Yes! When I heard it last night, I was around many people but hardly any of them reacted to it. Just me and a couple others had a puzzled look on our face and we looked around and that was it.
drunkcops, are you exactly in DC or in the outlying DC metro area? I'm in Montgomery Co MD. I didn't hear anything last night but we are doing some work on our house and would not have heard much of anything the past week, except during breaks.

I've heard the odd sounds before, in many variations on the theme, in both MD and in coastal Carolina. The only one my husband reacted to was the Carolina one, that was eerie and drove us off the beach and indoors. But nobody else on the beach seemed to take any notice.

About last February I was out on my street unpacking groceries and got treated to a sound show that was quite impressive with omni directional rumblings with no storms showing on my iPhone radar app. It could not have been ordinary plane sounds, because the sounds were bouncing around with no discernible source as you would get with a plane. Plus I am very familiar with plane sounds, having grown up under the flight path of an AFB and living near enough to a small airport for small private planes. And the military sometimes conducts exercises over our town. That's a very distinctive set of sights and sounds that is very easy to recognize.

But the odd rumblings I'm talking about witnessing last year and part of the year before, they are like the one's other people report hearing. And the really impressive one I heard while unloading my groceries, went completely ignored by all the neighbors around me, bustling about, coming home from work and hurrying in to get their own dinners on the table. Even with me standing conspicuously out listening, nobody paid me any mind and did not seem to notice at all the fact loud rumbling and faintly moaning sounds were bouncing around the sky over our heads. It was the one time I almost half expected a huge spacecraft to materialize due to the sound being so uncanny, and nobody even looked up. I nixed the idea of stopping anyone to ask them what they made of it. I'm already regarded as a bit odd for having my kid in a private school. I don't need to be drawing attention to myself that way.

In my case the sound kept on going and I had to give up on it and pay attention to more mundane concerns like getting the groceries put away and dinner on the table. I'm such a sheep!

by the way I think that event was last February, but I could be wrong. With all I have to keep track of for my aging parents and my kid, I have a memory like a sieve about dates but I have other posts about it around here somewhere if we need to pinpoint accurate dates.

Major British news network ITN have done a story, even mentioning HARRP in the title.

I just wanted to let you all know that I think I have figured out what the sound (that I heard) is. With some help from TXTriker.
I live close to one of these compressors, but it is usually very quiet. Sometimes I can hear it at night and it sounds like a semi truck in the distance. It is possible that I heard an emergency venting or malfunction. Try to ignore the chatty lady. I really think this is it! When the sound in the vid is at it's loudest, it sounds just like what I heard.

Greetings all, I do FX for TV,movies & video....I have not checked the attached sound FX wave patterns with patterns from the YT videos but they sure do sound similar. Here are the stock noises from the film War Of The Worlds.
Now you too can troll others & make scary videos ....Enjoy.

This whole time, I thought everybody was talking about the sound I heard which was a loud and rich magnetic resonant hum. These new waves of sounds don't sound anything like I've heard. I also wasn't aware that Alduin had returned to Earth.

Where's a damned Dovakin when you need one.

People are reporting
Hums
Booms
Metallic grinding
Jet like sounds.
Many sounds, likely with many different explanations.

OK....yet another member offered to analyze my vids, and he/she says it is not fracking (they compared fracking sounds to my videos)..... www.abovetopsecret.com...
We still don't know what it IS though. Anyone who wants to do their own analysis is more than welcome to.

Funny , I too experienced the loud and rich magnetic resonant hum. Not recently though, 2 years back. It only happened in early AM hrs when it was dark. It would wake me from my sleep.I could feel it through me like a muffled electric razor in my head.Stepping outside it seemed to come from everywhere. I was quite relieved when it all ended over a month's time.

Kat's videos are hard to interpret due to they way video camera mics pick up sound. An external mic with a wind sock will do the trick to eliminating natural wind & camera noise to get a better reading .

The Kiev vid and their ilk sound a lot like the WOTW SFX IMO.

I gave those videos a run through a while back (the orginals from StealthyKat's OP) - also ran through some of my audio software/equipment and did compare to fracking....not sold on the fracking thing being the cause. It's always possible, but just for theory and opinion...not thinking that is entirely it.
I really don't know WHAT the sound/experience is honestly. It has just an odd feeling with it. Best I can say having experienced it myself. Lot's of sources for the noises could be identified with the sound...but there is just something about it that just doesn't feel right.

I don't know what this sound is, still going on and it's loud and long. I stopped the tape because, I was freezing. Could be military.

Here is the recording I caught yesterday afternoon. Sorry, my crappy camera is OLD and picks up the sounds closest to it! Try not to let the woodpecker scare the crap out of you!

It was not as loud as it has been on occasion, but was loud enough to be heard inside the house.
ETS: That sharp clinking sound is my 5 yr. old throwing bricks into a pile!

Thanks for posting this. Now I've got an idea of what you heard. It's an ordinary sound to my hears, nothing eerie or mysterious about it.

This is NOTHING like what I heard.

Turn it all the way up, that static noise, is the noise. You can't hear the pitch going up and down in the middle?

You cannot hear that low roaring noise, changing pitch and growing louder and softer by turns?

That sound is NOT present in the sky above my house all the time. I have lived right here almost 40 years.

This strange noise phenomena could very well be a hoax... as shown in this video.
