I was just reading about the new planet that Kepler has discovered in a sun's habitable zone and started to wonder what all of this "search for alien life" activity could mean in terms of eventual disclosure.

So, the US government decides that it's citizens need to know that alien life exists. If they come out and say "we've been lying to you for decades and here's all we know about aliens, their ships, culture, etc" folks would probably be mad about at the long running deception...to put it mildly.

Another route is to "discover" alien life and let information out as what was "just" discovered. Such as "we've just discovered a planet in a habitable zone...oh wait, just got an alien signal...oh wait, they're on the way...oh wait, now they're here...oh wait, aliens are now here for the first time ever! let's learn about them together!"

It would be a way to "disclose" the truth of alien life without coming clean about covering it up since forever.

*** Of course you may argue that disclosure will never come for whatever reason, but that's not the topic of this thread.

Them come out and say "We've been lying" will NEVER happen. Even though they've known for many decades. That being said, even if they did, the whole truth will never be revealed.

They already had disclosure a few weeks ago. The White House said that it didn't know anything much about UFOs other than they were unidentified, and that they weren't aware of any aliens, so there was no sense in connecting the two. Disclosure. The end.

It was in all the papers.

There's still a chance that there's nothing to disclose.

Right. But this thread is a hypothetical about the possibility of selective disclosure should there be something to disclose.

Or it could be said that denial of anything to disclose is but a step in a "gee whiz there are aliens!" sort of discovery by the government.

Yes, exactly! And we all know how the government is honest and transparent !!

And if the papers say it...well...then...it must be true.

Nothing personal, just having a little fun. But I have to agree with Chrismicha77...

Disclosure will NEVER happen.

Unfortunately true disclosure will not ever happen in our lifetime. Why? Either we truly do not know who/what they are or the disclosure would make everyone doubt the past. Including Jesus and God. Many of us truly believe that God or Jesus was an ET of some sort. We hope that one day we will meet these ET's. I know I do because I can only hope of leaving this dump we call Earth. So much corruption, crime, selfishness...I think we all hope for a better place someday.

It's interesting to think that if the government and the people "in the know" could handle the truth about aliens and other life forms, then why couldn't we?

The only contradictions to this are: The government have never lied to us afterall or....the government are aliens!

No offense, but no one with half a brain would believe that.

haha and you believed them?

Got links to this so called "disclosure?"

The govts will always deny deny deny, they will not admit aliens or life elsewhere.

I dont need any govt to tell me life exists elsewhere and i don't need any disclosure either. There is so much "evidence" already but people want to say "oh it's fake or they are lying." I find it hard to believe that every single person who has ever said they had a UFO experience or alien experience was lying or making it up for attention.

People have lost everything trying to share what they know or have seen and heard. Why would they give up all they worked for? It makes zero sense!

The thing is, the only disclosure most people would ever accept as true is that which only confirms whatever science fiction fantasy they already believe.

Even if the white house came out tomorrow or some other agencies from the US and said "Yea there is alien life out there and we can confirm we have made contact"

Most people that think that alien life has visited this planet like myself wouldn't be shocked. The only real question anymore is what is their agenda?

"Ohh Aliens exist, and you have made contact? Welcome to 60 years ago buddy"

The Government is going to hide and deny it as long as they can until the aliens themselves decide to plop down on the white house lawn and start waving to people or something.

Well, the whole UFO field is dead these days, anyway. There are essentially no interesting sightings or experiences along the lines of a Barney and Betty Hill, or Parker and Hickson. All these things are drifting into the past. The photo and video evidence we get these days is appallingly bad. We don't even have a good Bob Lazar type whistleblower to wonder about.

If there are any aliens running around, they certainly haven't been up to much lately. Nothing to disclose, indeed.

Government will not allow disclosure simply because of the technological implications. "Ya, we made contact with hyper intelligent beings not of this planet that travel hear in spacecraft unlike any we have." The elite would be toppled. Technology so advanced it puts fossil fuels on the shelf, makes hydro electric look pathetic and puts our military run planet in "danger". It wont happen because its too much change too fast. I even think the aliens know that, this is why they never show up and stay and help us. They know its wrong to help evolution.

We are the 99% that probably go nowhere but backwards. They are the 1% that leave and expand.

There are really two different issues. The disclosure of "alien life" will be a simple affair once some probe shows evidence of bacteria on Mars or Europa. The new planet they found is 2.5 times the size of Earth, so it's not the kind of planet that we will easily be able to walk around on. I suppose for some people that will be a shattering revelation, but I doubt it will be so revolutionary that it will cause any kind of chaos. It will make for some great press.

Disclosure of what "the government" knows is less likely, IMO. First, it begs the question that "the government" knows anything more than it has already said. Second, the "government" is not a monolithic entity. If there is anything, it's buried deeply. Thirdly, we're surrounded by nut jobs on the outside, and also purportedly from the inside. Guys like Clifford Stone and Andy Basiago tell such wild and contradictory story that if you believed them all, you'd have to come to the conclusion that his planet was overrun with aliens of all kinds and that we are Grand Central Station. I'd be happy to blame disinformation campaigns, but, frankly, they can save their money because they don't really need one.

Ok, well let's assume there is disclosure. Aliens are real. The president announces it on TV. Then what? How does everyone get up to speed?

There will be tons of questions. Who are they? Where do they come from? What do they eat? How many toes do they have? How do they reproduce?

Are we all going to sit around watching news conferences for the next 10 years? Will there be college courses? Books on tape?

There's still a chance that there's nothing to disclose.

That is the most disturbing possibility of them all. If there really IS nothing to disclose, then I want a very solid explanation of what we've been paying the US Air Force, the Intelligence Community and the Presidents for since the late 1940's.

If all they know is all WE know then someone has been seriously failing at their job. The fact they are up there in the sky is kinda hard to argue....some very BIG ones at that. So..they had better have secret files somewhere or I'm of a mind to demand the jobs of a good % of some agencies and areas of Government in a total failure of their duties.

Id just noted the reply to Epirus about thread topic.. Sorry if this is a little off then.
..it does seem an extension of topic to consider there literally is nothing in those secret files though?
