A strong 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck off the Indonesian resort island of Bali early on Tuesday, but there was no tsunami warning and no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
The quake's epicentre was at a shallow depth of eight kilometres (five miles), the US Geological Survey said, putting it 278 kilometres south of Denpasar, on Bali. The quake hit at 2:23 am (1823 GMT Monday).
Indonesia sits on the Pacific "Ring of Fire" where continental plates collide, causing frequent seismic and volcanic activity.
JAKARTA, Indonesia - A magnitude 6.5 earthquake has hit parts of Java island and the tourist resort of Bali, but there are no immediate reports of damages or casualties.
Indonesia's Meteorology and Geophysics Agency said the eartquake that struck at 1:23 a.m. Tuesday (1823 GMT Monday) was centred beneath the Indian Ocean, but has no potential to trigger tsunami.
It was centred about 300 kilometre (180 miles) southwest of Banyuangi town on the eastern end of Java, with a depth of 10 kilometres (6 miles).
Setio Aji, an agency's official said the earthquake was strongly felt in Bali, while residents in some East Java cities told El Shinta radio they were awakened by the tremor.

For some obscure reason (probably a new advertiser) the link I had to ATS Quake Watch failed to work for a few days, all I could get was a bunch of Topics on Fragile Earth and I couldn't find the QW page anywhere,it is usually pinned to the top of the Fragile Earth Thread
I had to ask the Boss
