Yep, I fixed it. I hope you'll be able to sleep better from now on. The volume of sightings seen today are what surprised me. Hopefully some more attention will be given to this.

It's the earth farting - that's where all the greenhouse gasses REALLY come from.

WE feed it a diet of crap, so of course it's digestive system is having trouble!!

This was also experienced in Clarksville, Texas December 31st, 2011

somebody posted this on the Clarksville, Texas Topix forum.

"What the heck is the big boom sound that keeps going off in Clarksville, That is shaking the house?" My grandson experienced this also.

I've experienced a noise similar to a jet flying over for about ten mins straight before. But I just chocked it up to the airport 20 miles south in Madison. I live in central Wisconsin and have yet to hear or feel anything like it in my area.

I've said this in other posts, but I'll repeat it once again.

I live in a quiet suburb of L.A, I have lived in and around this area for most my life.

Recently, my friends, my neighbors, my girlfriend and I have been hearing this low rumbling which starts up around midnight to 1am about once or twice a week, and sounds like the rumbling of a train, but we dont live near any. What makes it eerie is the fact that it is always consistent in tone, power, and general length of time. It almost sounds like some sort of stealth craft just sitting above us with jet propulsion. But its not loud enough.

It always ends just like it starts. Abrupt. We've been speculating what it could be. It has to be either coming from the sky, or the ground, because it sure as hell isnt coming from my or my neightbors houses.

Anybody find it odd that people were hearing this noise last night and there was a big earthquake in Jakarta today? Not saying they are connected... Knoxville and Jakarta aren't exactly neighbors on the map, but still.... something to think about.

I did some checking for news reports in my local area and this isn't the first time people have reported it. People in Round Rock (about an hour southeast of me), near Austin have heard it. Some from Flugerville also as well as Houston area.

I live between Round Rock and Fort Hood, and heard nothing last night. But, leaving within earshot of several quarries, loud rumblings are not unusual. My dogs, which are sensitive to such things, didn't react.

One semi-unusual source for rumblings in this area are large-scale helicopter training exercises from Fort Hood - I've seen as many as 7 choppers in formation, and even from a considerable distance this makes a low frequency rumble unlike the sound of a single chopper - Enough to vibrate objects on my desk when they get close.

Here's the video from today.....the noise is the rattling/roaring noise in the background. I don't know if you can hear it, but there were a series of banging noises. This video shows a flock of birds reacting to it.....and dogs....I wish the sound were louder....it was much louder in person....I have a few others, and they may be better....if so, I'll post them....but I went ahead and posted this one because it shows the reaction of the animals.

i'm kind of close to you. i also know what the military choppers sound like, and i'm in the airport flight path. in mid december i woke up to a sound i'd never heard before. sort of like a jet but it lasted way to long and there was some sort of intermittent "whirring" sound. i'm not sure what other word to use but since i've listened to other videos it was like a big sheet of metal being rattled. i only heard it the one time and it was in the middle of the night. i didn't notice anything shaking. that probably would have had me jumping out of bed!

Hey, some of you might be interested in reading up on the "Taos Hum". I stumbled upon this subject when I was experiencing a lot of OBEs during my early 20s.

Pretty creepy, it sounds like an X-files episode -

Most famous in the U.S. is the "Taos Hum". There the annoyance was so acute for the "hearers" in Taos, New Mexico that they banded together in 1993 and petitioned Congress to investigate and help them find the source of the noise. No conclusive causes were discovered. One prevailing theory holds that the hum is created by a military communications system used to contact submarines.

Most hearers say the noise begins abruptly, never abates, interferes with sleep and is more noticeable inside a house or car than outside. Some describe it as sounding like a diesel engine idling in the distance.

Kat You really out did Yourself this time ! That is simply amazing, I have some kickin speakers and can hear it real well. I have only heard something like this once that it grabbed my attention and was sometime last year @ 3 something in the morning. I just kept listening and waiting for it to go away. Woke the ole man so I would have a witness but, he just got pi$$ed that I woke him. Would have to say was before September because I was still working nights back then. I had that night off and always stayed awake back then to stay on track... Keep up the great work folks ! PEACE

I live between Fort Hood and Lampasas. I live just a few miles from Lampasas actually, so 20-25 miles west of Fort Hood. I don't live near any quarries, and I live way out in the country. We are not in the flight path, but if I stand out in my backyard and look east I can see the flight path of the Killeen and Fort Hood airport way off in the distance. We have lived here since late June and have never seen any helicopters or airplanes over or near our house. Last night was the first time I have ever heard this noise since moving here. Before we moved here we lived on Fort Bragg, NC and I heard humming all the time, but we did live in the base's flight path and knew that it was their C-130's flying overhead, but even still it never lasted 3-4 hours continuously.

I gotta say that map seems to depict a pattern that runs somewhat along the Appalachian Mountain Range. I have no idea if this could be related, but judging by the map alone, it could be...

I considered it a possible quake as well, especially after having received information that I live where a small 2.2 just occurred,

I can't be positive with this however, because I had no idea a quake could last for such a long period, increasing and decreasing in intensity.

I have also noticed this sound off and on over a year or so now and also don't know if quakes are recurring like this in a particular area.

Yes, the New Madrid Zone, that is the line I was trying to remember, where a while back there was talk of a possible giant slaying quake erupting there.

I also want to note about the incident this morning... It went on for an extended time, but seemed to subside as the sunrise was approaching and was undetectable after sunrise.

Don't know if this means anything, but for what it's worth...
