Yes he did. He scattered them to the winds because of what they did to Yahshua and allowed Jerusalem to be destroyed. The entire reason behind their exile these last 2000 years was a punishment to them because their pride has always been their downfall and it remains so even to this day although some are sporadically beginning to awaken and accept the Messiah.

There was a rabbi who died in 2005 at the age of 110 (i know he was over 100) and he claimed to have had a dream of the Lord and he said that the Messiah gave him a prophecy, that after Areol Sharon dies the Messiah would soon return (Sharon had a stroke sometime later and has been in a coma for several years on life support) and he told the rabbi his name and that name the rabbi wrote down and had it sealed for 1 year until after his death and the name was Yeshua the aramaic name of Jesus and probably one of his truer names. This prophecy could by why they keep Sharon alive on life support. This prophecy was given by a jewish orthodox rabbi and they do not even acknowledge Christ and it has caused quite an uproar but most of the orthodox students claim that is surely is an error...

I think I missed a word, cast away, as in destroy completely. That has never happened, although there were those He did destroy, but not all. Their eyes are blinded for a season until the time of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

I saw that news story and read what the man had written. They will indeed one day accept Jesus as the Massiah, but we are not the masters of that day. God is the Master of that day and that work and I have faith that one day, God will indeed redeem Israel. We just have to pray for them and talk with them when they ask to share our faith.

My best friend is a Conservative Jew, that means she is not Orthodox as in constantly wearing the orthodox garments and will speak to Christians. But as far as the holy days, she keeps them and she keeps kosher. When she wants to know something about Jesus or why we do certain things, I explain it to her from the Bible. Several times she has said to me that I have challenged her to go look for it in the Bible, and found out I was right. She has not become Christian yet, but I am praying for her and she knows that I am. She has even called me on the phone and asked for prayer, knowing Who I pray to. Their hearts are really hungry to know the truth, and they will if we will show them that we love them.

One time I called her on the phone and asked her if she could tell me what this was...I gave her the description of the New Jerusalem from the Book of Revelation, but I did not tell her where I was reading. She listened to me and she said "That's Jerusalem as it should be"....I said thank you and hung up. So no matter what we may think about them not accepting, they are seeking, and if the Christian they are seeking from calls them "Christ killer", how is that any incentive for them? If they hear that the Christian preaches love but demonstrates hate, it will not lead them, or anyone else for that matter.

The problem began with the early church fathers who preached hatred of the Jews. People in the Middle Ages used to burn up houses of Jewish people after watching passion plays. That was absolutely wrong for the Christians to do that, we are called to love, not enact vengeance.

My best friend calls me her best friend and when she wants or needs prayer, she asks me to pray. I have to keep faith in God to keep His word.

We also must remember that God's will must be done, and if it was determined by the will of God that Jesus should die in this manner, we can't be looking at those people who kept the will of God as evil.

We cannot look at Caiaphas as an evil man, because Caiaphas never betrayed Jesus as Judas did. But Caiaphas was very clearly chosen by God to do this particular thing.

Look at what Caiaphas says in the beginning of this...

John 11:47Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles. 48If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation. 49And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all, 50Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not. 51And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation; 52And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad. 53Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put him to death.

Caiaphas knew it was expedient and he knew that he had to be used for this purpose. Everyone wants to be part of the good jobs in God's will, we never see there are those who must, absolutely must, do those things that are not pleasant.

I do not think Caiaphas tore his clothing in pure rage, the tearing of the clothes were seen as a sign of mourning and repentance. I think we should also say Caiaphas did exactly what he was supposed to do, because if he did not do it, Jesus would not have been crucified when He was.

When the other pharisees said Jesus was a threat to them and Rome, Caiaphas said "you don't know what you are talking about". It was expedient for Jesus to die for that nation and not only that nation but all the children of God who were scattered. Caiaphas did what he had to do, so scripture would be fulfilled.

wondered if anyone on this thread has considered the relevence of the story of Jesus and the women of Jacob's Well? I feel that there is an allegorical meaning to 'Jacob's Well'...and his struggle with the angel which is relevent to the discussion here.

There is in that this story in John ties the Samaritans in as being Israelites.
I don't think the well itself has anything to do with that struggle, it is just the relationship between the tribe of Judah and the other tribes.

Hmm? That is the interpretation that I have come across too, it seems to be the accepted understanding certainly but I am not so sure. I have good reason to suspect that Jacob's Well has a hidden or esoteric meaning that is, like the context of the OP, medicinal. If Jacob represents one practice, and is the source, or 'master' of that practice, which he taught to Joseph (Imhopteb) and the two women that Jesus then encounters at Jacob's Well, could be seen as practioners or students of Jacob's Well, or Font of Knowledge, then Jesus therefore represents another, or newer, or more advanced branch of the same discipline. Taken in a medicinal or healing context, I think the meaning of Jacob's struggle with the angel is clearer.

Yeah, I pretty much figured Caiaphas knew hat was going down by the things he said, it was like he had insider knowledge. When the Messiah was born they (the jews) all knew it, except for Herod who lived in his palace and didn't sleep outside on his rooftops like everyone else did so there had to be those in the priesthood that were familiar with the "signs in the heavens" that Christ was born. Nicodemus played his part too.
