The Canadian Jewish Congress is trying to make critism of Israel illegal and that includes comparing Israel to Nazi Germany.

While i despise the comparisons made between Israel's government and Nazism, it's funny that it just took Orthodox Jews, bearers of historical Judaism (and the diasporic memory) to infuriate the socialist liberal establishment enough to outlaw a right that in any other DEMOCRATIC country, would be upheld.

Same thing with Kahanism. Kahanism may have deviated from the popular Israeli sentiment, but if Israel wants to make claim to being a democratic country, they should follow democratic protocol; which means, even allowing Kach their right to displace the ruling establishment.

Jews are much too civil to succumb to the allure of civil war.

If Meir Kahane - a 'radical' Conservative, refused to fall that low, I doubt it would happen.

I think you're missing my point which is that israel is still milking what happened to jews in WW2 while everyone else who was affected has moved on.

Possibly excepting those still alive who suffered it, and those who are children and grand children of people who suffered it and knew them well.

And anyone with an idea that remembering history so as not to repeat its mistakes might be a good idea.

I'm not sure who you think you are or who you're talking to but my family was affected by the second world war as much as any other and to assume otherwise is silly, seeing as so many families and individuals were.

I saw what it did to people and I also saw how they attempted to rebuild their lives as best they could, without dwelling on what they experienced.

Again, you miss my point. A commemoration such as you pointed out is vastly different to going on and on and on and on about history and how hard done by a particular group was.
