Second.

I wouldn't trust someone who has a fear of cats having ulterior motives with children. Anyone who doesn't trust animals, are NOT to be trusted themselves...

What the hell kind of logic is that? Theres something wrong with not trusting an animal with predatorial attributes around an infant? I dont trust your thought process and logical thinking, thats what i dont trust. I hope if you have kids, that you arent the main caretaker..

Cats are the most amazing and wonderful creatures. My Siamese has the ability to put me to sleep. I have a recliner I like to sit in. Any time my cat see's me sitting in the recliner, it's an opportunity for a cuddle. She stretches out on my leg and purrs and it's amazing I start getting sleepy. My cat and I have had many pleasant afternoons sleeping in the recliner. She's such a sweetheart, but I would never trust her with a baby. When she was an outdoor cat she used to hunt rabbits and can be quite fierce at times.

This shows a HIGH level of intelligence. The cat is clearly engaging in behavior that IT KNOWS is outside of what humans BELIEVE that they can do. As soon as the cat is caught red-handed, it goes back to its normal "meow," and then begins wagging its tail back and forth as if its trying to correct the mistake it had made.

www.youtube.com...

Sorry, I guess putting the youtube vid up here didn't work, so, I posted the link instead...

Hah are you trolling us?

The second video, the cat was playing. I've seen that look a million times in their eyes. He was batting at the baby's head softly.

1st video is definitely not proof.

That's funny.
The cat looks so baffled by the dogs reaction, kinda like "hey, I thought you wanted to play?" And then it goes off to sit down and consider what just happened.

i grew up a 100% dog person, but since getting a cat last year i am completely converted. cats are just amazing, so intelligent and mysterious. psychic abilities (in some cats not all) seems entirely possible with some of the strange things i've seen, such as the vids. thanks for sharing!

The Cheetah is such a beautiful specimen.
Do you have any links/names of researchers or sponsor for the genetic research?
And/or any other info about the connection between identical genomes being exclusive to our test subjects?

This is the first I've ever heard about anything like this-
if what you've claimed is legit,
that's a pretty damn big deal.

Since when were Cheetahs the animal of choice for testing?

Their genetics are the result of interbreeding is my understanding. And if anything genetically threatened one... they would all be doomed.

A Cat got stuck in my back yard cornered by my dog, the cat stared him down like in the croc video, 5 min later the the cat was dead. I tried to stop my dog but animals can run faster than humans.

I dont believe in them have psychic abilities over dogs, no way.

when i was a baby lying in a cot a cat jumped in the cot and sprawled itself over my face
i had passed out not being able to get a breathe or move the cat
my sister came in the room and scared the cat off
i was told i was kept in the hospital for two days under observation
my point is i dont think the cat tried to smother me he probably just wanted somewhere warm to sleep
if it had any kind of psychic ability i dont think it would have tried to kill a baby
wouldnt it have known i was in danger and move itself of my nose and mouth and let me get some air

I don't have anything constructive to add to this, I just wanted to curse all those who have added videos to this thread. You have now destroyed all plans I had for the day and I'll be spending it all watching cats on YouTube

Thanks

Well it isn't compelling evidence to ME.
I could argue that my dog is psychic.
If I get cross while I am driving, she starts getting all excited and whining - and I don't even have to say anything.
When I am thinking about going out she is there with her lead before I have even stood up. Etc Etc.
Is she 'psychic'? No. But she has learnt to interpret body language. In this way animals can even pick up on moods. Some also have an amazing sense of smell. There are dogs which sniff out cancers. But it is nothing to do with being psychic.
PS who would let a cat near a baby? It's not something to be encouraged. School of Good Parenting - not.

Yes - my cat send me psychic messages too. Without saying a word, she looks at her empty bowl and then looks at me, and then somehow, I just know exactly what she means.

I have a cat and his name is Upgreyedd( with two d's for a double dose of his pimping), I love him so much, and he is certainly smarter and more perceptive than most of the humans I meet!

Don't read this next part if you suffer from cognitive dissonance.

can anybody say acute toxoplasmosis? This is the reason cat feces is to be kept away from pregnant women. I believe something like 70% of the world is infected. symptoms range from mild to severe. don't believe me, do some research. A high percentage of "crazy people" have acute toxoplasmosis. minor symptoms range from depression, anxiety to many of the mental problems folks suffer from these days. Is all the meat we eat contaminated with this parasite? Is this just another thread in the social fabric that's driving us all insane?

I have a cat and love cats, but I would not agree that cats are psychic. I do, however, believe cats pick up on patterns very quickly. Cats are very intelligent and often times, for example, when I start thinking it's time to brush kitty's teeth, she will run and hide when I've barely moved a muscle. I don't know how, but she just "knows" somehow every now and then. It's like they can feel it in the air, but I just think they pick up on things we don't even notice and connect that to a certain outcome and react on it. A cat's eye view of the world is very different from ours. If they lived in the wild, they'd have to pick up on every little thing in their surroundings just to survive, so I do think cats have a sixth sense of some kind, but I would say psychic is pushing it just a little bit. Highly aware, absolutely.

Also, are people really still speaking of declawing a cat like it's nothing? You do know that declawing a cat would be equal to cutting off your own finger at the first knuckle to stop your fingernails from growing, right..? It's an amputation, a major surgery just because you don't have the patience to train a cat. Cats are highly responsive to positive reinforcement. My girl isn't declawed and she loves using her scratching posts. She'll intentionally do it in front of me sometimes just for the praise, but it works. I also don't know why some people say cats aren't loyal. Mine follows me everywhere and when I go out, I come back to find her either in front of the door waiting or laying on my bed waiting for me.

The thing about Cats vs. Dogs, in my experience is that cats require more effort to connect with while a dog will connect with just anyone. If you put the extra effort in with a cat, you can train them to do all the same things a dog can (except rescue people from burning buildings, but that's more of a size issue than an intelligence one) if you really wanted to. Dogs are easy to understand, cats take work to understand. People just like things to be easy and dogs are easy. I do like dogs, but dogs are scared of cats and they should be! lol

Right well before I get any more off topic, I'll leave you with a couple videos. One of a dog and one of a cat. Both will make you laugh out loud!

If anything, the first video proves how stupid both the cat and those people are.

If the alligator ended up chomping that cat and making off with it, or the guys leg then you might have a different opinion.

Btw... i do think the cat in the second vid is just eager to play... you see him watch the hands of the baby, and one time it looks like its going to bite the head... pretty scary!

the cat yawned, projecting the relax, sleep vibe.
