Why is it "so" important for Christians to confess Jesus as their Lord?

Romans 11:17-24
17 But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive, were grafted in among them and became partaker with them of the [h]rich root of the olive tree, 18 do not be arrogant toward the branches; but if you are arrogant, remember that it is not you who supports the root, but the root supports you. 19 You will say then, “Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in.” 20 Quite right, they were broken off for their unbelief, but you stand by your faith. Do not be conceited, but fear; 21 for if God did not spare the natural branches, He will not spare you, either. 22 Behold then the kindness and severity of God; to those who fell, severity, but to you, God’s kindness, if you continue in His kindness; otherwise you also will be cut off. 23 And they also, if they do not continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again. 24 For if you were cut off from what is by nature a wild olive tree, and were grafted contrary to nature into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these who are the natural branches be grafted into their own olive tree?

Hebrews 2:16
We also know that the Son did not come to help angels; he came to help the descendants of Abraham.

Galations 3:28
There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Genises 12:31
I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you."

Galations 3:14
Through Christ Jesus, God has blessed the Gentiles with the same blessing he promised to Abraham, so that we who are believers might receive the promised Holy Spirit through faith.

The promise of Christ was given to and the salvation to all Jew and Gentile was promised to come through the descendents of Abraham. The same blessing that he received through faith we also receive through faith. Amazing thing about Abraham is he was considered righteous by the Lord. I myself am happy to call myself a descendent of the man through the salvation of the world was promised. Whether I am a descendent by blood or by Spirit it makes no difference to me. Abraham is the root of the tree. The father, the son, and the Holy Spirit are the living water that make that tree grow.

My nephew had his big outting proclaiming Jesus saved him from his sins . . .

I hope he is able to live without sin.

He is able to live without willful sin just as we all our if we accept Jesus and receive the Holy Spirit.

We fear God because we love him. You see all that spoke to God, God considered righteous because of their faith. But we don’t feel righteous. When one meets God you in essence they face judgment. They fall on their knees because they realize that they have fallen short. I know that I am a sinner and as glad as I will be to see my father I am also scared because I too have fallen short.

I can explain it in earthly terms for you. My daughter fears me, and no I am not violent towards her in anyway. When she disobeys me it makes me sad, when I am sad she feels separated from me. She fears the separation. So you see she is afraid to disobey me because she wants only my love and when she sees me sad she knows that she is not receiving my love. So out of love she is afraid to disobey me.

If you can see God in the human example it becomes easier to obey him, because you do obey him because you love him. This is the reason Jesus came to us as a human so that we may know that we our loved by God like a father. So God himself has used a human example, Jesus Christ, to show his love for us.

In this way we can now come to God in love because we know we are forgiven. When we accept this forgiveness we are no longer separated from God and he can indeed live in us, a place that he could not enter as long as we feared him and let fear keep us separated from him. Once we accept this loving gift we will become changed by the very spirit of God, living in us.

If you want to read the basics of the Good news of Christ I suggest that you read Colossians. It is 4 chapters, you should be able to read it in 10 min. I suggest that you choose the NIV translation as it is the most read and easy to understand. Personally I believe that if you can accept Colossians as the truth from God you have had enough faith to receive Christ and the Holy Spirit. If you want the Holy Spirit to grow in you, you must then water it by reading the bible and listening to the direction the Holy Spirit guides you.

Thanks for your reply. I was wondering if you wouldn't mind taking a moment to discuss this a little bit:

This will take place on the day when God judges people’s secrets through Jesus Christ

I am curious about what "through" means.

Jesus is the Judge and the son is the door to the father.

I have said many times I don’t know how anyone could stand up to judgment without Christ

Could you expand on this a little for me?

Thank you, happy new year!

The Holy Spirit is only promised to those who accept Jesus as the son of God. The bible is the only book that proclaims this message. So you see I don't know how anyone could stand up to the Judgment of Christ without letting Christ teach them through the Holy Spirit. But I always hold on to the knowledge that what is impossible for me is possible for God. This is why I do not Judge, because I don’t put myself on the throne.

Since it appears that you read the bible hopefully I can help you understand all the outside forces. If where you are being led contradicts scripture than you are not being led by the Holy Spirit. God does not contradict himself. If the message agrees with scripture than it is from the Holy Spirit.

It sounds like you have recently been given the gift of interpretation. If this is true than you can be assured that you have received the Holy Spirit. This will explain why the bible is opening itself up to you. It now is very important to let the Spirit teach you the message. If you have been churched push everything you have been taught to the back of your mind and let only the Holy Spirit guide you to the truth.

About your NDE and the love you feel. Of course you feel love because you feel the love of God. When you meet Christ on the Day of Judgment you will fall to your knees knowing that you were not worthy of the love he had for you. He will tell you to rise and out of love you will stand next to your father.

Please realize that you do not need to figure anything out for yourself. I can’t teach you but you do have a high priest and teacher that lives in you. Here are some bible verses that explain what I am saying, and a link that is a great reference tool when you are looking for answers on specific topics.

1 John 2:26-27
26 I am writing these things to you about those who are trying to lead you astray. 27 As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.

1 Corinthians 2:10
"But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God."

John 14:26
"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, HE WILL TEACH YOU ALL THINGS, and bring to your remembrance all things that I have said to you."

JOHN 16:13
"However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, HE WILL GUIDE YOU INTO ALL TRUTH ..."

2 Cor. 13:14,
"The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all."

More so than any modern popular faith Christianity pushes the concept that their relationship with their god is more personal and self centric than any other.

This learned and reinforced behavior causes the ego (A.K.A. god/jesus) of the individual to need constant reinforcement and attention.

When all you do is talk to yourself you need a lot of subterfuge to keep the lie alive.

To be honest it actually causes me to need to remain humble at all times. Knowing that you are saved can cause one's ego to get in the way of the message. I must constantly remind myself that as a sinner I am the least of all God's servants. I don't need any thing to keep my faith strong. I have been assured of my salvation by my father. This is what I pray for you in the name of Jesus Christ son of God.

You can pray all you want but nothing will close my eyes to the brilliance and beauty of a world without the shackles of the mind and heart devised by man.

Two hands working do more than any number clasped in prayer.

Also, I would ask instead of prayer you do something kind for your fellow man, it's far more prudent, just, and effective.

In fact, it was PAUL who first came up with this stuff - a thing UNKNOWN to the original Jesus' disciples.

And since the gospel writers wrote all AFTER paul, and well after his doctrine was established, we see his influence in the gospels too.

Therefore, they shall be called PAULIANS.

If we don't believe yet in Christ, why would we fear in the Hell He created????

I'm sure you would like to quote a verse saying God (or Jesus, according to you) created Hell for people.

. . . that means that person was "NEVER" in a covenant relationship with Him to begin with.

I'm sure you would like to quote a verse explaining exactly how we make a covenant with whoever you are talking about, God or Jesus.

According the the gnostic gospels which were conveniently stricken from the good book during the council of Nicaea all souls within hell were released via christ and hell ceased to exist from that point.

Kind of hard to keep people obedient when your own scripture chased out the bogeymen, so they just left that part out.

Perhaps because Jesus is Lord? The old testament and new testament both tell you exactly who Jesus is. he is the promised one. Our Immanu'el which means "God with us" or "God in person". Over half of the Old testament tells you that he is Yahuwah even Genesis ch. 3 and ch. 5 have in them prophecies of his coming and even the prophets tell you who he is. Althroughout the entire new testament from Matthew to Revelation tells you who he is. If you had ever read the entire book front to back and understood what you were reading you wouldn;t even have to ask that question. Even Jesus claims he and the Father are One and when people fell and worshipped him he accepted that worship when any other man would have been killed (Herod Antipas accepted worship and God killed him on the spot). The fact that Jesus allowed the people to worship him and didn't die for it adds credence to his identity. Accepting God's glory was enough in those days for him to kill you for it.

How can anyone live without sin if they do not have the indwelling guidance of the Holy Spirit?

Who said anything like that (being able to live without sin without God's help)?

"Gird up your loins" is a safe, flowery way to say. "Stop crapping your pants."

In the same way when the Lord addressed King Cyrus He told him that he would "Loose the loins of kings".

Did you get this from one of your YouTube videos?

You did not get that from the Bible.

I think you either made this up, or you are greatly exaggerating something, along with misunderstanding what was going on in the story in the first place.

Well according to Paul....
"the gospel I preach is not something that man made up. I did not receive it from man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ". Galatians 1:11-12

Paul followed the word of Christ. He was a disciple of Christ.
