Capitalism works but we in the US have rampant corruption. Regulatory bodies are routinely run by CEO's and board members.. Hopefully that changes soon as people are coming around to the real problems we face.

I really do not envy money or the people who have it. Ok maybe a little but not in the way most would think. I just want enough to live a happy life without major denials. So far I have earned every penny, nickle, dime, quarter, dollar I have made.

If I made a million tomorrow I would not mind paying 40% if those who make 10 million pay their 40% as well. I simply don't want to be a sucker for the government who wastes my money or some ultra rich man/women who makes billions with insider information and pays nothing.

Yes corruption is a problem. A big problem!


It is truly a simple matter of exercising your mind to learn and then to apply yourself. Envy has never created anything but hatred. Go out into the world and work for what you want. I grew privileged and educated due to my upbringing and my raising. Education was heavily stressed in my household like it is today. Education is the key!

What you described is very Satanic in concept. I am not saying that as an insult or as some sort of name-calling; I seriously mean that what you say is akin to many creeds of Satanism. It is based on the concept of man's greed and man's need to fulfill that greed and that we should expect nothing more from man.

This is wrong because it is saying "things will not get better because they are bad". It is a nonsensical argument. You are arguing that the world is bad because of people like you, admittedly, and that it can't get better because you believe that everybody is like you. If that were true, then why are there so many people who disagree with you? Not all of us are poor. Many of us are making a decent living who are angry on the behalf of others.

Yours is a dying philosophy built upon a dying mentality being left behind in the dust of evolution. Sorry.

The world is what people make it to be. If the leaders are corrupt and siding with evil, that means we need to punish those leaders and get new leaders. Then setup a new system with more checks and balances to ensure evil cannot re-infilitrate itself.

The way some people speak is as though we are animals in the amazon and devour each other. Humans are the smartest animals created on this planet and we are capable of so much more than them that it is ridiculous to make serious comparisons between the two.

Both communism and anarchy don't work because they are extreme systems. That leaves capitalism and socialism. I pick socialism with public central banking. The private bankers should play second fiddle and act as a normal business operation by retracting their hands out of government.

That is my modest opinion!

You make a valid point. Most people are not going to continue working for free once they hit their pay cap. The theory sounds nice but it could never work. What about the lazy sob's who don't want to work and just sit home and do drugs all day? Should the wealthy give them money to even things out?

There was a reason for Nixon in 1971 removing the gold-standard and replacing it with a confidence backed fiat currency. Few to this day know the true reason why it was done, but be it Nixon or whoever else could have been in office it was going to be done in 1971 REGARDLESS of presidency.

Just look at the effects that socialist governments have had on the world. Nazi Germany and the USSR were some of the darkest places/times in the history of man. Sure, capitalism has many downsides, but it has also brought more people out of poverty than any other system of economics - in the words of Milton Friedman. And it's true.

Factually and historically speaking, capitalism is the preferable system.

Only a conservative thinks that way. If the government is corrupt then throw it out the window and lets have anarchy. Sorry, it just don't work that way in the real world. We need to elect people who DO CARE and if that is impossible join OWS and have millions protest.

Why is it that the same people who bash government are the same people who then bash OWS?

I thought we all want the same thing. Less corruption and more accountability. Anything less is hypocrisy......

So the fact that most people choose to get themselves an education and pursue the goals in life via either gainful employment or through gainful self-employment makes us bad people?

I work 4-6 contracts a year between the months of Jan-May(vacation from May to Jan) like I have been doing like clockwork for the past 13 years...I get paid over six figures as do my firm associates.... get taxed at a very high-end tax bracket and pay >40% of my gross taxes to give people who do not want to work a monthly cash stipend, food voucher, and subsidized housing with subsidized utility bills and this is not a case of the higher-class taking care of the poor?

Mind you I am a multi-establishment proprietor who can only do so much writing-off...other than that I owe EVERY YEAR!

Wow!

Somebody call The Get Real Squad here quick!

The op has put forth an interesting concept, one that has been echoed in society today. To that end the following can be stated:

The concept that one person should only be so rich, is one that deserves considerations, however, is neither feasible, or should be accepted. The reasons why, is that it would ultimately backfire and cause society to stagnate. What incentives would there be for a person to try, if there was a cap on what he could earn? What would be the motivation for a person to try and succeed or take a risk? Where would the world be if there was a cap on how successful a person could be? In the long run, the very achievements and wonders that we have now would not exist at all, some countries would not exist and the very exploration and innovations would simply not exist.

If you put this into a historical context, the new world, the Americas would never have been discovered, new species of animals or plants would never have been found and some diseases, that have been wiped out, would still be rampant. We would be in a dark age of information, where the very idea of taking things to the next level would be discouraged, even punished. Our every action would become suspect and possibly given punishments for even daring to take the next step. From the point of history, this was once done, if you look at medieval Europe, where there was the royalty at the top, and any who would dare approach, let alone try to touch the scepter of power, often found themselves at the point of a sword or a head shorter. Take a look at the bad and good points of society in the past 100, 500, and 1000 years, seeing where innovations were pushed through. As was stated by JFK in a speech: We choose to go to the moon. We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win, and the others, too.


Take away that incentive that goal and dreams, and we would do no better than to reverse the course of history, to remove the aspects that in society and businesses there has to be a winner and a loser. And often the losers, will it may sting and seem humiliating to many to be in that position, will find that they learn from their mistakes and be stronger for it.

Ask yourself this, where would we be, if we did not choose to go to the moon, or cure polio, or question the very nature of the universe itself? What if Martin Luther, did not dare to question the authority of the church? Or what if James Smithson, had never been allowed to accumulate his wealth or what about if Andrew Carnegie had been told you made enough money and could not even earn another dime, where would the world be for those who built their fortune and then gave it to people? Where would the world be without wonders such as the Taj Mahal, the pyramids of Egypt and the ancient city of Rome? What about the art works of Leonardo Da Vinci or Michelangelo? Or even the music of Mozart, Handle and Beethoven? After all a lot of the artists, monuments, museums and even libraries were all given a life and start from the very rich, thus enriching us all.
