I was just reading about the earthquake in Italy and thought I would share this article I found.

Why Italy's Earthquake was weird--and unexpected

Is Japan up for another big quake soon? Who knows... For the past two days there has been swarm of 4-6 mag quakes of the cost. I wonder what's cooking

Magnitude 6.4 - Off The East Coast Of Honshu. Japan

Location in Google Maps
  • Date-Time: Sunday, May 20, 2012 @ 07:20:37 UTC
  • Earthquake location: 39.727°N, 143.037°E,
  • Earthquake depth: 15.6 km
  • Distances:
    93km (57mi) E of Miyako, Japan
97km (60mi) ENE of Yamada, Japan
105km (65mi) ENE of Otsuchi, Japan
111km (68mi) ENE of Kamaishi, Japan
536km (333mi) NNE of Tokyo, Japan
  • Event ID: usb0009uu3

Derived from Event Data Source: USGS
Powered by QVSData

Finally Potsdam is vindicated and USGS have agreed a second quake by the look of it. Potsdam have had this all along as noted by Muzzy.

The original 6.0 has just been reduced to 5.9 Mw exactly the same as on GFZ Potsdam.

I realise that you are not responsible for the title, but I don't like it and that article does not go on to make any mention of why it was weird other than this perhaps:

yet one that has kept relatively quiet for hundreds of years.

This of course in nonsense as I produced a list of quakes in the area since 1973.

This area is over 600 km from the subduction zone so what are they on about? The expanding earth theory has an explanation. I will leave you to look it up.

Wow, I will try and answer you as best i can.

A CME that is earth directed must use force, hence why the magnetosphere gets dragged around and creates the auroras etc but here is what i find interesting. Electric current travels from negative to positive, right?
Is it possible that the pole shift will be simply a switching of direction of current, current in this case being the cme's charge and what about the influence of the Large Hadron Collider combined with HAARP on such an event?

The pole shift when it does occur will be a switching of the earth's magnetic field. First let me dispense with the LHC and HAARP. Both of these are so puny compared to the energies harnessed by Mother Nature you can quite safely dismiss them. The total energy from the Sun alone that enters the Earth's atmosphere is estimated at 173 petawatts which very roughly is 622,800 petajoules per hour. This is the equivalent energy of 311 or more Tohoku Mag 9.0 earthquakes every hour. HAARP is (the largest one) 1 billion watts which is .0036 Petajoules per hour. It really is sort of irrelevant. The LHC uses most of it's power to feed the steering magnets and not in the particle beam itself.

I don't believe we know enough about the earth and it's gravitational/magnetic field yet. It is postulated that the 'iron' core is what causes the geodynamo to create a magnetic field. Personally I do not believe that. First the 'fact' that the core is iron is not proven, it is speculation. Second if such a massive body of molten iron was to exist the eddy currents in it would be enormous and would probably cancel out any effects. A plasma core just like the Sun is potentially a more probable explanation, but we could not 'prove' that either.

I believe that the Earth is constantly being replenished with energy direct to its core via the poles and that maybe the LHC and HAARP may actually trying to use this. On the other hand they may be using these for other reasons but hey?

HAARP is basically a tool for manipulating the ionosphere. Personally I believe that the scientists do not have the right to manipulate MY ionosphere and cause effects. It is just as much MY ionosphere as it it YOUR ionosphere and theirs but that does not give them the right to alter it - same goes for geo-engineering the atmosphere.

The core continuously being replenished creating a free energy source capable of how much power?

Regrettably I think it is more probable that it is not being replenished. Of course the energy from insolation is mitigating the loss of energy, but the core is losing energy I think and eventually our planet will expire when the furnace dies.

Now this is where i ask in regard to the tennis ball theory of mine.
We as a species have drilled and mined for many years. What we have taken out may have left empty spaces(may not but just a theory) These empty spaces along with an earth directed cme could it possibly cause a squeezing effect, earthquakes getting more frequent or greater magnitude? The squeezing effect caused by cme's may trigger EQ's due to compression therefore squeezing volvanos or forcing lava/oil up? Add to the equation the fact that we as a species have removed much of Earths flexibility by building miles upon miles of roads, railway lines, Tunnels, cables, Pylons all of which may restrict movement? Not forgetting the gigantic scabs of concrete that we sit on in towns and cities.

OK, I see what you are trying to get at but again Mother Nature is so much more powerful than any piddling little constriction we could manage, or concerned by minor 'woodworm' holes that we might have bored in the trunk of the Sequoia to try and give a size comparison.

We are just extraordinarily insignificant little creatures with massive egos and impressions of our own importance but Gaia can dispense with us in the flick of a fly swat.

I could go further into things in relation to vibrations and the earth becoming in a sense a tuning fork.
I know that this may not make sense to many but i am actually hoping that you could share your opinions as best as you can.

I am afraid I do not subscribe to the 'frequencies' theories. There is a good reason for the basic earth frequency and we are not about to ascend to a 'higher level of frequency' now, or on 21 Dec 2012, or any other time. I don't believe that the Schumann resonance has any effect on earthquakes either, rather it is the other way round if anything.

I would also like to ask a few more questions if you dont mind.

Google Earth Battery
Water Battery and tell me what we are all missing here because imho energy is in abundance and i believe that energy companies are making more than 100% profit

Nearly out of space. Earth battery
for low power apps. No they are not using free energy.

yep has been a while.
I did a search 100km radius circle from todays quake epicenter on ANSS down to mag 4 , nothing!
Got his one a bit further to the SE , from my own blog, Major World Earthquakes 314 -2012 (1910-2012 Mag 7+ section)

Date/Time: 1928/4/18 19:22:40

On April 14, and 18, 1928, a sequence of two major earthquakes struck the Southern Bulgaria. Their epicentral area is located near the city of Plovdiv, in the Maritza valley between the Rhodope and the Balkans Mountain belts. This sequence is one of the most important that occurred in Eastern Mediterranean region during the twentieth century. Their magnitude have been estimated to be respectively 6.8 and 7.0. The two shocks and subsequent aftershocks hit a large area of about 3000 km2 and caused extensive damage: destruction of 5 towns and more than 240 villages.

It looks like a busy day already quakes going off all over the place. Notice there are a couple of biggish ones near Japan.

Standby for the doom !

It's been fairly quiet to be honest...no 7+ quakes for about 6 weeks now.

Sorry, no doom being forecast until maybe around June 6th when Venus transits in front on the sun, for the last time until December 11, 2117

Not sure if it's a harbinger of megaquakes or volcanoes, or both, or neither

The quakes seem to follow a line. First Italy, then Bulgaria and now Japan. All three lie on a line i.e. if we draw an imaginary one. The Quakes seem to move from west to east and now maybe the USA next?

If you compare the earthquake swarm of 2011 with the last weeks in alaska, it seems pretty similar and for me it seems, like alaska slowed down know... but I don't know

OK, I have drawn the imaginary line and yes it seems to intersect Bulgaria and Japan and then projecting that it would touch on the US.

One of the big problems with all maps is they are flat and whilst some still believe it to be the case we do not live on a flat earth. (At least not as far as I am aware). Spatially it can be a divil to get your head round, but we get a lot of practice here in Ireland bcause jets flying from Germany or even Syria, to New York - both of which are way below us in latitude, go right over head.

If you take a direct imaginary line from Italy that intersects Japan it does not touch either Bulgaria or in particular the US.

Darn, another good theory gone! If you extend that line further it trots across the Pacific, missing the north of New Zealand and bypassing Antarctica and ends up in southern Chile!
