i'm sorry, i'm having trouble understanding how people assembling in the parks and inviting anyone and everyone to join them is taking away anybodies right to be there

Because not everyone wants to bring their children around filth, nudity, profanity, people defecating in plain view, possible fights with the cops etc. If that doesn't make sense I guess I'll say they are blocking the fields from intended use.

65 doesn't understand you.
sometimes your posts are rational and well thought out.... if not outright compassionate then displaying a depth of feeling and understanding
....and then sometimes, like today, you go into Massive Troll Mode;
defecating in plain view?
seriously, why don't you just argue that people can't use the parks when the protests are on because Obama and Soros are standing at the gates personally implanting socialist mind control chips in anyone who comes in?
you ask whether and why we still support the Occupation
and then immediately derail with this? dissappoint.

i notice you seem to have overlooked the second part of my post so i reiterate;
the system is broken. the system will kill every single one of us if it is allowed to continue unchecked.
we have to do something, together.
the ows, despite the failings and human foibles of it's participants, was actually trying to do something.
have you got anything better?

That's so ignorant and ironic.

Anyway, why wouldn't people be taking them seriously? Because there are less new stories about them? That always happens, they will be back again in spring when the giant rally on Washington happens. Occupiers from around the country are supposed to gather there.

How is it either?

Have fun with your nanny state. May your children remain ignorant of the world forever. They will turn out either too messed up for words, or be obliterated when the smallest obstacle introduces itself into their lives.

"Oh noes people protesting for months on end might smell bad and have their rights violated by police. They should be changing their world from their computer keyboard like MEEEEE."

How is, complaining about people being in a park deterring (not stopping) other people from being in a park, ironic?
Gee I don't know.

No trolling. I just don't think that people should be able to take over a public park as long as they want. Also, some were pooing in public. Like the guy that got on YouTube, or the one that pooped on a cop car. I've already stated in the thread that I appreciated OWS for shedding light on some of the larger problems the country is facing. I don't have a problem with people protesting, or with the main points of OWS. Everyone wants to argue with me about the illegal protesting. Not the point of the thread.

Just wondering if anyone has soured on OWS.

the illegal protesting.

Really? That's absurd. Adding that word in there. Do you really think it's "illegal protesting?"

You seem really upset that I disagree with you. Why would you wish ignorance on my possible future children? I also don't have a problem with people marching or protesting or spending time in the parks. I take issue with people 'occupying' them without end while trashing them.

I hope you find peace.

Not upset at all. Just making a point. Worked too.
I don't care that you disagree, It's just annoying to see such ignorance on these boards and I can't help but respond to it. I promise you there are a long worse things kids could see than dirty people being FREE and protesting corruption in a park. I would take my kids down and let them see. When you consider that they could see much worse if we don't get a hold on these problems with protests.

Dirty protesters in parks? Don't take your kids to the park or better do.
Could be worse. They could see things like this:

It becomes illegal when they refuse to remove themselves. That's why they get arrested. They disobey, get maced then convince silly pants that we live in a police state, even though they are breaking laws put in place by the people they pretend to support.

And that is the ignorance I was talking about.
They shouldn't have to remove themselves. If you really believe that then you don't believe in the right to protest. Cops could make any protest "illegal" by asking them to leave.
You have to be trolling if you believe this garbage you are saying.

So you are upset. Also, no ignorance. Understanding of the law and that people don't get to o whatever they wish. That's why jail happens to them.

I would take my kids down and let them see.

I wouldn't. Lots of people wouldn't. They shouldn't lose their privilege to use the park because OWS was disgusting.

As for your link, lol. I'm not shocked and I will pray for you.

i don't want to argue with you about illegal protesting, and i don't really think anyone else does either.
some people are trying to point out that illegal protesting is rather a contradiction in terms, however.

also, okay, you have examples of two guys doing bad, and i am sure there are a whole freakload more.
childish accusations and generalisations aside;
what else can we do?

There are far more serious issues, than some people protesting, and breaking some silly "occupation law".

They have a right to raise their concerns, and at least they are doing something. These protests are not violent, the only violence i see is that of the police.

If you want to see what violent protests are, look to some protests in the 80's and 90's in South Africa, or even to the Los Angeles riots.

This is nowhere on the same scale, and is rather peaceful.

I'm not trolling just because the two of us disagree. The police are enforcing laws set forth by the people. Don't believe me? How come no one has sued for evictions? Because they were legal evictions.

Uh yeah and the law says two people in love can't get married unless they are of the opposite sex. Sometimes laws are garbage. Any law that limits freedom of speech, right to assemble, and protest is also a piece of garbage and not worthy of abiding. Congratulation, you understand a law, they are created in the simplest terms, understanding when to disobey it takes a higher level of functioning of which you have not achieved.

That link shocks you? That is what people really don't want their kids to have to see. This whole think of the children absurdity when it comes to Occupy is just that, absurd.

It is not really about legal or illegal protesting, it is about getting a point across, making people aware, and doing something, that so many seems unwilling to do anything about. Rather sit at home in front of a pc and complain about problems and issues.

No, it's not. If my form of protesting was murdering old people, would that be 'legal protesting'?

what else can we do?

Protest in a legal way.

Thank you for that congratulate. They are not created in the simplest of terms. If they were, we would not need lawyers.

Any law that limits freedom of speech

So death threats are OK?

What if I decided I wanted to occupy your lawn?

That link shocks you?

Not at all. Which is why I said, 'Your link didn't shock me'.

No.. but there is no stated constitutional freedom to do that, there is a freedom of assembly.
Come on, really, you can't see how your logic is faulty?

There is a constitutional freedom of assembly, it does not contain time limits, or constraints other than that it remains peaceful.
