Who Will Disappear First, ATS or Its Members? Have any members "disappeard" yet?

I never really noticed the ego thing. If anything, I have a bigger internet ego than those guys from my own personal experience.

but, they deserve to be a little cocky. They put tons of effort and work into this place, and created countless hours of somewhat intelligent entertainment for the masses. And not to mention how much money these top posters made for ATS with all the page views they created.

but no, when you look at the posting history of these people before they are banned or disappear, they appear to have done nothing wrong.

IMO, i think ATS lost some great talent when they decided to ban protoplasmic traveller. And I would highly doubt he would make up what he stated.

And yea, I have noticed the general trend of this website going downhill ever since. I hardly every find posts that catch my attention. I mean those guys made BEAUTIFUL threads. I have a feeling it wont be to long before I am gone as well, of to greener pastures!

They put tons of effort and work into their posts here, not necessarily into ATS. To get stars and flags, and status, praise and ego stroking from members etc. ?

They made some great posts and threads I agree, but to think that they alone are what made ATS is silly.

They still have non-exclusive rights to their material, I believe, and if it was worth so much as you say, why not publish it elsewhere and make MILLIONS from it?

I mean really, if it is that GREAT, they should have no problems selling it and cashing in.

I think the point is that no one is above being banned here.... It can happen to anyone.

There are great posts and threads here daily, Every time I log in here, I am led to many good and great threads from the homepage.

Don't get a big ego online, and you'll be just fine, no matter where you post.

What was the topic you posted 8 years ago that got you a visit from MIB? What did you guys talk about? And do you remember them flashing you with a light?

Thats what i was implying, tons of work with their threads. I know they aren't responsible for coding ATS.
And I highly doubt these people were after stars and flags. Im sure they were posting here because this is what they genuiely enjoyed and believed it. I dont post here for stars and flags. I post b/c this is where I can entertain these kinds of discussions and to also work on my writing skills. Stars and flags are just a nice way to know other people appreciate your work.

and like I said, I dont think their purpose of doing so was for money or stars and flags. Do you honestly think proto made the "all roads lead to rome" thread to make money? cause he didnt. He made that thread because he believes deeply in the cause and spreading the information.

and im not sure how long you have been coming here? I was coming here for many many many years before I actually decided to make an account and contribute to the discussions. But almost every post nowadays is just a repost of an earlier post. Where as, the now banned topped posters quite frequently brought something new to the table. Maybe Ive just been here too long.

Irrespective of how insightful I'd like to think I am , conspiracy theorists wont be among the first group of people to disappear.

The first people to disappear will be the "extremists" and political dissidents especially those with loud mouthes.

Conspiracy theorists are viewed as a bunch of crazies, whether we speak the truth or not people are less inclined to listen to us because of that which makes us less of a threat.

It'll be pretty clear to any good conspiracy theorist that they're in trouble long before they have there door bashed down at 3am by the government.

Could you list some of the members who have "vanished" so that I can review their posts? If it's true that popular contributors are vanishing, then it only makes sense to me to investigate why.

Just out of curiosity, say I was ordered to "disappear" after a specific post or something I say, would the "Federal Agents" come over to Scotland, or would the MI6 come and get me? Or would it be regular police? I was always a bit paranoid about the idea of being "taken" for revealing and/or reading specific highly classified information.

You've seen examples of what would happen if you actually revealed such information: Bradley Manning and Julian Assange.

Mind you that the only reason Manning got caught is because he felt the need to talk about it to Adrian Lamo.... Who then ratted him out.

I don't think they will physically eliminate members of public. They could however track there IP and stop it form making accounts with this website. But if people do leak top secret information on this site it is most likely agents that are being tracked anyway and will be dealt to. Just a thought. I don't 100% know.

And if people do get banned then fair enough. The ATS admins have put a lot of effort into this site to make sure everyone can have a safe time. If they let anything go on in these forums then top American authorities could have this whole website shutdown and much more people (as cool as it sounds) would get visits from FBI or whatever the case.

Likely some goons in all black, head to foot, rushing in, seriously disabling you and carrying you out, not to be heard of. In the middle of the night. Sounds like a stupid scary movie to me, but sadly, all too likely if you're really being targeted.

It isn't that simple. They have non-exclusive rights to their material. If you were a publisher, would you go there. Publish it and then someone else could publish the same. Most publishing deals involve an exclusivity clause.

That is why I think carefully whether I post my best material and if I do what form it is in. This isn't a charity as far as I'm aware....

You should see the lists I am on, and I am still here as well.

Only one "official" visit with the FBI, all others were strictly off the record.... Those kind of visits are the worst, especially when it involves corrupt agents.

If I disappear it wont be because of ATS, or anything I have posted here.... It will be because of my own stupidity.

ATS is great cover, when used properly... Good way to communicate, and even better way to appear CRAZY!

Perez Hilton may get there first, he likes to try forcing celebs to come out of the closet even if they're not actually gay. I hate that annoying toad (and that's the PC, polite thing I call him)

Boon was awesome to read though, at first he seemed crazy but then the more I read closer to his apparent banning, the more he made a ton of sense.
