So you're 100% sure that with that single picture you can definitively say it's rust and not from space... Please...

IF it came from somewhere outside the Earths atmosphere, upon entering wouldn't it be in contact with oxygen all the way down? Oxygen + extreme temperature = ???

I don't think it is from outer space but I'm not a rocket scientist so...

It is clearly rust, so very easy to tell that it is rust.
The oxidizing process takes a long time and heat, extreme or otherwise doesn't make a difference.

The last time that bit of metal was in contact with high temperatures was when the, VERY CLEAR signs of welding took place.

I grew up in an industrial town and have seen similar bits of scrap to this a million times over.

Something that shape will naturally tumble when it falls, if it had of passed through the earths atmosphere the 'Welding' marks would be over the entire surface! but the welding marks are at the 'bottom' of end of the picture, where i would guess it had been attached to another length of pipe or some such in a vertical position (rather then a 'T' bar positioned weld)

I have also seen the patterns and growth of rust a million times over. Extreme heat plus oxygen = the oxygen burning. ie: no time to rust.

Even at it's fastest rust like that still takes a few days.

I would LOVE to see a bit of alien debris get found but this is nothing of the kind.
Seriously, this is junior school chemistry stuff.

On further examination i would guess that the area this was found is not very close to the ocean OR it didn't have much time to form any rust. The 'Top' half appears to be tapered so i would make a guess that it was either holding something of a thinner gauge or was intended to be welded to a cylindrical object of thinner gauge, though the total lack of welding evidence at the 'Top' half would suggest that it was not welded to anything.

It does look similar to a shell casing but that would not explain the obvious signs of welding at the lower end.

So don't 'Please' me like i'm being all nieve, your the one guilty of that.

EDIT: My p.c 'Monitor' is a 56 inch HD television so i can get a pretty good and clear view of this picture and after zooming in and out to get different levels of resolution i can determine the contents of the picture even better. The lighting makes it look like it has a slight yellowish tint to it making it look a little like brass but it's more likely steel, obviously without chemical analysis this cannot be determined for sure.

Part of a worm gear shaft.
The exposed part gets rusty abit.
It has been cut for scrap.
A empty shell would not leave a big hole in the ceiling like it did, therefore it is solid.
They are usually 1 to 2 or more inches in diameter.
I should know, that is what I do for a living.
That is,work on elevators.

That knurled end was probably caused from wear when the bearing failed in the gear box housing.
The other end was cut by a saw.
The rust begins in right after the messed up end, that is were the shaft is exposed to the air.

That sounds like a good explanation.

Real mystery is HTH did it get there!?!?

ADD: Sure looks like welding, though i guess that a lot of friction over a long amount of time would cause a pretty similar kind of marking.

relax, that was a joke.
I believe.
looks like a shell casing to me. Or just some crap falling out of the atmosphere, the earthlings have been throwing alot of garbage out there for the last few decades. I dunno where they think it's gonna go...

They posted a video of it.
It was a solid piece of metal weighing 5 lbs.

And this comment below the article.
Otis elevator?

Well that's modern journalisim for you, in the linked article (from the OP not from you) it said it weighed 3 pound.
The military did not show up immediatly afterwards which to me is another indicator that it wasn't from the heavens come.

RAIVAN31.....first off...I would like to say that if that picture is of you....MAN! I LOVE THAT PICTURE! Not because I think your pretty or something! LOL! It just reminds me of a special AUSSIE LOOK....if that is where you are truly from? And if you are not....then....you did a good job of REPRODUCING IT! LOL!

I travel alot....not recently as I am in the studio recording....but I had to do a small job related favor in Florida a few weeks back....but when in Australia......I ALWAYS END UP GETTING IN TROUBLE! LOL!

I have a VERY HIGH tollerance to Alcohol.....not because I am a DRUNK....although I LOVE my beer.....but because I am a relatively tall muscular male who runs....and if you do that....muscle tissue....sucks up the ALCOHOL....google it if you wish.

But when I am DOWN AND OUT AND UNDER! MAN! Those are some good times!

The metal is either from a jet....most likely MILITARY.....or....someone from a JUNK YARD.....created a PIPE MORTER....using some material I will not LIST HERE....so some OTHER IDIOT CAN DO THIS!.....and with a touch of Magnesium.

You could....if you knew what you were doing.....shoot a piece of metal like this....VERY HIGH....into the air. High enough for a combination of weight and velocity to punch a hole through that building.....but I STILL think it was a Military Piece of a Jet that fell off. Split Infinity

I would say that with all the stuff flying over our heads that things like this fall all the time. With the bulk of it over water it goes unnoticed. What does fall over land is not often seen. It is only when it hits something does it get noticed. As to how often this happens I do not have a clue. But I would have to say that I do see it happening more often in the future. If that thing had hit some one it would have been "GAME OVER".

The warehouse sits right next to a mining pit of some kind not to mention the trucking that is taking place in this warehouse area. So my best guess would be a PTO shaft broke under heavy strain and shot off or even a big rig either broke a pto shaft or axle and metal shot off. The video on the OP links shows a better view.

Broken axle.

G'day All,

To me it looks a lot like a drill shaft. The rough end looks like the drill head has sheared off. It happens when the drill head hits harder granite. when the drill is retrieved from the hole this is what is left....a mess. Was anyone drilling in the area ?

There it is, doesn't really look UFO'ish to me

Where ever it came from,it is scrap steel 2 to 3 inch rod that fell some distance to punch a hole like it did in the roof.
You think someone was trying out their new homemade potato gun,as we call it,with something a little more substantial ?

I had one back in the day made out of soup cans and used hairspray for the ignition shooting empty coors light beer cans.
Someone may have beefed it up a bit, wouldn't you say?

Having a little fun with beer and blowing stuff up is always a good time.

Someone used a potato gun, allright.

You also missed a little detail: There was a note attached to the object, it read
"What the frack has this to do with Aliens and UFOs" ...
