Really captivating story op S&F The theory of our young ones being untouched by mans view of the world is old. But the story's you have dug up adds fuel to this debate and shines light on something that needs more study.

Imo..Widespread emotional distress is the major reason and the key that is unlocking these temporary psychic thought forms from our collective subconscious. We are telepathically projecting our desires to be rescued by superior beings...

It's not only children who have ever seen angels. I have seen an angel as an adult, it was very clear. A very holy angel, and yes, with beautiful wings. It was at a very low point in my life and I was in a life threatening circumstance. One doesn't have to be a living the life of a holy saint to have the angels intervene. You can be far removed from living a life of grace and still have an experience of divine protection. Personally, I think this happens more often than we know, but with adults, these Holy Spiritual Beings are often not seen by the physical eye. Why some people seem to be protected while so many others don't seem to be apparently at all is not an easy question to answer. There is so much going on in the unseen. When we get Home, I believe we will have the answers given to us.

I have mentioned on this site once before of an encounter I had when I was little. I saw something that my grandmother, who was the only person in the room with me, couldn't see. It was a man standing at the foot of the bed. Looking back, I think he very well could have been protecting me. I cannot remember exactly what he looked like, and I have always wondered if hypnosis would allow me to describe him.

So I can attest to the fact that children can see things that adults cannot. I have heard many family stories of the same thing, and am inclined to believe them.

I don't believe that butterfly people or angels exist as the common conception of them, though I do think the most appropriate word to define the tornado that hit Joplin is none other than "hellish". When you hear someone talk about a house just exploding, you know it was a very intense tornado. Anyone going through something like that may feel compelled to expand on the story a bit, even the OP admits children are prone to keep traumatic experiences internally yet the first explanation she provides about something resembling angels is taken as words in stone.

Many people died there that day with no angels to help them, if there is some god out there that is the great qualifier of people that die in natural disasters or otherwise and he micromanages us like a big realistic game, then I don't really want any part of it. Also, that means we are controlled and assassinated by some omnipotent being and I don't like that very much. Believing in god, angels and such pretty much makes it hypocritical to believe in human rights and free will.

Two guys see tentacles come out of the water and its a sea monster, hundreds of years later its a colossal squid and it probably couldn't harm anything bigger than a canoe. People tend to expand on stories, or like OP said, internalize them and come up with other explanations.

When the internment camps in nazi germany were opened by the American and allied troops they were confronted by skeletal forms of what seemed to be human beings. There were also Children present and when they were receiving counselling - the Children were given pencils and paper to draw - some were so traumatised that speaking was impossible and counsellors were keen to be as gentle as possible.

There was a recurring theme as the Children engaged in their drawing - of course there were depictions of the horrors they had witnessed but - butterflies. The Children were all drawing butterflies.

Butterflies took on a new meaning from then on - they became a depiction of HOPE. As told to me by a trauma counsellor.

Much Peace...

I'm glad those kids made it through the storm. Angels or not, miracle or just plain luck, doesn't matter as long as they are ok.

Also, this popped in my head as I read the story:

Perhaps it depends on

HOW BIG

big was.

Would be interesting to see if there are any reports estimating their height.

Not even necessarily by "praying",although praying probably sometimes does create thought forms. These beings arise from our collective subconscious as we "unknowingly" project them into our reality.I think thats what Carl Jung thought the majority of UFOs most likely were and this is also why these entities remain ever elusive phantoms never captured, because they are only partly real, like sasquatch, cornwall birdman, ufo's,lake monsters, butterfly people ect,ect...

I'm thinking its because children haven't been told they can't see them.

That or they reveal themselves to the kids because if they did to adults they would be called demons and stuff.

Crazy how we think we are smarter than children just because we have age and experience on our side.

a long time ago my Mother spent a day on Blacks Beach, well the only way off of that beach is a climb up this steep cliff (easy to get down getting back up is much harder). Well she got close to the top and couldn't get any further ..she was stuck! suddenly a friendly face appeared over the edge he extended his arm and said take my hand and I'll pull you up.My Mom said no I'll only pull you over , and he said no it will be okay .So she grabbed his hand and she said he pulled her up like she weighed nothing . Well when she was at the top he and two other guys were there and she said just had this feeling overwhelm her that these guys were angels! She thanked them for helping her and told them to have a nice day. The one said ,"we will when we get to heaven"

she couldn't wait to tell me this story when she got back home

Jimi Hendrix » Angel

Angel came down from heaven yesterday
She stayed with me just long enough to rescue me
And she told me a story yesterday,
About the sweet love between the moon and the deep blue sea
And then she spread her wings high over me
She said she's gonna come back tomorrow

And I said, "Fly on my sweet angel,
Fly on through the sky,
Fly on my sweet angel,
Tomorrow I'm gonna be by your side"

Sure enough this morning came unto me
Silver wings silhouetted against the child's sunrise
And my angel she said unto me,
"Today is the day for you to rise
Take my hand, you're gonna be my man,
You're gonna rise"
And then she took high over yonder

And I said, "Fly on my sweet angel,
Fly on through the sky,
Fly on my sweet angel,
Forever I will be by your side"

And thanx to the OP for a great thread.

Been researching a lot about Angels lately.

Here's my angel story.....I was working at a diner - opening up at the beginning of the day. As I was opening the cash register a man came in (clearly under the influence of something) and started talking smart to me. I was putting him off and handling it the best I could....and I admit I was starting to get frazzled even though I was used to dealing with all kinds of things with this job. Suddenly I noticed to my left a beat up truck stopped at a red light and I recognized the two people inside. The woman turned her head at that moment and jumped out of the truck, ran in the diner, jumped the counter and stood b/w me and the guy who was giving me a hard time. She threatened him and he left. Probably about 10-15 minutes later I heard sirens; the man went across the street and pulled a gun on the worker at the convenience store on the opposite corner of my shop.

The rest of the story.....

This woman was no angel. I recognized her because she came in the diner once in awhile....and I always treated her right. She was known by a nickname (that I will withhold just in case someone here may know her) and her story was basically that she was a homeless person, very rough......did time in prison for setting her boyfriend on fire. I believe she was an angel for that moment....because she had the opportunity and allowed herself to be. I always treated her with respect regardless of how she looked or what I knew about her and it came back to me at an apparent time of need. I do believe in God but even if you call it karma or whatever, what we do, without a doubt, either haunts us or blesses us and as long as we are alive we can change the direction we are going in. Angles don't always have wings or look like butterflies.

Oh, and the guy driving the truck was the same guy she set on fire.....talk about forgiveness.

S & F for a great thread!

Here's my most recent Angel story,
One Saturday I was driving my 84 year old Mother (the most saintly woman I know) home after she had spent the night at my house with my wife and 5 year old daughter. I decided to stop at a convenience store to get us both coffee. When I pulled up in front of the building we saw what looked like an old, short, disheveled, cowboy that looked like he had stepped right out of the year 1900. [I've been to this store 100's of times and never seen him there, nor have I again months later]. He was standing next to a garbage can, and I'm sure most people would have taken him for a homeless beggar. (I admit i did at first). As I approached the door I smiled and made eye contact with him and said, "Good Morning, and how are you this morning Sir?", he gave me a HUGE smile as if he couldn't believe the person before him was treating him with respect and cared how his morning was. He said good morning, but nothing else profound.
I continued into the store and got our coffee and when I came out the door I made it a point to look his way. When he looked up I said "You have a wonderful day sir!". He said, "Oh I will, I will. You do the same now, ya hear!". When I was sitting in my truck getting situated, I heard my Mom say, "He's coming to your door". When I looked up I see his 20gallon hat lol (the thing looked huge) come to my driver's door, walking with a distinct limp, and I put my window down. (I have to admit I thought here comes the pitch for money now). He said in a soft voice, "I just wanted to come over and let you know you've made my day!" and I just said, "Well I don't know what I did Sir, but thank you for walkin all the way over here to tell me. You have a wonderful day now!". He reached out to give me a knuckle bump and as our hands bumped he said, "You have a Wonderful Eternity!" and I see him give me a smile, like the kind that people give you when they know something and you don't. With a twinkle in his eye then walked away.
I got chills up my spine as I put my window back up and as we drove away my Mother said the same thing I was already thinking, That was an Angel! I mean come on, who ever says, Have a wonderful eternity?
I've had other incidence like this, where you talk to someone one min, like giving them directions, and a few seconds later they are gone, no where to be found.
Angels are out there! You just have to be open for even small encounters like this one. I do have to give my opinion about what someone posted early on in this thread, they were asking for Angels or Aliens to help them. To emphatic I say be very careful, and specific, what you ask for because I think that aliens are demonic. You don't want to open yourself up to their attack!
Amen

As far as i know, our perceptions of what we think an angel looks like is taken from medieval paintings and in reality,we dont even know if they really exist and if they do,we dont know what they look like...

Theres no way for anyone to know if what the being they were looking at was an angel or not...

Everyone,or most everyone, sees what they want to see and some people say they saw "what they thought" was an angel from heaven, while others "think" they saw an alien from space and some claim to have seen demons from hell...

We do not "really know" what these things are or where they are coming from...

Wow! I got home from work to find all these fantastic comments, stories, and videos. Thank you all so much for your participation. What fun to read

On a side note, I think it would be a lot of fun to create a thread for everyone to tell their stories of "angels". (Even if you didn't see any wings).

It's presumptuous to think that the 161 weren't purposely taken by God.

Biblical angels were never described as being seen by some and not others.

IIRC, there are some such examples.

I'll have to try and track down the verses.

Bishman,

What you have said is not correct.

Baalam's donkey saw an angel and would not pass, so Baalam beat the donkey. Then God gave a voice to the donkey who revealed the angel in its path so Baalam could see it. Once Baalam could see the angel, he turned back from where he was going and he apologized to the donkey.
