I think his age is irrelevant, as is his experience. I would be eager to back a 'regular citizen" any day... However, I would have to know what this person stands for... In real terms, not cliches. But I'm not going to support or back someone simply because they are an ATS member.

SDog vouches for his character and that means a lot, but I still want to know who he is and what his positions on political issues are before I give him my support. Reading his website, I can't tell a thing about him or his positions

Glad to see people getting involved.
However his age and severe lack of experience are clearly an important factor.

The experiment of voting for an unqualified, inept, and inexperienced POTUS have proven conclusively that putting someone in public office because they are just an average person and are supposedly more in touch is a major mistake. This lesson learned should be applied across the board to all leadership positions of importance.

The vetting process will determine if he's mature enough and capable of doing the job.

I'm sure a couple of members will come here to shoot down any hope we can muster up.

A lot of members here are that way.

Not sure their mentality.

There is a rising tide of cynicism that has become a corrosive to the debate. it seems some want to hold back others, just because they have lost hope.

Sorry to say but personally I disagree with this statement.. Just because, someone has an opposing view of a subject or an opinion on a certain matter, they should not be put down or their character to be judged by that. Especially with comments that on a psychological level are comments that deflect attention and try to gain support of the group that are leaning in a certain direction. (i would have thought better of certain members)

The problem with this website and some members here, although they believe they have learned of and escaped the clutches of 'TPTB' or a 'matrix' type society are actually stuck within an opposing world, which is actually more harmful and dangerous in the long term. Those people generally seem to 'gang' together and follow the thoughts and opinions of other rather than thinking for themselves, with little balance and only a one sided view.

This comment is not aimed at any specific member on this thread it is more of a generalisation.

Back to the subject in hand.. 20 years of age is far to young to hold a prominent position within the world of politics, surely anyone with their feet on the ground and have a balanced view of life can see this, and it is not to do with intelligence or maturity it is to do with life experience and i fail to see how someone so young can have a wealth life experience.
of course it is entirely normal for someone this age to enter the world of politics and climb the ladder as it were, we have many examples of this within the uk, i believe Blair was in the political world at a young age, but to hold a prominent position.. no.. not just yet..

I would like to know more about this guy and who he is, and can give you a more detailed view or opinion on the particular person. without that information it is just a 20 year old running for mayor and as stated my feelings on this have been expressed.

It seems many here are willing to support this guy solely on the basis that he is a fellow member and therefore he must know what we do.. And he will make a change... What a load of old BS..

Can't reveal his identity?

Why not be honest from the start? Better than an opponent finding it out later on pointing out this very thread where he asked people to not reveal him.

You know you live in 2011 when people get angry that other people reveal their real, and not internet identity.

Knowing him as well I would say he would chose not to drink even if he was of age. This is a sound choice and I support his right to run regardless of his young age.

Who's angry? I just want to know where the guy stands on political issues. Is that too much to ask?

I think it's a little bit nuts to support someone we know nothing about.
His name tells us nothing.

I think this is a horrible idea. What a waste.
Who is advising this young man?
New Orleans is one of the worst cities to try to do "good", perhaps second to Chicago. Move to Texas, to a small, healthy town where you can actually meet and greet your constituency. Where they will tell you that they appreciate what you are doing WHEN they appreciate what you are doing, and won't kill you if they don't like what you are doing. Well, most wouldn't.
It ain't happening in New Orleans. You will have to network with the worst elements, which includes your police department. They will have you bent over if you cross them.
The political climate is poison, and physical climate is as well. You will probably get cancer by the time you are in your early sixties, if that late.
The people failed New Orleans, there really is nothing you can until the big fire wipes the slate clean.

Does anyone here have a clue how south Louisiana politics work?

Edwin Edwards is still a beloved figure....he just got out of jail, and could win Mayor of New Orleans in a heartbeat if he wanted it...

Our ATS candidate will be wasting his and other people's money by running, you have to be a part of that dirty system already to have a shot at it.

Conspiracy Theorist?
That's tame compared to the resumes of the other candidates, I'm sure!

I say good luck to the guy and New Orleans is a great place to start the healing. If I was to visit the states, New Orleans would be quite high on my list. At least, in the old days when it was full of the original people that lived there with their food, music and carnivals. They have had so much hurt there with that hurricane and flooding that a "normal, regular man" is definitely the way to go, imho. Applause!

ETA And to the previous poster, there are indeed many conspiracy theories here, but there are also many conspiracy facts

I think my problem with a young candidate is corruption.
Sure an old man will be able to be bought off.
However, a child who has not experienced many things in life in a lead position is a nogo.
He could be bribed with alcohol, candy, or even a cute girlfriend.
Like I said, he already shot his political CARREER in the foot, now that he has admitted to being "one of us".
Google the name as I'm sure many will to find out who he is, many will see this very thread.
OOPS

Was a simple question. So far what I see in this thread is, "such and such is this guy and running for mayor, but we can't tell you who he is or any proof at all he is connected with ATS other than posts saying, I know him"

PS: How was my question angry? Was it the lack of exclamation marks? That was just a rude reply.

Yeppers, it's important to know the persons nick, maybe he's a troll.
And if not answered, I would guess I was right.
But it's not my career on the line.

I don't mean any disrespect, and I do wish our fellow ATS member the best of luck!

But it's important that any verbal communication this candidate has from here on in be without reproach or people will seize on any excuse to dismiss him. He needs to proofread every single thing he writes and puts out to the public.

For instance, the words Mayor Landreui need to be capitalized. This is basic grammar.

I would suggest he find an English student at school and have them proofread everything he writes.

Well let me extend good luck and a positive thumbs-up to you Ricky! It is good to see a fellow member put action behind their beliefs.

I, too, am currently pondering public service but will not do so until I have a better grasp of the political climate and a clear, well thought-out plan to achieve the goals I set out to address.

We have no idea what your ideas and ideologies are, so I will refrain from supporting your candidacy until I know. I would only give you some advise from my point of view.

Get your agenda on the website ASAP. If you are going to generate support, people need to know why they are supporting you. This will also give you time to tweek certain areas that will not go over well with certain groups of people.

Be prepared to be attacked from all directions. Politics is a cut-throat game, and all of your past and present information will be drug-out for all to see. Since your name was mentioned on ATS.....Your opponents will use your membership here as a tactic to discredit. Perhaps is was not a good idea to put your name on this site. A simple google search will be your opponents friend now.

Again, good luck and I hope to see some policy ideas on the website soon.

This is looking very bad for him already. It's almost as if he has been studying how to persuade and manipulate people's perception. Very suspicious.

That's probably why he's so revered on this site.

He's still in school according to this stuff? And you want to put this naive kid in control of a city of how many people so he can 'rebuild' everything?

No child left behind, healthy lunches without corn syrup and a swamp boat for every citizen!

More than 24 hours and still no disclosure.
I say candidate if truly a member must be worried that people would find out how he feels.
I am sure that any who might be running against said person must know of this thread by now.
Case closed, NEXT.
