfortunately until this happens, we as the United States, per international law have no right to invade them.

The Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, commonly known as the Non-Proliferation Treaty or NPT, is a landmark international treaty whose objective is to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons and weapons technology, to promote cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy and to further the goal of achieving nuclear disarmament and general and complete disarmament

Wiki Article

Part of the deal of being a signer is it gives you the right to pursue peaceful uses for nuclear technology..

So, hmdphantom, how much do you really know about what's going on in Iran?

As Fars News Agency claims, are there really THOUSANDS of students who sent in a letter volunteering to support the nuclear program?

Were there really 300 students at the technical university who changed their studies to nuclear technology in support of the assassinated scientist?

Oh sorry.. must have missed it...

Where did you read that Iran has nukes, or wants nukes? Oh, right.. that's just your assumption... yeah.. forgot that part.

I think I'll go ahead and follow every warmonger in this thread and ask for sources to back up your claims.
