ATS RECAP 01: Ron Paul Kim Jung il Pepsi

I think the presenter did fine, and shouldn't take the negative comments to heart.

Based on the trailer for these recap vids, I was expecting what I read in the comments above about "made for MTV kids" to be painfully true.

However, I think he prob. already took a lot of the comments constructively from the trailer -- and has already adjusted.

Can't be mildly hip and have a smile to fit in the ATS crowd (no one's directly said this, but I'm suspect)? That's silly. Don't take this kind of stuff so seriously...

My comments were not negative at all. Just simple constructive criticism and Brian apparently did not take them as negative. In fact he called my words" great feedback".

As I said, I look forward to seeing the next video and on a personal level I hope they take my constructive criticism into consideration.

Of course we can smile and be hip, don't take my words the wrong way. I am a 24 year old hippie, I smile and stay hip constantly.

As for the MTV thing..Come on... ATS really is way above the MTV level... You don't see it as a bit too MTV like?

Don't take my constructive criticism so seriously or think that I am trying to be mean. They asked for opinions, after all.

I think my previous comments speak for themselves pretty well, so I will just leave it at that and be on my way. Besides, not everyone is going to agree with me. As I said, I speak only for myself.

Hey we all have our opinions.

I see great potential for this video series waiting to be tapped into and I look forward to seeing this series evolve and grow.

For those who did not hear it.

The swearing took place at the intro to the pepsi can thread( Toward the end of the video). He talks about the S hitting the can.Just a pun and like I said, cussing does not bother me personally(I get told I cuss too much ), but I can see people taking issue with ATS not holding themselves to the same T&C the members are held to.

Like I said, I have no problem with it myself, but, it does come across as unprofessional and at least I can see people taking issue with ATS not holding itself to the same rules as the members.

But SO said in this thread that he allowed the cussing. Which is fine by me. Like I said. His video. his site. His rules to break.

Anyway, I will bow out of this thread now. I feel like I am shoving my own personal opinion and constructive criticism down peoples throat and I don't want to do that or mean to do that.

To be honest i found the video smart.I was expecting something like this and i would be disappointed if it was "too professional" and serious.(if i wanted that i would watch cnn )
I like the presenter.I believe it was the right choice and i look forward for the future videos.

Oh and you can call me insensitive,but i really laughed with the Kim Jung dance.

The intent is for a "video product" that's contemporary in style, with a dose of edginess and raw energy. And... using a bit of a soft-humor approach in a manner that has fun without making fun.

I think too many people in this "space" (conspiracies and such) have gotten used to serious and grim videos springing out from the belly of conspiracy websites/theorists. If we want to tell our tale effectively to more people, we need to be more engaging, while being true to our ideals.

Not too bad... Bit too heavy on politics and news, and light on conspiracy.

I really wish you would curse more, and then do some creative editing, and have a [snip] over the mouth to cover the curse words... And at the bottom of the screen, a Mod edit explaining the edits.

Now that would be both comedic and a real taste of ATS.

And like I said on the previous page, we've allowed swearing (even F-bombs) in audio products such as member podcasts, and when we allowed member-created and uploaded videos to the media portal.

Good stuff, not bad for the first time out of the gate.

I was wondering..

Could we have a few hot replies from the first page of these threads as a "Pro vs Con" perspective also included from now on instead of just a headlines tossed out there? I think presenting two opposing views would spur more interest and or thread participation.

As per this first run, I was no fan of little Kimmy [Far from it actually] but, I too thought it was a bit too over the top. Second, I too agree with the "Language" issue. Would that have been snipped in a thread?

Suffice it to say it wasn't bad for a first attempt.

I would love seeing more members contributed content from the thread.

The more I learn about Kim Jung, the more I think the Recap video was actually being kind to him. I don't have a problem with it. For the sake of the people and their neighbor, I hope his son doesn't follow in his footsteps.

Hah, my first thought after watching it was "Where did he swear....hmm... do i have ADD?" . I can see im not the only one ;]

But to the merit...

Presenter, writer and editor did a good job, no doubt there, kudos guys...

What I didn't like was this frame cutting every few words, straight from youtube "celebrities" videos (to keep attention of average kid while saying utter bollocks at the same time). This is ATS, no need for it. However I understand that it's designed also for people who never heard about ATS, so be it.

Before I express any crticism about the content, I would like to see next episode, to see which direction it will go, I had mixed feelings about kim's tribute (and I hhhrrrhhhhate this song ;])

Perhaps a _little_ more threads covered with short words?
Less bling bling, more info info in short words.

Exactly! I can't think of anything else that gets under my skin more than that FF! Why is it so difficult for the squeaky wheels to face reality? I know, I know, ...agendas! There should be a recap and links to threads on that subject alone

Kim Jong-il is liked by some and hated by others, like most people who hold powerful positions.. In this particular recap, We are simply giving you a glimpse of what we found while researching the man...and the video with the song in addition to the "fun crazy facts" was what we went with.

What each ATS member does - not in my control..

I think the bigger question is, now that he is gone what will happen or "go down" in North Korea from a leadership perspective? His youngest son Kim Jong-un is now the great successor but his father's people are still going to be influencing this kid to make certain decisions...most likely - military focused.

-on another topic - I'm surprised the Pepsi can / Building in Seoul is not causing more of an uproar here on ATS...come on?! where are all the conspiracy theorists at? Let's hear what you got to say!

BTW - your other earlier post had a good suggestion in it regarding the [snip] over some foul language - and about the topics - we continue to reach deep into the ATS threads and see what "good interesting stories" we can find to present in future episodes.

In my opinion, it's a little biased...well...a lot biased.

If I wanted to be told what my opinion was of something...I'd watch Fox News.


I thought this Recap series sounded good...but I was hoping for just that...a recap...not a recap slanted to give the viewer an impression of which stance is correct.

I mean, if you watched this...you would think that EVERYONE on ATS is a Ron Paul supporter and thinks his position on Iran is the correct one.

I was expecting more of a "This is a popular thread, here are the pro arguments, here are the con arguments". You could give an estimation of which argument seems to be gaining more traction on ATS...but I would stay away from the "host" giving his own opinion of what is "right" and what is "wrong".

The [snip] idea would work at expressing the point without the actual word, as is often done in threads on ATS, also as an alternative the simple # sign will do.

With anything new on ATS you're going to have more critics than supporters, especially with "entertainment" content.

A lot of folks tend to take this all WAY too seriously... IMO

Personally, I find this current "RECAP" project and potential future episodes to be entertaining, and look forward to seeing more of them... Don't let the critics drive the content, be original, and above all... Be entertaining.

About the whole Ron Paul thing - He's leading in the polls right now...and this video recap says just that - it does not throw support toward Ron Paul...it's showing you how he came back at Michelle Bachmann's comment that Iran is months away from obtaining nuclear weapons - based on "her" account of some IAEA report..

and really - this is only a snippet of the Iowa debate...actually at the end of the video, Ron Paul goes off on one of his tangents....saying that "you cannot solve these problems with war, you can only solve these problems by following our constitution and declaring war" He's contradicting himself right there...but then you have Bachmann who says at the close of the video "but as president, I stand by the side of peace and the american public"

So, after all of this mumbo jumbo - In my opinion, The only people that will help change this country and world are the people in it - each of us making the right decisions every day...I get it - America needs a leader every 4 years but geez, let's get some more qualified candidates..

Good idea on the pros vs cons of each topic as I've seen this in a few of the posts already...and your thought on which is gaining more traction on ATS is a good one that we will take into consideration...Thanks for sharing!
