The media says so.

Consider the competition.

Gingrich may be leading in the polls, but I think its less about support for Gingrich and more that the GOP rank-and-file detests Mitt Romney. Gingrich is just the latest challenger that they're cycling through. At the same time, look at Romney's poll numbers. You would think he'd be picking up votes, but instead, he's maintaining in the low 20s. Its pretty clear that most Republican voters don't like him and are searching for someone, anyone else to be the nominee.

As I've said before, it reminds me of late 2007 when McCain started gaining momentum, not so much because he was a good candidate. He wasn't. Its just that he was the least pathetic.

He's just the newest GOP flavor of the week. Give it a month and everyone will be over him. I wonder if Huntsman is going to get a turn to be flavor of the week?

Because Republicans are in a pickle ... there is NO ONE who is worthy of a POTUS vote in 2012 ... and they are desperate to not vote for the crown prince Romney. So desperate that they over look Gingrich's flaws .. like his cuddling with Nancy Pelosi on the park bench while pushing the faux-man-made-global-warming agenda.

Obama = not a freak'n chance. Epic failure.
Romney = oh god .. the crown prince and chosen of Rove and Chris Christy sucks.
Newt = enough experience to get the job done, he sucks, but he's not as useless as Romney.

-He is everything washington that people are upset about. No one is more washington type than him.
-He take whatever side of the story that benefits him. Look at the ad for global warming that he did with hillary Clinton

I didn't know of anyone voting for him until he went up to the top of the polls. Now people say"I'm voting for newt he is leading in the polls." I think that is pathetic.. Is the media so overtaken that they can just make up the polls to get people to vote for him. Is it that he is actually a good canidate? I can't find anything that would make me vote for him. Has he ever done anything while in office that is noteworthy?
I watched all the debates and he speaks very well (better than I type) but to me he comes off as an arrogant self centered person. I remember at the beginning of the year he dropped to nothing then within a week he was at the top of the polls.
I also believe he has no chance of winning the presidency of the USA. It all seems so obviously rigged and most people don't notice. Its as if they accept that this is the way it works.
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. Also anything that he did good or bad that you could list.

Why is he leading the polls? Because the media is shaping the election that way.

When you have to choose between weak, weaker, and weakest, you end up with Newt at the top. I am convinced a lot of viable candidates that could have made a run for it, are sitting this one out. He is the Bob Dole of the Republican's trying to fight Clinton.

Who wants to take over at this point on history? You can rack up the debt, or make a bunch of unpopular decisions. Better let someone else take the bullet and come marching in around 2016 when things may just be a bit more settled.

It is because the rest of the republican field is just that much worse lol. I think basically it is because Newt was Speaker of House during good economic times in America. he is the only one there with a positive record he can claim to have been a part of.

It should be obvious by now that we are going to get 4 more years of Obama.
