Just a quick note of thanks for the info. We are so lucky to have you here on ATS!!!!! Very helpful to have such a perspective when we hear about these "big" ones.

Indonesian local warning probably. I am trying to find it. NOAA has issued a bulletin but no warning. Maybe the weather channel is getting muddles up?

I know we hate the foreshock/aftershock thing here, but are you putting us on warning that there is the possibility of a bigger one to come? Sounds like it to me.
Somebody posted about a tsunami warning, have you found anything yet?

Well not a foreshock for another Mag 9 for sure, but yes an 8 is possible but unlikely. The pattern for the area seems to be mag 7+. There was an 8.5 in 2007 but I think it was further south. I seem to have lost my link to it. Back shortly.

Here you go 8.5 details

As I said it was further south and from memory that is the other side of a plate junction.

Tack another big quake on the graph with the full moon at it's apex.

Just sayin'

The full moon was the 8th not the 10th. Pure coincidence. What you should have said was "Tack another one on to large January quakes"

BTW relationship between the 3. Today 9.1 and 8.5. As I said, different plate area.

muzzy has tried to find a provable connection.

I have tried to find a provable connection.

Yes there is an effect.

Does it trigger big ones? No.

To all those who think otherwise - don't just say it, prove it. Do some work, collate the data and prove to muzzy and myself that the moon causes large earthquakes - this requires the moon to be a factor in all large earthquakes. No good coming back and saying it does 25% of the time

Can't really ask fairer than that can I?

I shall be delighted to peruse the results over a cuppa.

It is the 11th, but what does that have to do with the price of fish? Is there some hidden secret here I am not aware of? And why pray is this quake too early?

Ok here you go Puter have a look at this.
Very strange if you ask me.I still find it hard to buy in to the whole haarp thing but the evidence just seems to mount continually does it not ?

Again I'm posting this on behalf of Icemud. Good work Icemud.

Moon beams. Day dreams. I love my moon. It's mine because I know how it formed.

But. Don't forget the sun.

The Tsunami Warning from the Australian Tsunami Center states that even though one is in force, it is only expected to be very low/small and only up to 100 miles from the epicentre based on previous data in similar quakes, so thank god all looks good.

Good to see you doing the Quake Watch again in 2012 Puterman you have given soo much time and information, expertise and facts against hype, its an much better resource now you are on the case after our previous ATS Quake Expert left shortly before you joined.

One of my most read Threads on ATS Thanks again for improving this resource year after year.

Kind Regards,

Elf
